I am very certain that the trope for cute fuzzy bunnies is broader than just bunnies. Cute fuzzy kittens and cute fuzzy puppies get the exact same treatment. So it should include other types of cute fuzzy animals.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Given that rabbits, kittens and puppies have had fairly successful pages focusing on just their species, I think that Stock Cute Animals would be a good supertrope but that those three animals would numerous enough to qualify for having their own subtropes.
I'm going through the Everything's Better With Bunnies (now a redirect, and had pretty fair number of inbounds so I'd rather not delete) wicks and replacing as many as a I can with one of the new tropes, but there does seem to be a gap for bunnies as cuteness, and I don't want to delete these wicks until we can get that decided on.
Also, from a purely marketing perspective, these are popular animals, so having them have their own page with appropriately cute pictures are going to make them more likely to be linked by bunny enthusiasts. Everything's Better With Bunnies had over 7,000 inbounds between 2009 and now.

We could merge them; I think that's more useful than "list of all rabbits in fiction, ever" anyway.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Apparently, Ridiculous Cute Critter is about literally impossibly creatures. The kind I'd consider nightmare fuel, though no one on the page seems to.
I approve of a Stock Cute Animal trope, ideally not just as a supertrope but as the trope for all cute animal appearances. That way, it will be easier to identify and assign other cute animal tropes. (e.g. Yet Another Baby Panda is a distinct trope from Stock Cute Animal that can take any animal, not just pandas.
But we can refine the cute animal trope a little. It shouldn't just be "a cute animal exists"; that's not a trope. And pandering to the audience with cuteness is unconnected with a character finding an animal cute.
Ridiculously Cute Critter is kinda like when you make up a new animal to be a Cute Little Fuzzy Critter.
Rhymes with "Protracted."The page image and the examples show real world animals.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAre we done here?
I did 117 wicks. Everything's Better With Bunnies is down to 194 wicks now, I'll finish the rest later.

"Learning without thinking is labor lost. Thinking without learning is dangerous."Nuking them or what?
Fight smart, not fair. Not exactly. Since Bunny Tropes is now an index, any wick that is just a rabbit happened to appear in a work I remove it. If the example is about one of the tropes in the index like Hair-Raising Hare I move it there. I should have said that earlier.

"Learning without thinking is labor lost. Thinking without learning is dangerous."It seems to me that we are now lacking a trope for "bunnies used for cuteness" or "bunnies used as good guys", now that the Everything's Better With Bunnies is gone.
Two pages back and this page, people have been talking about making a Adorable Bunny trope but others thought to have something like "Stock Cute Animal" would be better to make it broader. No one IIRC took it to YKTTW and we don't have a heroic rabbit trope yet either.

"Learning without thinking is labor lost. Thinking without learning is dangerous."I'm willing to take Rabbits Are Goodguys and Bunnies for Cuteness to YKTTW if there is any support for the idea. I'd rather have tropes that cover the full range of rabbit usage in media and migrat the wicks to new tropes rather than kill the wicks.
There are 180 wicks left to do here.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Does anyone support the idea of creating tropes along the lines that I describe in my last post?
Yes. A list of possible tropes would be nice, though.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBasically what I'm thinking of is having, at minumum, a trope for Rabbits Are Good, which would be about how rabbits are normally cast as good guys. It would be a subtrope to Species-Coded for Your Convenience, and Animal Stereotypes.
We could also possibly do a trope about the inclussion of bunnies for cuteness purpose.

Are we implementing this?
And there are now 186 wicks left. Growing, not shrinking.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.If there are no objections and no one else gets to it first, I can start the YKTTW drafts when I finish migrating wicks for The Ishmael.
183 wicks and no YKTT Ws.

Crown Description:
We need a new name for the Rabbit and Hare Tropes Index that will replace Everythings Better With Bunnies.
I think it's a good trope for YKTTW. Though perhaps Stock Cute Animal might be a better trope. The idea of using small fluffy animals for cuteness rather than just rabbits.
