HK HEAD FIRED: Heckler & Koch Chair and CEO Norbert Scheuch Forced Out
According to a press release issued earlier today by Heckler & Koch, the Chairman of the Executive Board and Chief Executive Officer of parent company H&K AG Norbert Scheuch has been terminated from his position by the supervisory board. The release also stated that Wolfgang Hesse, the current sole Executive Board member, would be taking over operations for Heckler & Koch until Scheuch’s replacement can be appointed.
Interesting (but not Wash "interesting"* ) time at the range today.
I'm in my lane, about half-way through the box of 100 I brought. Fire a round, and somehow the case didn't clear the ejection port, so when the slide returned forward it got caught in the port. Lock the slide back, clear it, and take a quick look down into the mechanism after dropping the mag. Didn't see anything abnormal inside, so I reloaded and finished the session with no further issues.
When I field disassembled it for cleaning afterwards, I still didn't see anything wrong with it, so I'm guessing it's one of those random "huh, that's odd" things, not a portent of pending disaster.
I think I may still go see about a local gunsmith to check it out anyway, though, even if one mildly problematic event* out of 1200 rounds isn't exactly an everyday occurrence.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpCould have been a slightly weaker cartridge, like you said quirk of the material in general, or just luck. It is ok if it happens every once in a while. It is when you keep getting it you should take it in. I am going to assume you cleaned it up after shooting to make sure.

Who watches the watchmen?I've experienced stovepiping with both handguns and rifles. Usually not very typical and thus far it has never heralded a firearms disaster. I usually just chalk it up to random chance, maybe a round clips the edge of the ejection port and loses too much inertia before the bolt or slide returns.
Yeah, I gave it a full cleaning (as I said in the penultimate paragraph of my last post), though that's what I was going to do anyway since the round count from today's session made it to the schedule I set myself to avoid dropping into "let it slide" until it slides off into Jamville.
(Though, in another forum one person with an XDS in .45 was said to have gotten to like 5k rounds with only a quick wipedown after each shooting session before the gunk buildup was affecting accuracy. Being on teh intarwebz, though, I'm inclined to take that with a grain or two of salt. )

All your safe space are belong to TrumpSorry I should have been more clear. I meant extra attention on the extractor/ejector bits.
Who watches the watchmen?Ah, ok. And yeah, I did pay extra attention to that mechanism. Didn't see any abnormalities, though.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpThats good. Sometimes some gunk can get in there and make it hang up a bit. Not exactly going to happen a lot unless your reckless with lube or forget to clean all the bits that need PMC.
Who watches the watchmen? So I've learned to stay off the comments sections of sites like TFB. Because a lot of it can be summed up as "wait why does this country which is not America not work like America?".
"Yup. That tasted purple."Yeah it isn't all that different from youtube in some regards.
Who watches the watchmen?Which is especially unproductive on the topic of guns because as far as having easy access to killing implements go, no country in the world works like America.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.Well apparently all police officers in the UK are like the ones from Demolition Man because they don't carry guns. Or something.
"Yup. That tasted purple."They have tasers, pepper spray and batons. Some have guns, too. But, they need permission to use them in very specific circumstances and need to account for every shot.
We have fewer fatalities during arrest on both sides.
There's a link.
The US is the one who's weird, and this is, like, so not news

True, some countries have substantially fewer barriers to getting guns. I'm not aware of very many of them being particularly nice places to be, granted.
https://www.quora.com/Can-anyone-identify-the-North-Korean-weapon-displayed-here
This is about the Type 88 aka the North Korean counterpart of the AK-74. Someone from South Korea (based on the info about its variants) mentions an AKS-74U like weapon called the Type 88-3. FYI, some sources call it the Type 98.
And some trivia, Ethiopia uses the 88s during the Cold War, although they didn't get enough to arm the army.
So a firearm was negligently discharged in the cadet dorms at Texas A&M University.
Fortunately, nobody was killed.
Cadidiots?
"Yup. That tasted purple."Both are dumb fucks. In order for that to go off someone had to be fucking with the trigger. That and you are supposed to unload and show clear when handing over a fire arm in a setting described as letting others examine the piece.
Who watches the watchmen? This. Load, chamber, safety-at least 3 screw ups during a check before you even think about handling a weapon, plus ignoring rule zero-a gun is always loaded, even when it is not.
A negligent discharge by a cadet? Woof.

The fact that Glocks don't typically come with safeties certainly didn't help, but yeah, they've yet to make a gun that can hold a bullet in the chamber after you've unloaded and cleared it.
Actually a lot of Glocks have a safety built into the trigger. So literally the only way you can fuck it up is by doing one of the things your not supposed to be doing, that is fingering the bang switch with a booger hook.
That was one of my huge pet peeves as an armorer was some numb nuts fucking up gun clearing and handing me an uncleared weapon muzzle first.

InRange TV review, including the literal drowning in mud test. Spoiler: It can't fire after that much mud.
Seems good in the field, although the largest hurdle is Kel-Tec's limited manufacturing capacity ensuring that not much can roll off the production line quickly... without Kel-Tec's infamous QC problems cropping up.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot
