Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

There are actually quite a few villains still alive...Abnomination, General Ross, Justin Hammer, Loki, Red Skull, the Mandarin, Nebula, Baron von Stucker, Batrock, Crossbones plus a few which could be reconned into having survived after all, like Raz (who might have escaped after all) or Zola (they could always claim that he umploaded himself to another computer). I don't think that they will use one of the Ao S villains, though. In general, I think that there are few villains which are irreplacable, and the ones who are are not necessarily the same as in the comics. Some of them become more (Loki) some of them less interesting.

A science experiment gone wrong or an Inhuman.
I'm in favor of having the Black Knight Nathan Garrett show up in a Masters of Evil film, with his good-guy nephew Dane having a presence in the film as well. Then when the Masters are defeated that leaves Dane the option of taking up the gear and becoming the heroic Black Knight.
File that under "fun but unlikely", I guess.
Hey, Rocket Raccoon was unlikely only a few years ago. Don't stop believin'.
Batroc would probably leap at the opportunity to show up again.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!*4: I mean that unlike any of the armored villains, who use tech we've already seen extensively and understand as part of the universe, you would have to dedicate some of the plot to how his powers work due to it being untrodden ground for the MCU thus far.
*5: How many of those would be willing or able to join a Masters of Evil type team, however?

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain."Who invited the French guy?"
I already made that joke (and no one caught it then, either).
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI noticed you said "jump" a few pages ago, but Batroc doesn't jump, he leaps.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I'd still like to see a Batman Cold Open in Ragnarok with Thor battling the Absorbing Man. It'd be a neat nod to Creel's origin in the comics as a Thor villain.
Weird in a Can (updated M-F)The Absorbing Man just isn't the Absorbing Man until he gets a scene where he absorbs Mjolnir.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. So if that happens, does he become immobile because he is unworthy to lift himself?
From what I gather, no, because he'd absorb the material of Mjolnir. Mjolnir can't be wielded by the unworthy because of the spell placed upon it, not because of the steel it is made.
Though Earth's Mightiest Heroes had a (very memorable) scene where Absorbing Man absorbs the material of Mjolnir and Thor exploits him by wielding the Asborbing Man via the Mjolnir.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Right. Absorbing the hammer just makes him Uru, the magical equivalent of adamantium.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I don't think Absorbing Man is the brightest bulb in the box.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon. Also from EMH.
- ABSORBING MAN: *becomes rock* Idiot monster! I can absorb anything! Even rock!
- HULK: *breaks off half the Absorbing Man's torso* Hulk smash rock, Einstein.
Though I did like when he absorbed the Cosmic Cube and began retcon punching everything.
Absorbing Man could be nice in a movie because they'd have the budget to do his Sizeshifter trick.
They mention in Avengers Academy that Creel would be a lot more dangerous if he were smart enough to use his powers effectively.
Cue Fear Itself.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
He was technically both in the beginning and end. Also, there was Batroc in Captain America 2.
