Hmmm...that's more acceptable, I think, though I don't think she'll have the wolves right off the bat; you'll get them later on, once her essence has gotten somewhat stronger.

[up] It's probably better that way: I can't imagine a recently-Ascended Merja managing to take care of two grumpy and snarling bloodthirsty wolves.

No it could not, death, which is why I suggested that you pick someone else.

Name: Ciaron Peters

Age: 17

Gender: Male

History: No one knows who he came from, as he was dropped off in St. Peters orphanage in Chicago, Illinois of the USA as an infant one day, and as luck would have it he never got picked up by anyone, and wound up staying there until he was 16 when he and some (older) mates got enough money to rent an apartment together. He spent his childhood mainly in the run down suburbs section of the town, and though he played with the other kids he never was exactly socially focused, with his temper not helping things, often getting into trouble by starting fights and even got expelled once. Still, he was a relatively happy child who found other ways to excite himself. He turned to urban exploration as a source to keep him entertained, and he took delight in it, and by the time the story starts he had learned how to scale the tallest towers in town, as well as a few less than stellar skills such as lockpicking. His community was not the best, and he learned crime from a young age, and made most of his money through petty thievery, even smuggling on occasion. The beginning of his senior year is beginning as the story starts, and he was beginning to wonder just what he should do with his life; he had never been exactly book smart, so his future was looking somewhat bleak. As it would turn out, though, he doesn't have to worry about that after all...

Personality: He's rather selfish, and doesn't care much for other people. He has always been somewhat short-tempered and proud, and he would gladly steal everything you have if he doesn't like you very much, or at least what you don't need, for that's the peculiar thing about Ciaron; though he definitely wouldn't care to help a stranger, he has always had a nagging consciousness in the corner of his mind that bugs him on occasion, and he refuses to do anything really dirty such as killing or utterly ruining peoples lives. He's very much a chaotic neutral character in that he hates being tied down; the things he values above all are his life and his freedom, with the occasional flashes of chaotic good. When he owes someone however or when someone has been generous to him, he just can't bring himself to do nothing for them when they are needy, and he REALLY will get into an internal struggle if, say, it comes down to people getting killed directly because of his actions; not indirectly, mind you, but directly. He's kind of a wanderer in that he doesn't have an explicit goal in life, as well. He's fascinated by being high up and he is different from most people in that he loves the night. In fact, he feels much safer in shadows than he does in light, where he feels somewhat exposed; it certainly helps that he can see pretty well in the dark....Also, he's a Chaste Hero.

Appearance: Medium height and build. He's toned and athletic, but not overly muscular. He has a passive, almost but not quite mean look to him usually. Black hair, green eyes, nose is slightly crooked thanks to being broken in a fight as a kid. When he becomes deity-like, he gains a massive star-sprinkled cloak, and his entire skin becomes dark and star-y as well, growing more pronounced the closer it is to night; in the day, he looks almost normal, except his skin seems to have little diamonds put in it, and as it grows darker he begins to grow darker as well until it looks almost like he is transparent and the stars are especially pronounced.

Innate abilities: Highly athletic and agile, and is good at getting around objects quickly and scaling things, in an almost parkour fashion (think people like Assassins Creed people, only more realistic). Has been learning how to move without being heard or seen since he was little, and now he is very stealthy when he wants to be.

Devine Essence: Ratri, Hindu deity of the night.

Powers: The dark doesn't inhibit his vision, and when he steps into heavily shadowed areas he becomes nearly invisible, though if he tries moving quickly he becomes visible. When it's night out, he gains several buffs such as increased strength, durability, and regeneration, and he will occasionally get flashes of plot-important things that happen elsewhere during the night. When it's day out, he's human in terms of attributes, though. No matter what time of day it is, he's able to make a target feel exhausted, though that's only on one target and it needs another good 5 minutes at least to recharge; mortals will be severely hindered, yet supernaturals will find it only troubling and fades after about a minute. Otherwise in open combat he'll have to rely on agility to keep himself alive...in fact, he's really not useful as a front line fighter. Be interesting if we ever need a stealth mission, though.

Double post for sign-up, sorry.

Here we go...

  • Name: Esther "Essie" Linscott.
  • Age: 22.
  • Gender: Female.
  • History: The child of a divorced marriage, Esther grew up with her father, who wasn’t a particularly child-friendly role model, though essentially good-hearted. She had an unusual upbringing, father and daughter bonding over hunting (though Essie usually just shot wildly rather than aiming), card games and his various military expeditions. When Esther was nearing graduation, her father went missing in action- rather than move in with her birth mother, she dropped out of school, cut her hair, and joined the military.
  • Personality: Hot-Blooded Daddy's Girl, with a dash of The Snark Knight and Smug Smiler. She smirks a lot and quite confident in her ability to kick ass, but is essentially a pretty friendly, righteous and enthusiastic character- to allies. Though she holds her deity's commands very seriously, for the beginning she is most enthusiastic of te role because of the association of military and death with her own father- initally, she's just a wild, Iron Woobie- something her divine essence will struggle to change. This very personality flaw is what causes her to latch onto her deity's personal values so desperately, and is her call for change, though she will struggle to fit Mars' objectives- in any case, she is deadly loyal to him. Fond of heavy-handed weapons such as battle axes and war-hammers and other BFS's, and in other cases More Dakka.
  • Appearance: Euro-looking- rather short but fairly strong girl. Short jagged blonde hair, with boring brown eyes, a few freckles and an infectious grin- a vaguely European accent. She is fond of berets and other nice hats. If anyone ruins her hat, they’re going to get knifed in the face. Otherwise she's pretty low fare, indulging in nice coats and tank tops and cowboy boots.
  • Innate Abilities: Abilities with military .
  • Divine Essence: Mars, the Roman God of War, War Strategy, Wolves and Death by Combat.
  • Powers, traits and abilities: She has an amount of control over her domains, weaponry, war strategy, combat, and wolves. In combat, she is able to instinctively sense flaws in an opponent's strategy or ability. She has a limited command over weapons, in some cases able to fend off attacks due to sheer willpower- however, this ability is quite unreliable. She's also able to adapt to different weapons more easily than others. In addition, wolves have a more distinct loyalty to her. I want to leave control over death as an unreachable domain for now, but eventually she will be able to have some sort of command over the dead who died of combat.
  • Awakened Appearance: She grows taller and stronger, clothed in Roman battle-wear, most notably a bronze galea with a blood-red plume. Her features grow more animalistic and wolf-like, and her eyes are red with a burning sensation that also lingers on her shoulders and fingertips.

If she's too powered or is flawed or too similar to another character, please tell me.

Question- is the deity embody an actual voice or character in the roleplay? Also, from which era do the Godlings originate?

The godlings originate in the modern era. As to the gods, it varies, but they usually manifest as voices in the godlings' heads, and there were cases of the essences taking control of the godlings - Sugaar taking control of Terrance, for example.

Some gods are also more quiet- Nuada, the Morrigan- and one is essentially a divine information centre.

What they've said basically sums it up as far as the deities are concerned.

Hmm...have you been keeping up with the game itself, Aralyn?

Without lying in an attempt to get into the game? smile

I've read a few pages, but not really kept with it, no, but it's 21 pages. I can archive binge, I've done more before.

Edit: And now I want to change to Prometheus because I'm not really sure what I can do with Mars...but.

I have no issue with Esther's powers or history, though her personality does concern me somewhat; in the previous game, we had a character whose behaviour was quite similar to that described here in many respects, and, well...saying that this character was incredibly disruptive and caused more problems for the other players than she solved somehow doesn't seem to adequately describe it.

As such, some aspects of Esther's personality might need to be toned down a notch.

Sure smile I was going for more conflict, but seeing as you had problems in a previous game, I have no qualms with notching her down a bit.

I'm not sure about it yet, but would it be any trouble if I submitted another character? I might, but probably not.

Edit: There. I hope that's better smile.

The thing is with the deities is I'm not sure what Mars can really achieve, since his domain of war strategy is a bit vague and I feel like if I'm not careful, Esther could fall either way too strong or way too weak in comparison to the rest of the Godlings.

Eh. I should let it evolve, maybe.
