"It began with the internet. But then, it always does."~Eoin ColferI saw it on Sy Fy and already set it to record. Hadn't seen any footage from the show until now, though. Thanks for posting.
It certainly looks interesting, especially having Hook being sort of a friend of Peter's.
Oh...and the lady pirate. Awesome lady pirate deserves mention as well ^.^

Rawrz?I WANT TO SEE THIS SO VERY MUCH.
And LOL @ Bob Hoskins playing Smee... again.
Fantastic Weapon Generator!Wait. Is that Chuck from Pushing Daisies? As a Pirate Queen?
Whatisthisidonteven.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet. Also, I'm curious to see how they'll handle the Native Americans. Barrie's portrayal, while hardly ill-intentioned, is downright awkward today, and many adaptations of the story have been... well, really racist.
Fantastic Weapon Generator!Indeed it can be argued that the Disney interpretation was actually more racist than the original.
Interesting, I think this is the second time Hoskins has played Smee.
Is it me or, from the trailer at least, is the Ho Yay between Hook and Peter turned Up To Eleven?
Trump delenda estYeah, Disney made it worse.
And yes, this is the second time Bob Hoskins is playing Smee. XD
And dude, if you're seeing Ho Yay between Hook and Peter Pan, I think you need to tune your Ho Yay detector's sensitivity down a notch. :P
Fantastic Weapon Generator!Well, I am a Dirty Old Man so I trend to see Yay everywhere wether it turns me on or not. Ho Yay, Les Yay, Incest Yay, Loli Yay, you name it.

Trump delenda estWell, personally, I thought part 1 was pretty awesome.
I really like Neverland's design, since in this version they're making it its own planet, it works well. Little things, like the crocodiles having six legs, really help the otherworldly aspect to shine. The boy playing Peter is doing a great job, and Rhys Ifans (?) as Hook is really intriguing. And look, 'Indians' that aren't racist!
Tiger Lily is a little underwhelming to me. Hopefully she'll get more of a chance to shine in part 2.

"It began with the internet. But then, it always does."~Eoin ColferSaw it tonight with a couple of good friends.
I am very intrigued so far, although I'm having a hard time getting behind Peter as the protagonist. Reasoning below in spoilers:
I just don't understand how Peter was so quick to drop Hook like a hot potato upon seeing him with the pirate lady. I mean, here's a man who rescued him from what was probably a hellish workhouse, took care of both him and several other children, gave them food, sheltered them, and trained them to survive on the streets. Yes, he taught them to be pickpockets, but at least he wasn't like Fagin in Oliver Twist.
In addition, when Peter sees Hook with the pirate lady, he NEVER lets Hook explain what's going on. Even though Hook is with this women because he sees it as the best way to get the kids and himself out of this crazy world and is trying his best to keep them safe, Peter refuses to listen to him, which ends up getting a friend killed. What the hell, Peter?
The biggest "WTF IS YOUR PROBLEM?!" moment came when Hook reveals that he is Peter's real father. This means that he gave up his high position in society, his wealth, and his prestige, EVERYTHING, to find his child and take care of him. And yet Peter rejects him, acts like Hook has just personally murdered his friends or something. I realize that this Peter is rather young and therefore acts impulsively, but why won't he give the father figure who's loved him any credit or any chance at all?
When you've chosen an actor who is so wooden she makes Kristen Stewart look like a genius, you know you've done something wrong. That is all.
Fantastic Weapon Generator!Thought it was interesting. Didn't expect Charles Dance.
Huh. Woman Hook? The hair makes sense now. Huh. Artful dodgers. Peter uses a recorder? Huh. Barrels. Finally, where doing a barrel roll is important. Huh. Charles Dance. There is nothing that isn't improved by judicious application of - "Suddenly, Vetinari!"
Holy holly - they're skipping the dual role bit with Hook/Mr. Darling and just essentially making them the same guy. Nice.
@Accela: I think part of Peter's problem was that Hook was all gung-ho about killing the "savage" Makah people (at least, I think that's what they're supposed to be), whom Peter had just learned were actually pretty nice.
Fantastic Weapon Generator!Didn't watch too much of it, but yeah Peter was a dick.
I think everything would have stopped going so horribly wrong if Peter hadn't continued insisting on screaming at his father figure and pointing a gun at him.
I know that Hook going bad was a foregone conclusion, but I really wish he hadn't descended into the usual FOR THE EVULZ creep he became towards the end. I did find a parallel with Snape (guy loves girl, girl marries other guy, girl and other guy die, first guy looks after child while resenting him) that put a sort of interesting spin on Hook's character.
But I just can't help it. I REALLY loved Hook in the first half. He was interesting, complex, and displayed genuine affection and love for Peter, which I have a real soft spot for. I always love scenes in which dads or dad figures show love towards their children. Seeing Hook turn into an almost cartoonish, raving, homicidal maniac just felt like a real letdown.
That said, DAMN Hook was sexy the whole time. And he played Luna Lovegood's father in the first part of Deathly Hallows. I squeed when I recognized him.
What I want to know is why did they pick someone to play Tiger Lily who has the face of Herman Munster?
And boy did I call it on the Peter/Hook Ho Yay.
