Support. I've mistaken this for non-dream examples before and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Support.
Now I'm off to remove the link on Absent-Minded Professor that I added in my confusion about the trope
My troper wallI thought this was human-like animal cartoon characters not wearing pants.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.More examples of misuse:
CM Punk CM Punk is a guest announcer on the September 21 2010 edition of NXT. This in and of itself is gloriously hilarious, but specifically when one of the Divas is talking about the old "view people in their underwear" public speaking trick as part of a promo challenge, and Punk responds with this: —>You know, it's funny, I'm actually Not Wearing Pants, and that's how I watch NXT every week.
- Not Wearing Pants: No Pants! Subway Ride Now done annually.
Possible Misuse
The Almighty Johnsons Not Wearing Pants: Happens every so often on this show. In fact, how Axl got his powers as Odin involved not wearing any clothes. It's even lampshaded at one point.

Assuming we rename this, might it be possible to rename this in a way that makes it impossible to still sinkhole the old name? I know we normally leave old names around as redirects.
You know, another option might be to transplant the current trope to something like "Not Wearing Pants" Dream and just make Not Wearing Pants a supertrope about characters not wearing pants in situations that normally call for pants. It is tropable and it would both fix the misuse and keep the examples that are a valid trope, just not this trope.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI've thought about a Does Not Like Pants article before, for characters who simply prefers not to wear pants whenever possible.
I think that Not Wearing Pants would probably be a better supertrope to start with. It can cover things from Absent-Minded Professor, to Wardrobe Malfunction, to just not wanting to wear the damn things. Once it gets examples, subtropes can be split off.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAlso worth nothing that a lot of Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal characters don't wear pants.
I think we should mention them on the supertrope page, and then direct people to post those examples on Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickNot Wearing Pants supertrope might be good although its kinda covered by I See London.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Not Wearing Pants does not require a character to wear underwear nor for their underwear to be revealed to the viewer.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickGiven that redirects are free launch, I took the liberty of adding a "Not Wearing Pants" Dream redirect and changing the wicks that are clearly dream related to the new redirect. The rest of the wicks are unclear in their meaning or clearly misuse that would better fit the hypothetical Not Wearing Pants (for real) supertrope.
I See London would be a Sub-Trope of Not Wearing Pants, as would "Not Wearing Pants" Dream. Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal would be a related trope.

Is there any objection at all to me switching the primary trope name to the "Not Wearing Pants" Dream redirect? Any at all? If anyone thinks this needs a crowner, please make one. If we don't need a crowner, I can do this myself in a day or two
No objection here.
I'm cool with it.
Fight smart, not fair.Go for it.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickDone. This can be locked.
This trope is about "A stock dream where the subject finds themselves in a familiar social institution (usually school or the workplace) wearing only their underwear, or sometimes nothing at all."
Perfectly legit trope, and a clear description of what it is and is not, however the name doesn't make it clear that it is talking about dreams.
There is a little bit of misuse:
