3 of 5 games. The other two were Supreme Commander 2 and Dungeon Siege 3.

Hitman Absolution HAS to be one of them... could one of them be the first reveal of ... Thief 4? Pretty please?

Oh please, let it be Thief 4.

There's North American development left? Must be whatever they sucked up with Eidos. They shut down their own studio after taking so many losses last year.

"Oh please, let it be Thief 4. "

I think you'll be disappointed it's been announced and it's got all the hip dumbed down stuff like Xtreme Kool Letterz.

Anyways.

[up] Concerning the first three bullets, you should read this post again and think about it. Maybe you will notice something then.

And? You'll note the "set the in NA" on the 2nd, and I'm not sure what stops a NA dev from working on part of a SEVC.

The 3rd is just a joke.

You know what I would like? If a bunch of devs got together and made a Vs series, instead of just Capcom. Just because there's only so much you can do with Capcom characters, but what about Square Enix Vs Namco? Or Nintendo Vs Sega? Or something else? I dunno. It's incredibly unlikely, but it's a dream of mine.

It would probaby end up like Super Robot Wars where the rights issues are too confusing to figure out.

Square-Enix North American development includes guys like Obsidian Entertainment (Dungeon Siege 3).

And I know Thief 4 has been announced. So has Hitman Absolution.

Question: Have you seen any gameplay video of Thief 4 yet?

And I'm well aware that they've written Thief 4 "Thi4f". Did you see the article logo? However, they've also stated that "Thi4f" is not the name of the game. It's "Thief 4", just like "T2" is not the name of Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

...correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Square Enix-NA the ones responsible for garbage like Nier's 2nd protagonist, Mind Jack and that second Kane And Lynch game? I remember seeing the company's name on the covers.

Not sure if those were Square Enix North America as a whole or just the NA division. But damn those games were uncharacteristic of SE.

Well, we need more of SE, not only Final Fantasy, for what, just for accussing them for milking franchise? no thanks

Another game could be good, rather than just Final Fantasy

Also, is Thief 4, no THI 4 F

They make other good games that aren't FF as well...like Saga Frontier and Dragon Quest.

[up][up][up] I've read the American Kirby Is Hardcore was the original dev's choices, likeing the pretty design better, but finding the American one to work better with the combat system.

[up][up][up][up] Which Neir protagonist are you saying is bad? Because I've always felt that the EU/US dodged a bullet by not getting the generic effeminate one.

Apparently the younger one came first...then the people in SE Los Angeles demanded that they changed him into an old man because a teenage holding a large sword is unrealistic. Some sources also say that the situation became a bit heated between the two sides as well.

The reason Replicant even exists at all is because the developers liked the original so much...also, Replicant sold a lot better.

tl;dr - young -> old -> young for No Export for You version and old for 360 japan and Bad Export for You version.

tbh, they're both pretty meh...my only beef with the old man is that they were changed, and the REASON he was changed to an old man. It leads me to think that people in LA has never heard of an RPG before.

PS - how reliable is Siliconera as a source of info?

But back on-topic. Square Enix NA...were these the guys responsible for garbage like Mind Jack and Kane And Lynch 2?

My memory of SE games that aren't RP Gs have all been pretty sour. Exceptions being Einhander which was pretty neat by side scrolling shooter standards. The company's forte is obviously RP Gs.

No idea, but I do see their name on the cover of the sequel.

So they're somehow involved.

As publisher, dude...IO was Eidos' subsidiary...then Eidos got bought by SE...

You're blaming publisher for making bad games and not the developers?

Who needs facts when you    RAEG    about things?

In all seriousness, the confusion of the two by people never stops annoying me. Remember when SE localized Modern Warfare for Japan and everyone thought they would, for some reason, change the game to make it into a Final Fantasy.

...how well does something like Modern Warfare even do in japan? I mean, FPS is really unpopular there. Sounds like a loss in money to me...

Sometimes I think japanese companies can make some pretty ruinous decisions in their careers...but then I remembered EA tried to compete with Valve by starting Origin.

Meh. I've completely lost interest in Square-Enix these days.

Until they decide to make sequels to a bunch of the obscure SNES games they made, I'm through.

106,000 copies sold on the first day and a spike in Xbox360 sales after launch.

Pretty unpopular, amirite?
