Steam Sale 5: Son of Zombie Turkey Santa's Revenge: Electric Boogaloo

Well, seeing as the thread of last year's sales started at the Thanksgiving event, I might as well start things off at this time.

And now we have the return of the B-movie labelling of the thread, since that didn't occur to me the last time... :P

So we got a weekend of Magicka, Bejeweled 3 and a whole load of indie games to look at while we await what will kick off the event on monday.

Provided they still do the wishlist raffling, here's what I got in mind.

My wallet is not ready.

Hmm... from what I see, last year's sale began on a Wednesday and ended the following Tuesday, so it's likely going to be that way too, in time for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Guess I'm somewhat embarrassed about how early I posted this...

What, skyrim isn't in sale at all? ;-;

Well, it did come out less than two weeks ago. As did Saints Row 3. Damn it.

I'll be waiting for a Fallout franchise sale.

Of course not. It is far too popular and far too recent game be on sale right now. Heck, how long has it been? 2 weeks since it released? I guess there is a possibility that it will be on sale during christmass, but I wouldnt bet on it.

And I missed the Sins of Solar Empire sale by a day. Shoot.

The problem with this year's sales are going to be the sales that I already own one or two of the games in and won't be able to take advantage of the huge discount. Example: I already own A!!!-ARDFG and TWEOTW from last year, so the Dejobaan Complete Pack is not that useful for me.

EDIT: My wishlist, but it will probably change here soon. I don't keep it up-to-date.

Check the Bethesda-specific sales. I'm currently debating whether to go for Fallout3 vanilla or GOTY Edition.

Well, I see that all things Bethesda (aside of course from Skyrim, given it's a recent release and all) are half off, so I'm waiting for the time I get all the New Vegas DLC for $10.

EDIT: Just got Portal 2 and Orcs Must Die. Now waiting for the DLC and I may be content for that sale.

Getting GOTY is usually the best deal of anything, so go for that if you can.

Whelp, might as well get Black Ops. Played on the PS3, it was nice for a mindless shooter.

If you opt for Vanilla, I hope you at least get Broken Steel as well.

Is the Mass Effect 2 Deluxe Edition worth the extra £3 over the normal edition?

Also, Sam And Max Complete Pack yesyesyesyesyesyesyes.

I've already bought the final three New Vegas DLC's I was missing, Orcs Must Die plus the DLC's, and The Mawesome Pack.

I have a little over 5 bucks left, and I'm currently thinking to hold off and see what the rest of the week's 'major sales' will be before deciding to use it.

Portal 2 GET!

Currently agonizing over whether to buy the New Vegas DLC and Arkham Asylum. I still think $20 is too much to pay for all the DLC and Arkham Asylum isn't dirt cheap either. But I WANT them. Aaargh.

One word of advice: Unless the product is cheap enough from an initial sale (or if you're sure it will be worth the money), try not to buy a product until there's a special on the front page. If it doesn't show up, then do buy on the last day.

Tends to save the embarrassment of having a better sale on the item you just bought a day or a week before. Trust me, it happened to me more than once.

^^Arkham Asylum has gone for much cheaper than that (I've seen it go for $7.50 or even $5) so wait for a better sale than that.

Oh, and in case this interests you:

The Cthulhu Saves The World/Breath Of Death VII bundle is on sale for $1. That's practically pocket change, so get it!

Also, Recettear is $10, which is a bargain if you ask me, and Chantelise is $5.

So far my haul is Sam & Max Season 2: Pretty happy with it, it is Sam & max after all. Sonic Adventure DX: Extremely shoddy port, I've heard the initial PC release from 2004 is much better, so if you want this on PC, get that version instead. Sonic 2 & Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Complete opposite of the above, the steam version of these is the definitive version, as is any other Genesis game on steam

All of that was 16 dollars total, so it was a steal even if the version of Sonic Adventure is crap.

It certainly seems like this sale will have some great deals, plus they'll probably have their annual Steam winter sale, so Valve will probably do an excellent job of making us all bankrupt this year.
