We never had a thread for this before? Huh.
As a big fan of the series, I'm surprised that there's been no word of a new game. It would be glorious to see the series make the leap to this gen.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadA new F Zero won't happen for a long time, and here's why.
All self-respecting racers in this day and age must have online multiplayer. F Zero, with it's high speed and over 30 racers on the track (as of GX) is exactly the kind of thing you do not want to have lag whilst playing. Nintendo sucks at online multiplayer, and wouldn't release a F-Zero with crap online multiplayer. Ergo, it will take them until they come up with a decent online system to make a new F-Zero, which they won't due to their refusal to just rip off Xbox-Live.
A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail.Couldn't they simply just have x numbers of players online with no other A.I. racers?
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadI'd love a new game in the series. I used to play GX all the time. But right now, I care very little about it. Needs some fresh blood fast.
It's kinda hard to have to fresh blood when the last game came out seven years ago and the only things keeping the series alive are the sporadic appearances made by Captain Falcon.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadWell, seeing as franchises like Kid Icarus get dug out of the shallow grave several generations later, I wouldn't be surprised if Captain Falcon and crew pop in randomly sometime in the future.
Anyway, wasn't the last game produced either on the GBA or GCN?

The emotions of others can seem like such well guarded mysteries, people 8egin to 8elieve that's how their own emotions should 8e treated.Yup, it was for the GBA. GP Legend, and it came out in like 2004.

Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!Yeah. It was called F-Zero Climax. Japan only, sadly.
That was actually the second-to-last F-Zero title, after GX but before Climax.

"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadYup, I was just going by the American releases.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!Pico needs more love and Deathborn too.
Thing is, they may not have made a new F-Zero just because they couldn't think of a new place to go after GX, other than work off the licensed games. Granted, you may have had your fill now but a game like GX kept your attention for more than a little while didn't it?
edit: I could see them going to a new Grand Prix or something for the story but not don't see what to do with the game play.

Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackGX is a lot of fun. I love listening to speed metal bands like Racer X when I play it.
I remember Miyamoto talking about how they couldn't go any further with the story. Granted, seeing as the last game had Falcon beating his universe's equivalent of God, this makes sense. However, they could simply continue to flesh out the cast, add some new faces, show some more glimpses of life outside of the track (this is why many fans liked Chapter 3 of GX's Story Mode), (maybe) give a slight overhaul to the game mechanics, have eight-to-twelve player online support a la Mario Kart Wii, and make the Scenery Porn even more impressive. That game would be a joy to behold.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadGood point. I'm also a huge fan of the series too. I think there could be a new F-zero for Wii U. Imagine a new F-zero with HD graphics, online play, more hard racetracks, new machines, a track editor, etc. I'd love to get that game.
The Best in the WorldIf Sega has a hand in the next F-Zero like with GX, I think they should use the Hedgehog Engine from Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations since F-Zero's fast movement can really take advantage of it.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. This is necromancy of a sort, but this is the least dead F-Zero topic on the site.
Apparently, the reason both F-Zero and Star Fox have had major stalls is that Miyamoto strongly disliked F-Zero Climax and Star Fox Command, both of which were handled entirely by outside developers (as opposed to GX and Assault, both of which had EAD involved). As a result, ol' Shiggs wants to wait until EAD can handle them again (Skyward Sword and the assorted Mario platformers have been getting in the way until recently).
I sure said that!Wasn't Assault mostly done by Namco, though?
Mostly, yes, but there was some input from Miyamoto and his group. Command didn't have any.
I sure said that! And Command... was pretty mediocre. RTS and Star Fox do not mix. At all. Oh well, at least the music was a joy to listen to.
Climax wasn't bad from what I've heard, though. Basically, the series are in the same rut Capcom's in when it comes to all of their fighting game coming out within months of each other. Hopefully, we'll see a new F-Zero in the future. If that ever happens, I will immediately buy a Wii U, no questions asked. Not for Mario, not for Link, not for Samus, but for BRUE FALKRON!
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadYes.
Though honestly, I'd be okay with Retro Studios or HAL or NLG working on one of them, as long as Miyamoto is producing.
Like with Punch-Out!! Wii. That one was awesome.
I sure said that!I though Climax was pretty awesome by the rom I played, better than GP Legend indeed.
No regret shall pass over the threshold!Retro Studios could work, seeing as they're currently working on Mario Kart 7. Alternatively, one Troper on the WMG page said that they should bring back Sega to help work on the game (as unlikely as it'd be) and implementing the Hedgehog Engine from the more recent Sonic titles. That would be a blast to play through.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadAnd maybe we'll get to see Douglas Falcon actually Do some Bounty Hunting. Hmm, with his Bounty Hunting skills, he could be a match for Samus if we actually see it.
Oh, and of course:
Watch SymphogearI'd like to believe that F-Zero, Metroid, and Star Fox are separate universe and should remain that way (did I just misinterpret what you said?). But yeah, maybe we can see glimpses of it, perhaps as a mission or two (after all, he was tracking a bounty in GX before Goroh intercepted him). As for the Falcon Punch, F-Zero has always been about racing, whereas the real Falcon (not the Smash Bros. one) has always been serious and more to-the-point, so I don't think his memetic value should overshadow his actual character or the focus of the game. The anime set a good precedent for how Falcon can be portrayed, and GX hints that he can use the move in his actual series (in the credits song after beating Story Mode), so maybe Falcon should just save it for whoever the main villain of the next game will be.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadThere seems to be some overlap between F-Zero and Star Fox, actually.
Or at least, constant, repeated, almost-crossover-but-not-quite.
Honestly, I'd be okay with a Metroid game that mentions G-Diffusers in passing, or F-Zero bringing up a Space Pirate attack in a bio.
And yeah, the Falcon Punch should be saved for an important cutscene or some such.
