Vyse. Someone from Streets Of Rage. Vectorman. NiGHTS (I'm sure there's a way to work around the Pronoun Trouble). Ristar. Et cetera, etc., etc.

Overall, as long as they maintain an even balance of Sonic vs. everyone else and hit some of the suggestions for the first game that didn't make it in, I'll be fine. I feel that there were perhaps a bit too many Sonic characters in the game (seriously, why was Big there?) as opposed to a more widespread representation of Sega. Sure, Sonic's name is in the title, but there's no need to go the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 route.

Oh, and they should definitely have all of the lines be re-recorded instead of using stock audio. Yes, I know that characters from several series would be darrin'd as a result (not to mention that the new Sonic cast would be brought in), but a lot of the clips they used didn't even make sense (point in case: Knuckles and Shadow's All-Star Moves).

Speaking of Marvel Vs Capcom, I would love SEGA VS Capcom or Marvel VS Sega.

It'd probably be Sega vs. Capcom, seeing as Capcom is always the party by which the crossovers come to pass, but yeah, that'd be fun to see.

We... had a thread for that... I think?

Selvaria.

On foot.

Ganking opponent racers with her lance-laser of doom as an All-Star move. tongue

Kidding aside, though there were only two of them, the two characters who came from more 'realistic' series (Ryo, Jacky and Akira) stuck out to me the most - in a good way. It's like, because of how 'serious' they looked design-wise, when dropped into a setting with much more cartoony characters they automatically became the comically serious characters. [lol] I wouldn't mind seeing more characters in that vein, really.

Maybe Welkin and Alicia in a downsized Edelweiss? And, more serious a request this time (as well as a sort-of nod to the US game boxart), Selvaria in one of these, painted Imperial black-with-red-trim? Then she gets out and runs with lance and shield as her All-Star move. tongue It would be funny to see a tank and a 30s roadster pulling off the same crazy stunts as the other racers. Their shared course could be the Naggiar Plains - in the middle of the climactic battle between Gallia and the Empire, with the racers weaving through paths made in the trenches, moving up and out onto the plains where they'll have to avoid mortar fire and the occasional tank rolling along and barring their path.

For potential Streets of Rage characters, I suggest two of the original three - Axel, Blaze, and/or Adam - inside a 90s-esque sports car. Their All-Star move could be them calling for their cop car backup, who drives along in front of them, allowing them to draft and speed up - and all the while, the second cop in the cop car is firing napalm bursts behind Axel/Blaze/Adam to prevent racers you've already passed from getting ahead.

Also, stuipidly-silly thought for another racer: Leonard Nimoy riding a giant Seaman. tongue

Maybe Classic Sonic in his Sonic Drift vehicle (if it isn't too similar to Modern Sonic's car.)

Oh, and yeah, Segata Sanshiro. NO EXCUSES!!!

Oh, and how about a track that ain't from a Sonic game?

Oh, is Vectorman sill Sega? I'd love for him to get a comeback.

[up]Sonic's Drift car is red, so there's no problem there. Also, Vectorman should still be Sega's.

Here are some of my thoughts on potential new characters:

Template: Character - Vehicle - All-Star Move: Description

Jet the Hawk - Babylon's Treasure, a green muscle car styled to look like a flying carpet - Awesome Air Rider: Jet grabs his twin bansho fans and leaps onto his Extreme Gear; when the action button is pressed, Jet spins wildly, spinning out other drivers and reversing their steering controls.

Joe Musashi - Shadow Runner, a midnight blue motorcycle - Kamaitachi Reppa: Joe hops off of his motorcycle and begins running on foot. At the same time, two other ninja from Musashi's clan leap onto the track nearby him. When the action button is pressed, all three ninja unleash a spinning Sword Beam that bounces off of the track and other drivers, causing havoc if most of the racers are in a dead heat. At the end of the move, the extra ninja blow themselves up via Mijin, and Musashi returns to his bike.

Ristar - Star Chaser, a tricycle that has been customized with a star motif - Shooting Star - Ristar grabs a Star Handle and uses it to propel himself into a flying tackle, dubbed the Meteor Strike back in Ristar the game. During this Super Sonic-esque move, many stars trail behind Ristar. When the action button is pressed, one of the stars shoots forward, slowing down rivals for a few seconds so that Ristar can slam into them for the spin out.

Vectorman - Sludge Clearer, a heavily miniaturized version of Vectorman's Sludge Barge - Raster Shot: This is an immediate use All-Star Move where Vectorman briefly transforms into a tank to fire a massive amount of sludge in front of him. This sludge can cause people to spin out when fired, though it stays on the track after use, drastically lowering traction for all racers in the effected area except for the Vectorman who fired the Raster Shot.

Those are all of my ideas for now.

Hm, this game is looking to be pretty awesome. Much better than darn near every Mario Kart title, in fact.

By the way, should the thread title be renamed to its official title?

Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.

Sure, why not.

Sumo has also promised that they are not going to recycle tracks as they did last time, and are going to draw from a far wider variety of franchises.

So, boats and planes this time around, eh? Sweetness in a can!

While I'm not sure what I would like to see in this new one (except maybe a dragon from Panzer Dragoon), I do know what I wouldn't like, and that's more Super Monkey Ball tracks. Crispy crap on a cracker, those were such a pain in the ass to navigate.

Are they dropping the Sega bit? =/

The rest of it sounds quite awesome. The air and water bits seem pretty fleshed out, the introduction of more franchises excites me, and making the all-star move a separate thing is great. I am so keeping an eye on this.

Just like the first game beat the pants off of Mario Party Wii, this game looks like it's going to be a bit better than Mario Party 7...

Question: Tails races in an airplane on the ground. Naturally, it does the same in the air. But why does his "kart" need to turn into a speedboat over water, again?

Edit: Oh, wait, nvm. His cart is totally changed: he's in a racecar now.

Also:

YEAAAAAAH!

Not to mention that the ones that are already used as sources are being used even better: am I correct in thinking this is a Monkey Ball stage? I initially thought it might be Palmtree Panic or something, but then I saw a couple other screens of it and it seems that way what with all the Monkey ruins and pedestrians, which is good, because the 90 degree turns and general offball-ness of the original Monkey Ball stages were something of an... acquired taste and I like that there's more of a raceway with the setting this time around.

In fact, neither of the stages we've seen thus far are from Sonic at all, are they? I hope they pick some good ones (I'm betting Spagonia is a stage. I just know it, though Atopos would probably be better for the whole "Transform" aspect, given that it has air portions, land portions and is next to the sea so they can add in water portions).

Just realised that Opa-Opa is unlikely to return, as he always flies, and that wouldn't really work in a game where you can change from a car to a jet.

A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail.

If that's really the case, then I don't think I'll have a problem with the monkeys having tracks in the sequel after all.

Also, anyone else wonder what a Vectorman-themed track would look like? I'm sure it would either have to be Scenery Porn to give the same impression that the original game did back when it was released, or Scenery Gorn to give the impression of the intended setting.

I really hope they go with the former if they do have Vectorman and his tracks in this one.

That reminds me of something else I would like to see.

E-123 Omega, especially if they have him replace Big the Cat in the roster.
