I like the idea of turning into an index. You're right that it is a bit of a mess and it seems to be trying to talk about far too many tropes that the same time.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThat sounds about right. Wills themselves are more Trivia or Useful Notes than an actual trope.
In favour of index.
It might be a kind of McGuffin, though.

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.Quick glance at the page and yeah, this is squeezing too many tropes into one place. It needs a split.
Also, Will is not an appropriate name. It's too ambiguous. And it shares a name with several works. The main Will page should be a disambig, and we can think of a new, more clever name for wherever this page ends up.
I'd be fine with an index. *brainstorming* Inheritance Tropes?

Rhymes with "Protracted."That's a good one and it's a nice catch all for a number of related tropes.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAgree with moving examples to actual tropes and making this a disambiguation page.
+1 to make this an index...possibly Will and Inheritance Tropes?

I'm cool with that.
Fight smart, not fair.Does anyone have any ideas about what other tropes would fit on that Will and Inheritance Tropes index? I am thinking that Unexpected Inheritance and maybe Black Widow would work.
Anyway, is it alright if I go ahead and make a single proposition crowner for making Will into an index?
"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 dI like the idea of making this an index. Just make sure there aren't any aspects of the page that aren't covered by any existing tropes before we wipe out this one, so we can create new tropes to cover them.
Go ahead. I'm noticing that a lot of these tropes really should be on an index together and aren't. Some are only on Plots
- Pet Heir
- Unexpected Inheritance
- Heir Club for Men
- Inadequate Inheritor
- Passed-Over Inheritance
- Spare to the Throne
- Ancestral Weapon
- Legacy Character

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWell again, we don't want the actual Will page to be an index...it should be a disambig. Much like Inheritance, actually.

Rhymes with "Protracted."Video Wills and possibly The Tape Knew You Would Say That
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.There is now a single proposition crowner for this trope here. I took Troacctid's advice and added the disambiguation part so it was more clear that the Will page itself would not be where the new index would be located.
If I misinterpreted something there feel free to tell me though.
"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 dCrowner is currently 15 to 0 in favor.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. One of the reasons this needs to be a disambiguation is that while inheritance wills are popular in fiction, so is will power, particularly things like Heroic Willpower. Thus, we need a tag of some kind to let people know which one it is.

Fight smart, not fair.Ooh, good point. It's also a common name for Mana in some works. I think disambig would probably be the best idea for this page.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickSupport. Willpower is a stat in some Tabletop Games.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.Calling crowner as we all agree on the index and disambig.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickSemi-seriously, if there's going to be a disambiguation for "Will", perhaps it should link to that other Will. After all, he pops up everywhere else.
As for an index, Will and Inheritance Tropes sounds good.
Crowners locked, what goes where?
Fight smart, not fair.We need an index and a disambiguation. Disambig will be at the main Will page. Index location is undecided. Will and Inheritance Tropes has some support. I think just Inheritance Tropes is better because that includes wills, so the extra bit is redundant.
There are also several tropes on the current Will page that could be YKTTW'd. Presumably that's the majority of the work to be done here.

Rhymes with "Protracted."Why don't we start on that list of tropes to be YKTT Wed then?

Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
When I saw this while fixing up The Cat And The Canary to include information on the play, something struck me as wrong that the word "will" should be linked. There are plots about wills, but wills themselves aren't a trope. It's a straightforward case of People Sit In Chairs.
There are, however, many good tropes about wills and bequests, and we already have some of them:
Many of the examples on Will fit tropes that don't exist yet. Here are some suggested ones:
I propose cutting Will or turning it into an index. Either way, there should be some sort of index to cover these sort of tropes.
