So, I've just watched Ep.22.

Oh, Crap!, that's a Wham Episode, with more than a few things straight from End Of EvangelionThe End of the World as We Know It?

Maybe the answer lies in Maycun's lost memories somewhere? And judging by the ED, Yurikano is involved somewhere. On a lighter note, Grania has got one hell of a Subordinate Excuse, hasn't she?

@ Myssa: I can't help but agree there.

The most fitting piece of music that came to mind:

Villiagiulio's...? No, that can't be! That just can't be true!

DAMMIT DIZELMINE! Never should have listened to Moid.

On a positive note: the three guys are back in action, the three girls do a weird triple cheek pinching session, Uncle Hiroshi makes lunch (good thing too, since the girls apparently get... stranded, Madoka delivers a splendid axe roundhouse kick, and basically we're on a rollercoaster ride again~

EVERYTHING'S OKAY!

GOOGLEVIDEO IS ALIVE!

THE INEVITABLE VOX COMBINATION TECHNIQUE IS REALLY DISAPPOINTING!

BUT THERE MIGHT BE ANOTHER THING COMING, NOT ALL THAT MUCH WAS FIXED, IT JUST IS GOING TO BE!

...wonder what the last episode is to bring...

So.

...that was...sort of a predictable ending...not really all that interesting. Sure things were wrapped up, but...eh...

And they never just out-and-out said their feelings! grr, all the rage

...so it sure is over.

I'm not sure whether to call it a generic ending or not, but I still liked it.

[up][up]I do certainly hope for that. Though gameplay-wise, the units would seem a bit...lacking? The Mooks of the series tended to just stand still and get dead and be even less effectual than Leos. And we didn't see all THAT much combat potential from the Voxes. Aura had, what, a few improv-style things that could maybe qualify (the German suplex from the first episode is obligated to be the finisher though), a sword, and whatever the hell those plus part things added. Rympha had a rifle and a machine gun or two, and Ignis had the dual sword and...hell if I know anything else. Kirius, Izo, and Array would be pretty good playables too, though I need to poke back at the first episodes when they saw any extensive action.

...could those of you a bit more observant maybe compile a potential attack list for the important units? ._.

Actually I wasn't too bothered how everything was conveniently wrapped up, especially where Yurikano was concerned, given how things matched with the themes and general tone of the show.

I think people were expecting something more bittersweet, ESPECIALLY after things went "BEAUTIFUL FLOWERY INSTRUMENTALITY TAKE TWO!" Really guys, the flowery equivalent of Tang wasn't really an option here.

Also this conclusion was a sight better to the other Mecha show ending (coughs Gundam AGE ''coughs), and much more satisfying.

Oh, I didn't say it was a BAD ending by any means. Just felt a bit...standard? Not anything profound or memorable or otherwise standing out to me, just...doing its job. It didn't make much of a statement as I kinda felt the show was trying to do.

...Maybe it wasn't about that, yes. That's kind of the slice of life formula there, that while some obstacle or event may have gone over, things will keep continuing. But then, the show set itself up on a far grander scale. It had a tight focus on one little town against the backdrop of galactic collisions and the entire planet being covered in grape Jello, and certainly explored those, but something felt...missing? I'm not quite sure.

Also, poked at what came with the Robot Spirits releases of the Vox, and...uh...I kinda covered all the weapons (I never knew they had shields though!). I thought the expansion packs gave them more weapons, but it turns out, they gave them just those and they had absolutely nothing in the way of armament until then. Huh.

I think the Rinne was tired of his shit. I at least THINK Madoka, Lan, and Mugi knew he was the one playing everyone, and since it's implied with the Vox they sorta have control of the Rinne, they just sorta poofed him to be trapped there and take the place of Yurikano.

Indeed, in one way, he actually got what he wanted. He can listen to the voice of the Rinne. Alone. Forever. Kind of fitting, I think.

I have to say, I was tickled by the fact how everyone in important positions took up wearing jerseys.

Assuming there actually is such a voice, and he's not just crazy and forgetting what parts of the legend he made up and which parts are real.

There WAS a voice! The Jersey Club song! ^_^

...no, I actually wouldn't doubt that at all. The Rinne was directly connected to those with the Memoria, after all, and who's to say it's dependent on time? Madoka's voice of JERSEY CLUB SPIRIT certainly could resonate throughout the ages.

True, now I've watched it — the ending fitted the show — it's no Macross Frontier, but at least it's better than Mai Hime...

It all ends well, and They Lived Happily Ever After*

Space Sweats Club for the win.

The finale left me with a big smile on my face. That's it really. Even Moid's death made me crack a grin. So, there, nothing memorable as far as last episodes go, but it was a nice watch.

Regaining interest in watching this.

I was always intrigued at Madoka's and others' uniforms - they reminded me of, say, astronauts or engineers or something (it looks like they turned out to be some kind of pilots after all). Now on hindsight I saw that they were comparable to regular track suits, but still.

If you mean the orange Jersey Club outfits, they are regular tracksuits. If you mean the pilot suits, they're too skimpy to really make me think of astronauts or whatever.

Anyway, that ending was... dissatisfying. But I discovered that the manga spinoff (which started running before the anime) apparently focuses on Yurikano and the dude trio. Yay, a reason to care about them.

Honestly, there was some feel of "wait, I'm supposed to care about these people?" when watching season 2, so I'm guessing I should've started on the manga earlier.

Hey everyone. I wanted to ask a couple questions here, because I've been talking about how to interpret the series with a few people lately:

1. How fitting would you say the following interpretation is?

The series is about how the events that transpired affected Madoka Kyouno, how she responded to them, and the memories they left.

2. How fitting would you say the above interpretation is for only the first season, by itself?

1. Not even close.

Of course, that answer's under a deliberately narrow reading, because otherwise you could shoehorn any work into that description.

2. ...Eh, if you really, REALLY don't want to see season 2.

Hmm, that is consistent with my suspicions. As I might have mentioned in that other thread where you replied to me, I've been arguing with a few people lately about the merits of the series, and they contended that the series failed to put enough emphasis on or sufficiently explain (or something like that) the whole war context and that sort of stuff, while I contended that that didn't matter since it was primarily about how Madoka saw the events as they flashed by her in a short time, and the experiences she went through as a result of them.

After a while, I noticed they also argued that the series was not complete with just the first season alone, while I felt it was (mostly). Then I realized that the key difference seemed to lie in the fact that I haven't seen the second season, but they have, and as a result of this, I have a different interpretation of the series.

I still think that the first season can stand alone; there are multiple cues in the last episode of season 1 that support my argument — the tearful goodbye, the bookending with the remix of TRY UNITE, and a statement from Madoka saying that this was how the (in-universe) season ended. That said, I'll admit that this probably wasn't the intended interpretation — I've heard that the story was planned into two seasons from the start, and there are also multiple cues that they intend to continue onto a second season, not the least of which is the big advertisement for the second season at the end of the episode.

Curiously, though, when the first season finished, I was actually a bit surprised that when I heard that there would be a second season...
