"Our job, Mr. Leanbow."

Kribnefka looked Shantotto over, raising an eyebrow.

"And for the record, doctor, that form is CERTAINLY consistent."

Kane apparently lost interest in his pile of glass, and followed others through the portal.

If anyone were to notice though, as soon as he was through, he seemed to go...utterly silent, simply looking around at everything in what seemed like stunned silence.

"So... Portals are your job? What? Do we think with them?" Leanbow asked the Dragonborn.

Jack grinned a bit at how Alex and Axl were becoming fast friends before jumping. It gave the mostly stoic and cold Chaser a nice feeling whenever friendships were made.

The ex-marine managed to get through the portal with little hitch. Some of the passersby made odd looks at his arm, but none did not react beyond that. The rest of his teammates, however, were garnering for more attention, particularly Liberty Prime, whom despite looking like an average ten year girl, still sounded like a giant communist burning robot, and Crocker with his inane chatter.

"She's actually a giant robot inside a tiny costume," Jack explained to Alex. "Just roll with it."

It was then Jack noticed some sort of odd, red stone embedded on the back of his mechanical hand. He certainly did NOT put that in there. Probably one of those locators Sec mentioned. He noticed it was already beeping.......

The process of transformation was a little bit jarring. There seemed to be something in the spell to prevent outright pain, but having ears recede into her shifting skull while her internal organs rubbed against one another was still a very weird experience.

At the end of it, Shantotto's size and overall proportions hadn't changed much; she was a little larger than before, but still resembled a small girl by human standards, with the same shoulder-length blonde hair and brown eyes (although these were now the smaller eyes of a human). Her clothes still fit well enough to pass.

"Hmm, yes... this will suffice." She smiled the same cocky little grin as always, which lowered into a more neutral expression as she glanced towards the Dragonborn. "But if I remember correctly, isn't 'cute' a more accurate descriptor for one of my size?"

Crocker approached Liberty Prime, analysing the little creature. He tapped his chin, and soon pointed his magic tracker at Prime. He frowned when the tracker didn't bleep:

"Well, it looks like you're not a magical creature. But how can you look like an innocent little girl and still have a robot voice?... That's it! There can only be one explanation for this! Either this girl is actually a robot designed in a future where the 50's culture continued well into the 2000's... or this is the work of- wait for it..."

He stared at the others in an awkward silence before jumping:

"FAIRY GODPARENTS!"

And having a spasmic seizure on the air. Once he landed, he took out his butterfly net and ran away, laughing and chanting the word "fairies".

Jack merely looked on as Crocker, either not listening to or completely ignoring the explanation he just gave to Alex, completely put down the correct answer the teacher just said and went with the stupid answer, went into a seizure, and just ran off with his butterfly net.

"......................" The Chaser then turned to Sec. "If we have to bust that crazy shit out of jail, do not come to me for help," Jack said. He then walked away. "I'll be playing some carny games in the meantime and maybe grab myself cotton candy. Later." He waved goodbye as he traveled deeper into the crowds.

The spell had gone off without a hitch, then. Internally, Twilight breathed a sigh of relief and readied her next casting. If anything had gone wrong, there would be plenty of egg on her face, among other things. She'd need some privacy, though. While she was fairly comfortable with the spell as it was, some insurance would be nice and there was still something mildly embarrassing about it. The first casting tended to color her perception of the spell as a whole and appearing in the nude had not done her any favours. She'd fixed that problem, though. At least, she hoped she did.

As she turned to transform behind one of the bookcases, the unicorn stopped and raised a brow at Kribnefka. It was a decent plan, to be sure, but her position as the lovely assistant seemed rather suspect. But it wasn't as if she could come up with a better cover story, so it was probably best if she play along with it. It could be fun, and they'd certainly fit in with a festival like that. She only hoped she'd be able to play the role convincingly. She wasn't much of an actress, and her one experience with showponies hadn't left a very positive impression.

With no response to the god's proposal, the student of Celestia turned and strode behind a stand of shelves, giving a quick glance around to make sure nobody was looking. That done, she bowed her head and concentrated. A flash of light. A puff of smoke. Fur receded into pale skin, her eyes shrank and her horn spiralled back into her head. Limbs lengthened, hard hooves transitioning into long, thin fingers. As the smoke once again cleared, Twilight turned and walked out from behind the shelves, her gait uneven and swaying. Walking on two legs, while still something of a challenge for her, was something she was quickly getting used to. While she hadn't much time to make the necessary alterations, the ones she could make were significant. She was noticeably taller now, somewhere around chest-high to Atrocitus. She was thin, but not overly so, and her features, while still youthful, had a look of experience about them. A smile graced her thin lips as she stepped into the portal, giving a curt nod to the others as she did so.

Hopefully, this mission would be a break from the gauntlet that she'd been put through so far.

Kribnefka gave her some nicely stitched clothes. They were a bit more revealing than the ones Shantotto gave her.

Sam followed the rest of the group through the portal and into the crowd. He got a few glances from passersby thanks to his size and outfit, but he paid them little mind. He spoke to Jack. "Hey, Jack. What are we supposed to do here? I got no idea what this place even is."

Shantotto's face flickered briefly with disapproval, before she started walking towards the portal. "Best not linger for long. Our foes won't stop to sing a song." She stepped through.

Science

The team's portal landed them near the bell, near a set of steps that were cordoned off, next to a stall that was selling candy. As one, the locators beeped and began pointing towards a series of larger tents, a little small to be circus tents but still rather large, at the base of the hill.

Magic

This portal lead to an area somewhat more sparse in the way of permanent structure; the plaza extended all the way around the hill, but this was on the far side, with little access to the top level. The section was a long road of market stalls, all selling their wares, although anyone tempted by something would note that they lacked the local currency. Like the Science Team, their locators beeped and pointed towards a group of large tents at the base of the hill.

Nodding curtly at Kribnefka's reminder, Sheik touched her right hand to each ear in turn, rectifying each 'problem' in a muted flash of light.

The familiar shimmer in the air soon swam before her vision - then the portal opened. She walked through with closed eyes, as if she were still preparing herself for the mission that lay ahead.

When she opened them, she found herself... in the middle of a busy marketplace. An aisle of colorful stalls, to be precise, each one inhabited by a merchant or two, loudly declaring the virtues of his particular wares.

A pang of nostalgia hit her. Just like Castle Town...

No. There was no time for this. They had to move quickly.

Glancing down at the blinking locator in her hand, the Sheikah looked around, her eyes quickly alighting on a group of large tents that were all the way down the hill.

"Everyone. Over there. The tents, at the bottom of the hill."

"We must not attract overt attention to ourselves. Move discreetly - but make haste."

With that, the Sheikah stepped forwards and melted into the throng of people, brushing past each customer and passer-by with nary a rustle to indicate her presence.

It was not long before she reached the entrance.

Sec headed towards the tents, maintaining a different route than the rest of Team Science. He could hear Liberty Prime's shouts already.

Maybe I should change his voice.

Due to these diversions, he would not arrive at the tents for a few minutes.

Crocker continued to jump and chant the word "fairies" while he followed the beeping noise, thinking it came from his magic tracker. Once he reached the tents at the bottom of the hill, he crouched, squinting his eyes:

"Alright, Crocker, time for some super secret FAIRIES espionage time!"

He pulled out his magic tracker and his butterfly net, and began to slowly walk all around the tents, pointing the tracker at everyone that passed by him:

"With this device, I should be able to find FAIRIES! Unfurtonately, I still need some magic dust so the tracker can find other magical creatures... BAH! Who cares about magical creatures?! All I need are FAIRIES!"

The teacher continued to point his tracker at everyone that passed by him, but this time, he completely abandoned the "super secret espionage" idea, and was anxiously muttering "fairies" everytime he analysed a new person.

Ratheln nodded. Leaning on his staff, he made his way to the tents, looking like an old man out for his morning walk. Along the way, he looked for any of the opposing team's members. There were some unanswered questions, and while he respected Zelda, he certainly did not like some of his other teammates. Perhaps another point of view would help him to clarify things up.

After the abysmal failure to establish order once again, Urza had lost all interest in the goings-on of the science team and vanished once again. But when the portal opened, he was there and among the first to step through. He was still wearing his armor, but a simple glamer made it look like normal clothes appropriate to the mind of whoever gazed upon it. He found it useful sometimes. His staff had a similar glamer upon it as well. Not really paying attention to the rest of the group, he checked his locator, nodded in satisfaction that it was functioning, and began walking briskly in the direction that it pointed. If this challenge was anything like the other ones, it might be easier to simply let the other fools stir things up a bit before he got there and provide an opening.

Axl tried to ignore the inane behaviour of some of the group, threading and weaving his way through the fair. He monitored his locator inconspicuously. He noted with some relief that he didn't feel the usual energy drain when he used the Copy Chip, so that eliminated at least one source of stress.

Of course, he doubted that things would remain that simple for long... but he could deal with things as they came to him. That's why he was a valued member of the Maverick Hunters!
