Isn't Luke supposed to be 20 though? And he's around 22 or so during the Empire Strikes Back.

Fun fact; when I first watched Star Wars I thought Luke was fourteen.

They could have started with the Clone Wars, ended the second movie with Anakin going to the dark side and made the third movie about the length Obiwan went to protect Luke and Leia.

That's exactly the trilogy I'd prefer.

As much as I like Phantom, it's so disconnected from the larger conflict and Attack of the Clones retreads all the relevant bits.

That format also allows you to include some twists beyond who Darth Sidious is.

Any of you folks watched these videos yet? They're actually pretty good.

I'm still waiting for Episode 3. I'm not crazy about Obi-Wan being the main character of the prequels, but he has some good ideas.

I think his ideas raise too many problems his videos don't have time to address.

Planning a film well can not be done in any time frame You Tube can support. It's far to integrate a process.

Luke was 19 in ANH. I don't believe this was a retcon.

And as to the discrepancy as to Obi-Wan's age, I believe this came from a change that was made to the original TPM script. The first draft had Obi-Wan as already a Master, but it was decided that to fit with the Passing the Torch theme of the Saga, how Obi-Wan got his start should be shown. Thus Qui-Gon came into being, and the end result of this is Obi-Wan turned out to be a decade or so younger than originally implied.

Qui-Gon Jin is awesome though. And I do like the aspect of Obi-Wan and Count Dooku being the two people who knew the lot Qui-Gon the most and you can believe they'd almost want to reconcile over that.

I put Obi-Wan maybe as 25 or so in Ep I. I mean, knighthood does not have to mean the human age of majority, does it? Plus it seemed implied that he was held back a bit by Qui Gon, which would put him at 35 in II, 38 in III, and 57 in IV, which is believable for a guy who's lived in the desert for 19 years. That shit ages you prematurely.

Another thing I like about Qui-Gon is it encourages Anakin and Oni-Wan to be brothers rather than father and son.

I've been lurking, but I figured I'd add that although I consider Phantom Menace easily the weakest of the 6 Star Wars films, taking the movie for what it is Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are legitimately fun to watch in it and one of the main reasons why I don't consider it as irredeemably bad as everyone seems to think it is.

That's why it's better than Attack Of The Clones or A New Hope.

There just isn't the same real connection between Luke and Obi-Wan like the latter had with Qui-Gonn. Maybe it's because Neeson and Mac Gregor had (understandably) more chemistry than Guiness (who didn't give a shit) and Hamill (inexperienced), or perhaps it's because Lucas was still working out the whole series and thus used the most basic mentor-apprentice relationship to be safe....but it's just not there.

Also Jake Lloyd did a great job (not fantastic mind you) with what was given.

Well, Lego Batman was on the Millenium Falcon once. Does that count?

Whatever else Zach Snyder might do with Batman Vs Superman, I really love this whole competition thing he has going on JJ Abrams.

It provides much geeky joy.

It IS pretty great. I really appreciate that Abrams has been giving us this neat little glimpses of the vehicles, like the Falcon or the new X-Wing in that force for change video.

Here's something cool (at least I think so, anyway): the very last shot of the Legends continuity. Perhaps fittingly, it's an And the Adventure Continues.

That's Great! Comic books have often run multiversal continuities, so it's nice to know they'll let the Legends one stand with a not-ending.

[up] Even better: this issue (Legacy volume 2, issue 18) is both the last EU work published before the new continuity policy takes effect and the chronologically latest SW work, period. This is how the "previous canon" ends... and you know what? I'm totally okay with it. The Wikia's synopsis also mentions that the One Sith falls, so presumably the villains who escaped at the end of volume 1 also get theirs; always good to see.

So I had completly missed that one of the first new books in the new EU is going to be a book about Tarkin by the author who gave us the great Darth Plagueis book. And it comes out on my birthday!grin

Nice.

Could be a good way to assess any changes made to the backstory, since Tarkin's career was fairly well-documented in the old EU.
