Servants Who... What~Ever

Assassin

Saber glared at the swordsman by the gates of the shrine.

Then the battle was joined.

After a long, gruelling and very difficult bout, she finally stabbed him through the heart, and he slumped back, dead... only he didn't turn to mana. Instead, he became stiff and simply laid on the ground, as if he were a mannequin, or some sort of lifelike statue.

Then what had to be his master popped up, a man in a green suit, with a bland face and no real expression.

He beat the crap out of Saber, and she only survived because she'd managed to impale his chest with a lucky shot. He died the same way as Assassin did.

Then Caster, probably involved with both, came rushing into the fight.

Her magic was nothing to Saber's resistance, but she had a great deal of tricks to turn the fight into a more level ground, counting Saber's exhaustion and accumulated wounds.

Saber barely managed to pull a victory, and, much like the other two, she became a stiff corpse instead of rejoining the grail.

"You probably thought that this servant was alive," a voice said, as Saber turned her eyes to look at where it came from. It came from an old man with a white beard and sunglasses. "Or this human was alive. Or this servant," he said, pointing at the Master and then at Caster. "They're dead. They've been taxidermized. I specialize in the most lifelike dead things anywhere. Period."

Just then, a car pulled by the Ryuudou shrine. It was being driven by an antelope.

"Look at that antelope, driving a car!" Shirou said, pointing at said car.

The car stopped, and the antelope turned to look at Shirou with its unblinking eyes. "Nope," a voice came from the car, and then the same old man's face popped out from behind the antelope. A quick look showed that he'd disappeared from where he'd been a moment before. "It's just Chuck Testa."

If you don't know who Chuck Testa is... meh. Just check out his commercial in Youtube. Or the Schmoyoho version of it.

I had the idea of making a High-School AU with all the Masters from Extra and CCC. No mages or anything, just one-shots with them as normal students. The idea amuses me, for some reason.

He'd be lucky to get even that. I was just looking at the main thread, where they talked about how he's extremely despised by the Japanese fandom. Most either want him to die, or want him to not exist.

Apparently due to how he made Arcueid a useless Berserker.

It's actually kinda sad; I hear he was a bit better in CCC, but once a scrappy, always a scrappy.

Because Extra characters were already in a school setting kinda.

  • Rin: School Idol, perfect student who doesn't want people to realize that she has a softer side.
  • Rani: Odd computer geek who is both extremely logical/rational and somehow really into astrology at the same time.
  • Hakuno (either gender. Or twins, I dunno): The "everyman" student. Serious, focused, and prone to outbursts of hot-bloodedness.
  • Shinji: The asshole we all know and hate, except that he's a computer gamer of incredible skill. Doesn't realize that his long-time online rival is Jinako, a substitute teacher.
  • Dan Blackmore: Retired soldier, PE teacher. Big on honor, doesn't like to talk about his soldier days.
  • Alice: Drama student who gets so deep into her roles that it creeps everyone else out. Amazing actor, not as good at socializing. Extremely short due to growth defect.
  • Monji Gatou: That crazy, crazy janitor. Rumor has it that in one of the janitor's closest is a shrine to an idol of his.
  • Julius Harway: The very scary history teacher. No-one knows quite why the way he his, but nobody likes to attract his attention since he has the air of someone who is cataloging the best ways to do horrible things to you. Some relation of Leo's (stepbrother).
  • Leo Harway: Transfer student from Europe, he is extremely wealthy and serious, he isn't very experienced in how the world actually works, and despite being one of the smartest kids in the school isn't very good at normal socializing.
  • Twice H. Pieceman: Brilliant science teacher. Says absolutely nothing about his past, but it is very easy to discover that he's made award-winning breakthroughs in the computer science. Nobody quite knows why he decided to stop his research for working in a low-paying teacher's job (rumor has it that he hasn't stopped and somewhere in the basement is a mad scientist's lab belonging to him).
  • Lil' Ronnie: Cafeteria lady. Very, very proud and excited about food in general, especially meats. Does the occasional odd-job as a birthday-party clown.
  • Taiga: Basically the same as she always is.
  • Sakura: Shinji's younger, more mature sister. Extremely caring, she helps out at the nurses' office in her spare time.
  • Issei: Council president, same as usual.
  • Jinako Karigiri: Substitute teacher who seems barely able to spend time outside of an unused office she claimed. Secretly a gaming champion and Shinji's online rival.
  • Kiara Sesshouin: Principal, who is caring in an overly encompassing manner. Professes a desire to see her students express themselves as they wish. Teaches martial arts classes at the school.

I dunno, this is all off the top of my head.

You forgot to throw in "Silent and Inexplicably Popular with everyone important" in Hakuno's summary.

Shinji's also 8 in the Extraverse. You could always have him and Alice (both of them!) be classmates.

Julius took over Kuzuki's role in the machine and was supposed to teach Math instead of history. You could actually make a lot of jokes about how the math teacher teaches history instead. Also, you can still keep him as an assassin on the side, as a rumor or something.

You could replace the whole 'knowledge burned into his brain' bit with 'Homeschooled' for Leo. The whole thing with the Harway Plutocracy doesn't really need to change for the different setting, either.

Considering Hakuno's own backstory, there's also a lot of potential for interaction between him, her, them, it and Twice. Twice's also a medical doctor, which doesn't really need to change.

Also, it'd be odd if there weren't at least rumors detailing just how perverted Kiara is. Hell, her introduction in CCC is her landing, breasts-first, on Hakuno's face. At least references to her sex appeal (including an inexplicably skin tight nun's habit that somehow allows one to see her navel) have to be made.

I imagine Hans Christian Andersen is the bitingly sarcastic literature teacher, Vlad the Ham is the faculty advisor to the Drama Club, El Draque drives the school bus on class trips...

Lancer and Lu Bu would have to be Rin and Rani's boyfriends, respectively, while Hakuno could always be at the center of a love dodecahedron...

Of course, how could I forget. The inexplicably cool kid, despite doing very little to earn that wide of a reputation.

Shinji's also 8 in the Extraverse. You could always have him and Alice (both of them!) be classmates.

Alice and him as classmates is a good idea, but then it makes interacting with the rest of the cast tricky. Though if Sakura has to watch over him after school because she's the responsible sibling and their grandfather (parents are dead) wants to spend as little time with the brat as humanly possible....Hmmm. Could work. Alice is a friend/admirer of his in that kindergarten way who ends up hanging out at Drama?

Julius took over Kuzuki's role in the machine and was supposed to teach Math instead of history.

Or something about him preferring math? I dunno.

You could replace the whole 'knowledge burned into his brain' bit with 'Homeschooled' for Leo.

Oh yeah, as a former homeschooler myself that works well.

Twice's also a medical doctor, which doesn't really need to change.

Welp, there's the roll of 1 on the Knowledge check. He cured something called Amnesia Syndrome, so maybe Hakuno suffers from that.

Also, it'd be odd if there weren't at least rumors detailing just how perverted Kiara is.

I was thinking on that being tied in with her "all-loving" nature. All kinds of love, in all kinds of ways. And yeah, Hot Teacher is a trope.

For the rest I was sorta not going to include Servants, mostly because they don't fit into the "ordinary high-school" thing that the preliminaries of Extra have going.

OH, I forgot the school journalism ace reporter, who is very good at getting scoops, but is never actually seen.

You could have the Ace Reporter be seen, but being so incredibly bland that nobody remembers him, even seconds after meeting him.

You could always use them. Sure, they're wacky personalities but... you're writing a high school AU already, you don't want to remove the things that could make your fic actively interesting. Trust me, high school drama without lots of compellingly insane characters won't keep people entertained for very long.

Alice could still be a drama prodigy child actress who's allowed into the drama club because she's just that good.

Or hell, I just thought of her being legitimately insane, but nobody notices and just think she really gets into character.

Alice could work as an Abhorrent Admirer for Shinji, 'cause, you know, nuts and all...

Yeah, Hakuno in canon suffered from Amnesia Syndrome. This was heavily implied in EXTRA, well, aside from Hakuno being amnesiac, since they comment that the only doctor who could have cured Hakuno's condition died in the terrorist attack that put Hakuno in a coma and its elsewhere commented that Twice died in the same event. Not hard to put two and two together.

EXTRA Material confirmed it.

[up][up]To be clear, this isn't actually going to be written. I like planning and coming up with ideas, but it all falls apart when I try to progress past that. Still, it's fun to do in the meantime. So imagine it how you will.

Still.....Hans teaches English/literature, Francis Drake does bus driving and maybe teaches Driver's Ed, Nero is the Drama teacher, Tanamo does Home Ec, EMIYA!Archer is....school security? Maybe Nursery Rhyme as Alice's slightly more serious but not less genius/insane twin fits well. Li Shuwen is the sponsor of the various Martial Arts club(s), who teaches...I dunno. PE as well, maybe? Lancer works well as a student, sure. Karna is Jinako's rumored boyfriend (nobody knows if he actually exists or not, because Jinako having a boyfriend does not seem likely to anyone). Robin Hood is someone who is pretty good at archery, but absolutely hates competitions. Bathory is a popular idol singer?

Are there any fics that depicted an AU version of the Fate storyline where the initial divergence is that Kiritsugu, Iri, and Maiya survive the Fourth Grail War (albeit almost certainly not unscathed), and does that divergence in a believable manner that maintains internal consistency with the setting? I only know of this one fic where Kiritsugu sacrifices himself so that Iri is saved from the Greater Grail and Saber survives long enough to establish a familiar's contract with Iri (and yes, the duo do get around to adopting Shirou and saving Illya within the first handful of chapters).

That's 'cause the FSN-verse part of 2814 comes from Prisma Ilya more than anything else, though, they're not the originals.

Kirei is another character who doesn't really need to change professions. If you make the setting Tsukumihara academy, and there's no real reason not to, then there's a ready church that Kirei can be a priest in.

Pointless changes for the sake of changing things are pointless.

Lemme see if I can make a roster myself...

Hhhhaaahh... lesse, get ready, here we go.

Principal: Kiara Sesshouin, who also teaches Contemporary Society (with a heavy emphasis on how perverted society is). She also serves as a guidance counsilor.

Vice-Principal: Hans Christian Andersen, who also doubles as the Classic Literature teacher. He's also sometimes roped into being a guidance counsilor.

World History: Vlad Tepes, who also sponsors the drama club on the side. He's also supposed to teach Japanese History, but... he doesn't. Nobody has the balls to tell him he's doing it wrong.

Math: Julius B. Harway, who mostly loses time going on tangents about modern history rather than actually teaching math, but is still somehow one of the most competent teachers in the school. He also teaches Algebra and Physics. But he actually does teach both of those, if only in how they relate to calculating a perfect shot with a sniper rifle or the perfect parabolic curve your knife must make so it hits the target and stabs properly.

PE: Dan Blackmore. He also sponsors the Archery club. Do not fuck with him.

English: Taiga, for obvious reasons. She's also trying to encroach on the Archery club, but being a ridiculously skilled Kendoka leads to her being the Kendo club's sponsor instead.

Health: BB. Nobody knows what her real name is, but she's also the actual school nurse, and some speculate she might have some relation to Sakura and Shinji Matou.

Biology: Twice Pieceman. He spends most of his time ranting about how much war sucks and at the same time how conflict drives all life to ever greater progress into the future. He also teaches Chemistry, and is the best teacher in the school, despite his ranting.

Home Economics: Nobody knows. The teacher never shows up. (It's Jinako) Ironically, she's still not the worst teacher in the school.

Modern Literature: Nursery Rhyme. She's just short, and also has a tendency to mostly analyze children's books. Some speculate she may be related to Alice due to the physical similarities they share.

Ethics and Politics: Lu Bu. He mostly focuses on anarchy, and is a heavy critic of politicians and leaders who don't fight their own battles in general. He's also never seen without a polearm of some sort.

That's most of what you need covered covered. Francis Drake takes care of logistics whenever arranging any sort of trip or the like comes around, and she's also perfectly willing to teach anyone how to drive, provided you pay her to do so. Li Shu Wen and Robin Hood are the school's security officers. Li Shu Wen has been known to deliver paralyzed trespassers to the police and Robin Hood has been known to never return what he finds after school hours are over. Monji Gatou is the standby janitor (who never actually does his job because he's busy spreading his faith).

Now, for the students...

Okay. In no particular order...

Kishinami Hakuno (Gender Undefined): Second Year Student (Junior). Caught in the middle of a colossal mess of a love dodecahedron. Bland in appearance and attitude, those who are not affected wonder how someone so plain could wind up attracting the attentions of so many, so diverse and so interesting people. Usually very quiet and seemingly lacking a direction in life. Despite everything else, Hakuno has a strange, yet powerful ability to draw out people's latent issues, making them confess and helping them get over said issues. Usually without actually doing anything.

Tohsaka Rin: The school's idol. She's regarded as a genius by everyone and is known to have both incredible brains as well as considerable physical attributes. To the student body at large, as far as they know she just inexplicably fell in love with Hakuno one day and has been a tsundere about it ever since. She's in second year. Rin has an ongoing rivalry with Rani VIII, and their struggles and clashes for Hakuno's affection are the stuff of legend. She's also the object of Shinji Matou's precocious crush, but that's a one way street.

Rani VIII: A student as mysterious as she is exotic, and therefore, alluring. She is less popular than Rin due to the simple fact that she doesn't stand out as much when compared to her, because she is naturally subtler. Much like Rin, however, the student body is mystified as to the origin of her attraction for Hakuno. She's also in second year. From her side, the rivalry with Rin is no less heated. She's the president of the Astrology Club.

Leonardo B. Harway: A home schooled boy who decided to attend high school in an effort to connect with the masses he is destined to lead one day. He's widely seen as a very nice and kind individual, though some believe that he's simply so incredibly conceited and arrogant that he can't even fathom the idea of being rude. Has been known to be a loan shark. Has an unexplained, to the rest of the student body, fixation on Hakuno, which some believe to be romantic interest.

Matou Sakura: A first year student who became unwillingly popular due to being generally too nice for her own good, leading to a lot of people taking advantage of her. Contrary to Rin and Rani, everyone actually does know why she crushed on Hakuno, what with being the sole kind person to not take advantage of her kindness. She's also frequently seen in the nurse's office, and her strange resemblance to the school nurse gets more than the occasional odd look.

Matou Shinji: Sakura's annoying twit of a little brother. Is secretly the brains behind the newest social networking phenomenom, known as the 'Secret Garden'. He likes to pretend he's older than he really is, but he's not fooling anyone. He acts like he's too cool for everyone around him, but secretly just wants to belong. He's seen as somewhat adorable by the female population of Tsukumihara, despite his constant abuse of them, and nobody knows why he's so popular with females except those around Hakuno's circle of friends/love interests. He also has a motherfucking tank in his garage.

Alice, no surname known: a classmate of Shinji's, known to be an acting prodigy the likes of which has never been seen. Or she could possibly be just flat out nuts. Nobody is sure whether she's remaining in character to prepare for the culture festival play in which she's supposed to play the lead role in Alice in Wonderland, or if she's just nuts. Shinji is creeped out by her. Has been known to decapitate rabbits on occassion.

Now, for the Servants:

Emiya Shirou (AKA Archer, because that's what he does): often confused with a surfer dude due to the dark tan and light hair. He and Rin might've been involved at some point, but nobody's really sure. The star captain of the Archery club, overall handyman around the school and sex symbol for both men and women (mostly men though). He's also known to be yet another one of the people who've fallen to Hakuno's unknown charms. He's in third year. He's also secretly a superhero, though his secret identity isn't fooling anyone.

Cú Chulaínn: Everyone knows that his original name was Setanta, but everyone calls him Lancer anyway. Gleeful delinquent, but he's also known to be one of the people to go to if you're being bullied, as he always relishes an excuse to beat the crap out of someone who might actually have some degree of ability to defend themselves. May or may not be involved with Tohsaka Rin. He's in third year. Secretly admires Hakuno's ability to attract women who don't cause loads of trouble in the long run.

Nero Claudius Augustus Germanicus Caesar: Or just Red Saber, for short. She's the second best kendoka in the school, behind the club's star Gawain. She's also technically applied for all arts-based clubs, but from the ones she hasn't been kicked out, she's either the only member or holding onto membership by a thread. Fickle. She's Hakuno's most ardent and persistent suitor. She's a third year, but everyone confuses her with the first year students because she's so short.

Gawain, no last name known: The kendo club's ace in the hole. Stoic. When his mask of stoicity is broken, he's proven to have a sharp tongue and a mean disposition. He's also known to be Leonardo's flunky when people fail to own up to their debts. Known to be extremely lethargic at certain times of the day.

Tamamo no Mae: An avid cosplayer who always wears her fox ears and tail. Of all of Hakuno's suitors, she's known to be the most violent one, willing to utilize violence on both her rivals in love and on the object of her affections. Despite her beauty and seemingly docile appearance, she's the most feared amongst the third years. Despite her many, many prior boyfriends, no rumors of promiscuity follow her. They're too busy trying to get her back to spread rumors about her.

Elizabeth Bathory: Much like Tamamo, she's an avid cosplayer, though she prefers to cosplay as a dragon girl rather than a fox girl. She tries to be an idol singer, but it's clear that the talent just isn't there. She's very good in Home Economics, though people are concerned because of her creations in said class, which include lots upon lots of bondage gear. She's allowed to do so freely by the principal, who encourages the exploration of her kinks. She's a second year who supposedly fell in love with Hakuno after being forced to cooperate for a school project.

Gilgamesh Uruk: Nobody knows what his real last name is. Known to be inexplicably the most popular student in the school, despite being far and wide the biggest asshole in the entire school as well. Merely seeing him naked has caused dozens of females, as well as males, to faint on the spot. He quit most school clubs, citing as a reason that he was better at everything than everyone else anyway so he didn't need them. He's only beaten in possessiveness of Hakuno by Tamamo.

Incidentally, Gilgamesh rules the school through popularity, Leo rules the school through everybody owing money to him and
