This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.

Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.

Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Zilch, by the looks of it. I think it's safe for it to go bye bye.

I agree. A tomboy is not a man so the quote doesn't make any sense.

Indeed. That quote is gone now.

I added a quote for Culture Justifies Anything.

I have taken the quote from a longer excerpt from this essay tackling a fictional work:

This raises the question - why is the authentic culture of Slaver's Bay that of the masters and not of the slaves? Going back to the American example, and I'm going to do this a lot in this essay, there are plenty of people today who claim to be advocate for or aficionados of "Southern heritage" - but who choose to define that heritage as a celebration of the Confederacy and the antebellum South. But doesn't Southern heritage also belong to those who fought, resisted, and endured slavery, and who created wonderful music, food, and literature in spite of slavery? Why celebrate the former and not the latter?

Since the page said no real-life examples...I reduced it to:

"Why is the authentic culture that of the masters and not of the slaves?"

Is that okay or do I change it. Or alternatively can I use the full quote?

Mainstream Obscurity and Praising Shows You Don't Watch have the same quote, just worded differently.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.

[up][up]The shortened one is fine. The excerpt was way too long anyway.

[up][up] The latter could have its page quote replaced. Judging by what we have in the respective quotes page, the American Dad one makes a good replacement.

[up][up][up]I think the quote makes more sense in Mainstream Obscurity.

@3905: The second quote from Quotes.Praising Shows You Dont Watch might be a good replacement for that page.

They Changed It, Now It Sucks! doesn't fit the trope. It's about predictability in stories, not source material purists.

Agreed. The first quote listed in the quotes page looks like a good replacement.

[up]Turns out it was the quote, but got changed for no reason. See the page history. I reverted.

Now if that isn't the best quote, we can still discuss it.

Would anyone mind if I changed the page quote on Spaceballs to its opening crawl, to match the pages of the Star Wars movies?

[up]I think you should look up videos of the opening to get a better idea of how it looked, but otherwise I wouldn't mind.

I did that not long after I wrote that post.

I realized the opening crawl wouldn't work as a quote unless someone replaced the picture with something taller, like a poster.

For Massive Damage just says a term that happens to involve a lot of damage, but you have to have played Pokemon to get it (no to mention the user who put it up didn't even cite the games as the source; that just comes across as major Fan Myopia).

It's an index that gets sinkholed as a trope a lot and it likely going to get revamped.

Well that doesn't make the page itself a mess, but just the name at most (yes, I'm admittedly nitpicking here).
