The edge of Cho'Gath's summoned spikes clipped one of Lux's heels, and she went tumbling into the grass rather painfully. The roar had silenced her, whoever unlike before this time she had attacks that mattered, instead of just hurling ineffective pretty lights. She activated her lightsaber and continued down the side path, to the other tuft of grass at the far entrance.

Cho'Gath was occupying the middle of the lane, now between her and the rest of the team. When Teridax continued his charge even though badly hurt the smaller abomination started a steady retreat, and Teridax kept coming. Silence finally wearing off, Lux cast a shield around him and emerged from the grass behind Kog'Maw, boxing him in

Teridax's hammer connected, and Kog'Maw actually left the ground and became airborne for a respectable distance, hitting the cavern floor near the wall of the lane. Because of this Lux missed her stroke, and while not threatening Teridax with her glowing blade her momentum was cast in the wrong direction; she wouldn't be able to re-engage immediately. Kog'Maw however immediately turned his head skyward and launched a small, dense ball of spit. A moment later it descended with far more force than would be believed just in front of Teridax, in one move completely shattering Lux's shield and injuring Teridax far more than even Cho'Gath's mast vicious assault.

Scorpion's savaging of the minions drew the other five's attention, and as the lane held or fell back he was left alone out in the opening, and these minions had no other targets to consider. Hammers and glowing balls of energy sped his way.

Malz slowly moved forward, a good deal behind the minions, as Swain retreated. His glanced flicked to the grass the other Champions were hiding in, as well as the grass opposite, but the enchanted shrubbery worked its magic and hid them flawlessly. He stopped in the dead center of the lane.

The right lane went quiet, when Kassadin arrived and the others didn't pursue. Off in the fog a dull purple glow could be seen, and here or there another black bird came into view before vanishing.

Kassadin came to a stop near them and looked back at the pair "A wise choice, not following them. Let us hold back at our turret until they return."

Recette glanced back at the others, a bit confused by the whole thing. "Um... all the dungeons look like this. And the always have treasure in them."

As if to punctuate what she'd said, there was a splatting sound from the darkness.

"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."

Scorpion moved into the path of the minions' attacks. They turned him around so he was facing the inside of Cho'Gath's mouth. He screamed in pain as his upper half was chewed to bits, a scream that somehow continued to ring out as the monster chewed him up. Eventually, his legs fell to the ground just in front of Cho'Gath. Scorpion had become the first fatality on the Institute's side.

Fifteen seconds later, Scorpion felt his essence come back together. Body and soul were once more whole. He was back in the Netherrealm.

Or was he? It looked like the Netherrealm, it sounded like the Netherrealm, it felt like the Netherrealm, but something told the ninja that whoever had planted him in that field earlier that day would not let him walk away so easily.

He looked down to find that Cho'Gath, unlike the Living Forest, did not turn the people it ate into more of itself. This was a relief. He reached behind him to where his swords were sheathed. Sure enough, he had both his swords, his spear, and the axe still with him. He tried summoning fire up from the rock he stood on. It worked. He tried doing a fiery uppercut. That, too, worked. Every second, he felt stronger.

Suddenly, Scorpion saw a white light glowing from his chest. Then, he saw himself turn transparent for a moment. Then, he was normal again. The transparency started and stopped, getting longer every time it came. Eventually, the white light overtook him. It seemed he was being forcibly dragged into another realm by sorcery. He let himself be taken, for he knew it couldn't be stopped.

Scorpion found himself back at the Central Nexus. His work was clearly not done. He headed down the left path and rejoined the group.

"Luxanna," said Scorpion, "how does one normally defeat this creature?"

Teridax leapt away, hit the ground, rolled and jumped to his feet.

unfortunately for his, rolling only made the spikes of Cho'gath stick deeper into his armour but at least he had gotten clear of the spit bomb thing that the creature had launched.

Teridax snapped off a few more spikes and suddenly sat down.

He closed his eyes and sat there.

Now if anyone where to notice, the green haze about teridax shifted and suddenly was gone.

Teridax opened his eyes and stood up, he was ready. Though his armour was still in bad shape, it was all he needed.

The Hylian turned in the direction of the sound, and pointed his lantern in its direction, peering through the dim light to see what it was.

Well. That can't be too friendly, can it?

Out of the darkness, came a red blob of goo, hurling itself towards Link with the appropriate sounds accompanying it.

The food shelves were stocked with nutbreads, taiyaki, and various other items. It was apparent by this food, more then anything else, that the enviroment they were in seemed like a fusion of French and Japanese.

Alouette couldn't seem to make up her mind on the food, at least not yet.

The blob splattered against Link's sword. There was nothing that fired it... but there was blobs oozing across the ground in front of him.

Slimes? They look just like Red Chus.

"No worries, Miss. I've got this."

He backflipped from his position, and ran in, dissecting the next one with another vertical slash even as he moved. The rest suffered similar fates, as they jumped at the swordsman only to be splattered by his flashing blade, which moved with impressive speed.

Heh. They seem just about as easy to kill, too.

"Wow... that was really cool!" Recette cried. "Did you find any shiny thingies that they dropped or anything? Sometimes they have stuff!"

Link sheathed his sword, not even sweating, and looked down at the liquid remains of the gelatinous creatures that were strewn all around him.

"Um... shiny things, Miss?"

"I'll have a look..."

He lit his lantern again, and began searching for any items they might have dropped.

''Strange... they didn't seem to have any things inside them before...''

Magma Chamber, central lane...

Swain continued his retreat for a few more seconds, continuing to pelt the Voidlings under Malzahar's control with his crackling balls of eldritch flame all the while; as he did so, the raven perched on his shoulder spar continued to observe Malzahar, fixing the Prophet of the Void with the intense and unblinking scrutiny of its six red eyes. Upon seeing where the mad Seer of Shurima had come to a halt, the peculiar corvid turned its head to glance briefly at its master and inclined its beak in imitation of a nod; and though the Master Tactician of Noxus was not looking towards his avian familiar, engrossed as he was with reducing his opponents' arachnoid thralls into smouldering lumps of half-melted chitin one Voidling at a time, Swain seemed to detect the gesture nonetheless.

"Now," the sorcerous general rasped, turning briefly to point at Malzahar with the index finger of his free hand. Before the word had finished leaving his mouth, Swain's raven spread its wings and took to the air, flapping towards the Warp-touched desert nomad at a respectable speed; a second later the carrion bird came to a halt in mid-air some fifteen feet from Malzahar's position. Swain paused in his mystical barrage, shifting his focus to the familiar as it hovered there, and the general's eyes narrowed a fraction in concentration as he began to pour sorcerous power into the bird. The creature seemed to freeze in place as its master's pour flowed into its tiny frame, its wings fully extended and trembling violently as though it were caught in the grip of some horrid seizure, and as it shuddered, the raven's crimson eyes turned a vivid shade of white flecked with hints of purple.

The channelling took no more than a second to complete, and when his familiar had reached capacity and could hold no more of the eldritch forces he had conjured up, Swain gave a single silent command for his familiar to cut loose. The unnatural corvid opened its beak wide to let out a piercing shriek, and as it did so, crackling bolts of violet-tinged electricity erupted from its eyes and mouth; these seven small strands swiftly combined and twined together into a single, sustained bolt of sorcerous lightning, leaping across the distance between its point of origin and its intended target within the blink of an eye to strike Malzahar right in the chest. Arcane energies crackled and gamboled across the hovering madman's form, weakening Malzahar's levitative powers even as they seared and withered his flesh; as long as Swain was able to sustain this spell and his raven could keep Malzahar tethered, the Prophet of the Void would find his mobility greatly restricted until this decrepifying sorcery elapsed.

Hopefully, the general's bizarre comrades-in-arms would recognize this attack on his part for the signal that it was and spring the trap...

Magma Chamber, left-hand path...

Right as Cho'Gath finished devouring Scorpion's upper torso, Rey's sword struck it in the right eye and plunged all the way in to the hilt. The chitinous horror threw back its head and loosed an ear-splitting screech of agony, the glow of its ruined eye flickering like a flashlight whose batteries were in dire need of replacement, and caustic green ichor dripped from the horrendous wound to leave smoking, bubbling welts on the stone floor; clearly this blow had done a serious number on the abomination, for it seemed to sway in place ever so slightly as though it were having difficulty focusing on the battle at hand. Yet it was equally clear, alas, that despite the severity of its injuries Cho'Gath was not down just yet; the Terror of the Void had begun to swell and grow as it devoured the hellspawn, its limbs ripening and its carapace hardening with every hungry, frenzied bite it took out of the Shirai Ryu ninja, and the insectoid monstrosity now stood ten feet at the shoulder as opposed to eight, far more robust than it had been a few moments earlier.

"yOU aRE a sCOurGE uPON tHE woRLd!" it snarled in that awful stereo voice, numerous barbs and quills extruding from its pectoral exoskeleton once more. The abomination began to lumber towards Rey, gibbets of meat and ichor dripping from its bloodstained jaws as it approached.

There were a few miscellaneous items, likely picked up just by the slimes sliding about. old helmets, daggers, they probably wouldn't be worth much but they were something.

"... Hmmm... That taiyaki looks good!" Alouette announced, pointing to several taiyaki that were up on the higher shelves.

Presumably, Recette used a stepping stool to get to them.
