There are also suspicions that there are a couple more updates of a similar nature to come in the near future.

@thespacephantom: micspamming (if that term includes any playing music over voice chat) is only bad if you do it for the express purpose of annoying people or keep doing it after people ask you to stop.

Hey, Plumb, can you turn on alltalk? It seems like everyone I've asked who actually has voicechat wants it on.

Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.

Idunno, I kind of like teamtalk. It allows you to actually have some significant planning. Calling a rush, asking for assistance in certain locations, etc. Strategies that simply don't WORK with alltalk.

I think alltalk makes the game much more fun, and adds the dillemma between using text, which is secure but slow, or voice, which is fast but also lets your enemy know what you are saying.

which is secure but slow

What? Text is always visible to both teams.

Yeah, hitting u only talks to your team, y talks to everyone. Makes me wonder why they didn't just have two voice buttons, one for team and the other for everyone, with servers just simply being able to make one not work if they wanted to.

[up][up]I'd never heard of that.

@Edwards Grizzly: Even without alltalk, text still has the benefit of being easier to understand than voice. Communicating by text strategy more complicated than "a or b?" that doesn't already a voice command isn't just harder, most of the time it's goddamn impossible. It doesn't just take longer, it makes you a complete sitting duck in the meantime which is incredibly stress-inducing, something I really don't think we should be imposing on people who are actually trying to get people to working as a team.

Also, alltalk is just on too freaking much to have any sort of novelty. It seriously seems the majority of the servers I've been to have alltalk on.

[up]That actually sounds like something simple enough for a person to mod in, though it's not something I'm that experienced with.

Most of the time anything more complicated than A or B is utterly lost on 90% of the people on the server and all talk is used to troll or annoy everyone on the server or to question someone's sexuality, parentage, age, gender, and or skill. So, I don't really miss alltalk when its not on and text works fine for me. I also type over 100 words a minute so that might factor in as well.

Yeah, I use team typing all of the time, namely in capture the flag points to make sure we've got sufficient defenses and alert the team of any incoming Spies or other major problems.

Yeah, but yelling "SPY!" over all talk isn't exactly compromising. And people are more likely to NOTICE.

What I mean is, it's gonna get people on their guard. They'll start watching their backs, and maybe spychecking just a little more.

Dude, if you aren't watching your back for spies already then you just got stabbed to death and it doesn't matter who's screaming what. If someone has any sense then everyone they meet is a spy until proven otherwise.
