I realised, yesterday evening, that I'm not sure I can say this about anything right now.

What do you care about, feel passionate about or put your faith in, and why?

Honestly Bobby, nothing in particular.

I suppose "Me and my own" qualifies. I care about people screwing with me and my stuff.

Most everything else I have an "Opinion" on, but don't necessarily have a deep emotional response to.

Eschewing the obvious religious responses...

  • My family. They are seriously awesome and dependable people, and I can only aspire to be as much of a support to them as they are to me.
  • The tiny mountain town part of my family comes from, and in which I spent my holidays for as far as I can remember. It has nothing particularly spectacular, really, and the mountains there are not even particularly impressive, but that's the only place that really feels like home to me. No, more, it feels like the only place that truly exists, if you get what I mean. Every other place feels, well, immaterial to me if compared to it.

Religious responses would be welcome and appreciated, actually.

I do request that we don't debate them here, though.

Though secular responses are equally welcome and great.

My belief that I can help people be happy and well adjusted emotionally is one of my primary driving forces. I also care a lot about improving in this area and others. I can never be satisfied with what I am. I must always be strive to be something better.

I care quite a lot about religion obviously as one can see. In particular my own. I want to use it to help myself and others. I want to spread information and truth about Buddhism and dispel misinformation about it. Like the idea that Buddhists hate reality and think that all suffering is bad and worthless solely because it is suffering. Or that all the world is suffering and that is all we focus on.

The other things I prize most are not things, but people. My friends and family of course. With Weissritter and Haven sitting at the highest point of this pyramid. They are my home and I love them.

Idealistic answer inc.

I care about trying to improve other peoples lives and I feel passionate about it because I believe that every human should at least try to make the planet a better place to live on. However, I dont really know why I care/believe about that.

But I would like to add that I care about getting myself to be in a good place to live with good people to live with.

I don't.

It's a worrying trend, I brought the worst of my feelings under control at the expense of giving a shit about much of anything.

I can still fake it, though.

  • Race relations and portrayals. Perhaps it stems from being biracial and growing up in predominantly white suburban and rural neighborhoods. I can't really escape that sense of otherness, so one way to cope was to study it.
  • Hip-hop. It's the first genre of music I fell in love with and that was after a period of feeling nothing but antipathy towards it. After I realized that some of the stuff my older brother kept blaring was pretty good, I found admiration with the wordplay and felt a sort of kinship with the artists who grew up as downtrodden nerds and misfits. It's also remarkably misunderstood music.
  • Intellectual property. I grew up with the internet, so I see authorship as an obsolete construct. The people who push for draconian copyright laws are almost exclusively middlemen who have nothing to do with the creative process, yet take in the majority of the profits.
