Polyamory is a much more general topic and if it's being shoehorned to match Tenchi Solution, there's a problem.
Polyamory = More than two adults are involved in a consensual sexual relationship.
Tenchi Solution = A Love Triangle or Love Dodecahedron is resolved by creating a Polyamory.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Fixed the article link for you. You don't need the {{'s when linking it in the title.
Oh, and what Fighteer pretty much said.

Also, Polyamory doesn't need a harem. If four people are in a stable relationship all with each other, then it's not a harem. It's just Polyamory.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWhy is Tenchi Solution just one trope, anyway? Shouldn't it be split at least into protagonist choosing them all and protagonist either never making a decision or rejecting the harem outright? The way I see it used is almost always for the former.

Also, a harem show doesn't technically become a polyamory until/unless the focus of the harem actually starts having sex with them. If he's a Chaste Hero with an Unwanted Harem, the focus is typically on the UST rather than the consummation, which if it occurs at all usually ends the series.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"So Tenchi Solution is an Ending Trope, while Polyamory is an in-series trope?
If so, Polyamory needs some massive example paring.
Polyamory is a Super-Trope encompassing a variety of concepts. Examples more properly belonging on other tropes like OT3 and Tenchi Solution should be moved there.
I haven't even begun to look at them so I can't help at the moment.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Also, the title Tenchi Solution pretty much relegates it to the anime ghetto. I pulled out the examples that were just about polyamory.

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI agree completely. Tenchi Solution is an Ending Trope. If the series continues beyond the resolution provided by the Tenchi Solution, then it slids into Polyamory (or just OT3 if only three people are involved)
I would consider renaming Tenchi Solution to Marry Them All or some such, but that would be a different thread.
SWEET ZOMBIE JESUS. I did not know that Marry Them All was a redirect before I typed that, I swear.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Tenchi Solution needs to be change if, for no other reason, Tenchi doesn't take that solution.
One of his relatives does though, interestingly.
Marry Them All sounds good though!
Yeah, Tenchi Solution had a huge involved rename/redirect discussion sometime last year.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Fighteer: The problem is that Tenchi Solution encompasses another trope where no choice is made at all or the choice is rejected and the situation is walked away from. Thus, Marry Them All might be how we use it, but technically it's broader than that. Which is why I recommended we split it.
Oh, and technically Tenchi does marry them all eventually, it just doesn't happen in the series proper.

Yeah, no. If the Tenchi series ("proper") are not an example, then this needs a rename, or a swap with its redirect. Marry Them All sounds good to me.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Well, the trope should probably be split and give both tropes their own names at that time. But isn't that a matter for a separate thread?
Yes.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Okay, thread up. If anyone has anything more to say about polyamory feel free to continue with that now that the derail has been moved.
A Kim Possible Fan Fic that should be listed http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3154326/1/
With the power of a dragon I can make up for my inability to spill.
Reading the trope description of Polyamory and examples, this trope seems to be a duplicate of Tenchi Solution.
Speaking of which, Tenchi Solution actually covers three variants: 1) No choice is made, but the harem continues. 2) A choice is made, he picks them all, 3) the hero leaves the harem. The third choice has very few or no examples at all and could use some example pimping.
