Clocking as inactive.
I have a question which will likely lead another question for two other tropes based on the answer. Does Tall, Dark and Bishoujo apply to Eastern media only? Bishōnen is Eastern only and has a western counterpart of Pretty Boy. So if Tall, Dark and Bishoujo isn't Eastern only, why the name which has basically no counterpart with what would be spear counterpart Tall, Dark, and Handsome?

No, it is not Japanese Media Only.
I despise hypocrisy, unless of course it is my own.Locking up.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Reopening by request and adding crowner.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.I favor redefining it while we're at it. There are plenty of examples that don't fit the appearance aspect of the trope.
I don't see anything wrong with it's current definition. The name's just really misleading.
I personally can't vote for redefining it, unless I have some concrete idea of what we will redefine it into.

"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerAt minimum, needs a rename. Doing nothing is off the table as I know I have seen it misused way too much.
"Polite life will fill you full of cancer." - Iggy Pop "I've seen the future, brother, it is murder." -Leonard CohenMy proposed redefinition is to expand it beyond needing appearance traits. The way I see it the trope is an aloof person that becomes very popular with others. This can be that tall, dark haired aloof girl (what the trope is now) or it can be someone like Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto. The appearance part is something that happens often but not always.

The appearance trait requirement is that the person is tall.
Redefine at 5:1
Rename at 3:3
Nothing at 1:5
It has basically trended like this apart from when rename and redefine were tied at the very beginning. We need more votes, though.
What about splitting in two tropes? One for persons who litterally are Tall, Dark and Bishoujo which is what many seems to expect the trope to be now. And a another new trope for aloof but popular persons who doesn't necessary have a standard look. Sure, it may not solve all problems, but it will certainly reduce the numbers of examples which need to be cut else. And yes, it will make Tall, Dark and Bishoujo into a reel Distaff Counterpart to Tall, Dark, and Handsome but that's what people believe it is anyway. It will be more simple just to take the consequence then. There are examples enough for seperate tropes for each sex, snowclone name or not.
English is an international language, but it doesn't mean that everyone speak it on a daily basis.Arha's proposed redefinition sounds like a Super-Trope to me.
Crowner has been up a week. Top option has a clear lead and a 2:1 consensus, though technically it doesn't really need to have it. We're probably good to go now, but far be it from me to rush the process. Give it until tomorrow or Tuesday? In the meantime, alt names? I like Attractively Aloof.
Edit: As for the appearance thing being strongly tied to the trope, that sounds like a subtrope to me. I do sorta know the character type and I think that apart from the specific look there are a few more characteristics that go along with it. However, that seems like something we should deal with after we've got the supertrope in place.

^ I like it too. But really, anything's better than the current title. It needs to die a horrible death and rot for eternity in hell.
But yeah, I really like that name.
Evil is my favorite color.Consensus is even stronger and it has been nearly two weeks. Ready to go on to the next step?
"Dark Aloof Beauty"? It might also be worth mentioning somewhere that being tall and having waist-length hair are linked; the flow of hair makes you look taller and slimmer. Someone with the right hairstyle, clothes and manner can seem tall compared to those around regardless of how they actually compare physically (in art or in reality).
A blog that gets updated on a geological timescale. That's actually a decent name for the proposed subtrope, but for the moment we're tending towards expanding the trope. Your point about the appearance thing can probably go into the description until said subtrope gets launched if it ever does.
Calling crowner in favor of renaming and redefining.
Evil is my favorite color.Mods call crowners. Anyway, hollering
My troper wallThat's what I did. I hollered.
Sry for the misunderstanding.

Evil is my favorite color.Calling crowner in favor of "Redefine and rename. The trope's core part of an aloof but popular person may be associated with a certain type of appearance, but it can occur without said type of appearance."
The first step is to hash out the new definition.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.I started a sandbox here. For now, I'm operating on the idea that gender doesn't matter and that any common factors in appearance are common but not required.
Okay, here's my proposed definition. First draft, I suppose.
Quiet, distant and antisocial, the Aloof Sandworm is a natural target for obsessive fans. Whether male or female, they tend to have several things in common. For starters, they rarely seek the companionship of others. Instead, they tend to attract almost worshipful fans despite their apparent disinterest. In addition, they're usually not big talkers and are frequently largely inexpressive in general.
If the character is male, expect them to be The Stoic and perhaps a bit of a bad boy. A brooding and moody attitude works wonders, apparently.
If the character is female then in certain works she may end up as the local Onee-sama figure. Commonly, they will also be pale and with long black hair, possibly even waist length. Finally, they'll tend to be taller than most of the other girls.
Either way, the character is likely to have few real close friends, if any.

Crown Description:
Currently, Tall Dark And Bishoujo appears to have a large deal of misuse that follows a pattern of interpreting the title literally and not including the personality aspects inherent to the trope. The following suggestions for remedying the problem have been brought forward.
Yes, if the character description doesn't give you enough information to tell if it applies, which it usually doesn't. The criteria for a good example is "does this adequately explain to someone who hasn't seen the work how the trope applies to this character/incident". That's true for both the work page and the trope page.
