Yeah... I'm fine with obscure characters when there's a balance between those and well-known characters than that just being there for the sake of being obscure.
Also, Urien? Not feeling that one here. Then again my personal limit of Street Fighters in Vs. Games tends to be 4 or less.

Talk about obscure. I can understand catering to lesser franchises like Power Stone, but you pick Gourmand over Edward and Rouge? Really? And do we really need all of those Street Fighter characters? The key word here is "balance".
Also, there's no way you'd ever get away with not having Wolverine in the game. Nice try.

I guess it's more of a problem with you gushing over Asura's Wrath on most of the threads I've seen you post in. Personally I'm not too bothered by it, but I can see why others are.

Oh, that was why it had that title...Nemesis, Phoenix Wright, Megaman, Ryu, Chun li, Dante, Spider-man, Magneto Captain America, Deadpool, Blade and Iceman are well known enough for promotional purposes,
Nightcrawler, Omega Sentinel, Elvis, and Nina are there for promoting new characters, Spider-slayer and Gigi promote "the unexpected", the rest and unrevealed and internets buzz as nerds rush to remind the world what Red Earth is. Make sure it plays well and release to high sales from hype and being a Marvel vs games brings?
Obscure characters tended to get requested, especially Breath Of Fire. Maybe a different group of tropers is online now but it's not like Nightcrawler has less to bring to a fighting game than Wolverine. The game should be at the point it can sell on its own now and they have a reputation for bringing light to lesser knowns anyway. Strider, Jin, Shuma-Gorath.

Yeah, but it's one thing when there are a couple obscure characters per side, and another to make up the majority of the roster out of them. I mean, a popular character inside Capcom's/Marvel's fanbase from Breath of Fire or God Hand is one thing, but an obscure character from an obscure game just seems silly. It's like adding Waka from Okami before adding Amaterasu.

Uh why? Dream Mix TV World Fighters had a more obscure roster than anything I could come up with by reading Troper requests. For that, outside of Mario, Pokemon, Zelda and Metroid most of Super Smash Bros roster wasn't that well known. Metroid only returned to larger public opinion after Smash Bros. To top it off too many X-men and Street Fighter is mixed with too much obscure. Isn't that kind of contradictory? As X-men and Street Fighter are the biggest cash cows. Don't they balance the obscure requests?
Good points though, maybe I shouldn't have chosen Gormand when I saw requests for Power Stone when I think it over. I thought turning into a T-rex would appeal to people but I guess he doesn't have much else going for him. I was just trying to add more Capcom villains too because that was another request, more villains on the Capcom side, guess I should stick with bosses.

Super Smash Bros's fighters may have been somewhat obscure (well, at least Ness and Captain Falcon), but at least they used the main characters instead of sticking in random characters.

Well each one of them is a main character, a reoccurring boss or antagonist or someone from an already established series. The White Rabbit and Spider-slayer are out there but Spider-man is there already and they could have interesting combos...I'll remove Gourmand.

@ Tatsumar: A little bit.
Part of it is definitely Executive Meddling, seeing as Marvel just shoved their six characters down Capcom's throat. Notice how two of the characters (Ghost Rider and Hawkeye) will be featured in upcoming films, whereas Doctor Strange is rumored to have his own movie in the works (note: I have nothing against Ghosty; I was glad to see him get in). Props on Iron Fist, Nova, and Rocket Raccoon, though.
Hopefully, we'll get some DLC (and as actual DLC, not an Updated Re-release that could've still been released as DLC). I could go into another rant about the lack of Ms. Marvel, Spider-Woman, Galacta, Gambit, etc., but overall, I'm content.

In the last thread I read your wishes. No roster could please everyone but fifty seemed to be the most common minimum demand so names were continually added until it reached that.
