I thought that only came after the end of the series.
'cause the first episode has Agunimon beat up a Cerberumon and I know a later episode has EmperorGreymon and MagnaGarurumon struggle against 3 SkullSatamon.

I assumed the level system was dropped.
Luminous beings are we, not this crude matterApparently only Xros Wars dropped it (Frontier did it unofficially), since thet side materials still include levels, except for "digimon introduced in xros wars".
So in a way they are keeping with the "tradition" of making every series different.

I figured it was dropped too, though I noted a correlation in the parts I watched.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyFrontier only mentioned levels once, and then dropped them completely. Only the ancient warriors and Susanoomon had official levels, the rest was wankage from the card games. Aldamon should be equal to Ancientgreymon, Champion>Ultimate>Mega was perfectly logical but this wasn't reflected in the show itself.
Anyway, my ideal line would be Botamon to Koromon to DameBadmon to V-dramon(with Greymon's data) to Aerov-dramon to Ulforcev-dramon to Future Mode, putting Bun and Zeromaru in the same line.
Also, Gryphomon+[insert any Mega available in 2003]=Royal Knight 12, Zero's final opponent revealed!
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackDo you remember where they were mentioned?
If not, I guess I'll keep an... ear... out for it when I watch the series.

Was Digimon Frontier ever released on DVD?
Have any of them other than Savers and now Adventure been put on DVD while we're at it?

Luminous beings are we, not this crude matterIt appears not, which is a damn shame. I can't even get Season 4 through Perfectly Legal Means, so it looks like youtube is my only real option and my internet has low data caps.

Double post because JUSTICE.
Frontier mentions levels in Episode 3, Wizardmon is identified as a Champion level Digimon. So that's that.
And I missed a lot of the earlier episodes, but they introduced the Beast Spirits as early as episode six? That's way too early to be breaking out the Ultimate equivalent! Is the reason the Royal Knight Arc dragged on so much is because they burned through earlier material too fast?
No, truth is the Royal Knights Arc isn't this huge thing like everyone says it is,....it just happened to be maybe 10 episodes instead of 5.
The Legendary Warriors and Cherubimon combined take up 4/5 of the whole show.
Most episodes are unnecessarily stretched and padded out, some episodes are even outright filler of BLAM Episode kind
And besides Adventure introduced Ultimate-level Andromon as early as episode 5,...yet it wasn't for another eleven episodes Ultimates came into the fold [that's when Skull Greymon happened].Likewise it isn't for quite a few episodes till the Digi Destined start getting theirs
Not sure why you keep trying to bring back the level system,....if spirits are champions, then how was Seraphimon defeated so easily? If a mega?

Luminous beings are we, not this crude matterWasn't the problem not only the length but also that it wasn't a lot of content stretched across the episodes? As in, all that happened was the Digidestined losing fight after fight to the knights?
I haven't seen a lot of the series, so I'm just going off what I heard. I think I've seen 10 episodes total, maybe?
Fair point about Andromon, but he wasn't identified as an Ultimate at the time, nor did the kids know they could become Ultimates. Grumblemon, however, uses the same Spirit system the kids used and so now the Beast spirits are a thing... immediately after the kid's Human spirits had all been found. And I know Gigasmon loses to BurningGreymon from my first run on TV, so I had assumed that was only a short while away. It would have been nice for an extra episode or two to show all the kids with their Human spirits working together before introducing the Beast spirits. Or hell, have the evil Warriors show up an episode or two before the Beast spirits.
As for the levels, I was just trying to determine whether it was present or not because of Agunimon defeating a Cerberumon in his first fight. And I haven't seen the episode where Seraphimon was defeated, so I can't say.
C'mon now,the show is an expy of Adventure with a lot of the sentimental and darker elements removed
Therefore if Adventure didn't pile on the Ultimates right away,it is safe to say Frontier will not either.
Grumblemon getting defeated like that? That's pretty much like how Arukenimon and Mummymon kept getting defeated in 02,it takes a while for Grumblemon to actually be defeated and purified (since Frontier doesn't have the All Deaths Are Final trope imposed by Tamers or used as a Double Standard like the first two seasons).
I'd advise just to use the MST3K Mantra on that one.

Luminous beings are we, not this crude matterIt's an Expy of Adventure? I guess I can see some similarities from what I remember... but it's mainly just Agunimon and Lobomon's lines (and Susanoomon) that seem obvious.
Adventure wasn't boring. Frontier, and especially the Royal Knights part, definitely were.
(to me)
Also, if you're talking about Adventure, you should either say so or point out you're talking about 02.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyOkay here we go
1. Every character feels like an expy,JP has Izzy's line when digivolving but acts a lot like Joe. Tommy is a little too much like TK
2. Most episodes capture a tone a little too close to the Pilot arc
3. Both Takuya and Tai have an episode where they ditch the group
4. Both have a direct Devil as the antagonist
5. No All Deaths Are Final concept,it doesn't toy with it like Savers, play it straight like Tamers or try to outright ignore the idea like 02,Digimon are reborn as eggs
6. Both have an episode where they save Whamon
7. Digital World takes up more space than Earth, when Tamers inverts this, and the other seasons have a lot of carting between the two.
Luminous beings are we, not this crude matterNeither Adventure nor Frontier was particularly good, at least not to me. Savers and Tamers were better.
None of that really negates what I said. The level systems was mentioned all of once and then completely ignored. The actions on screen speak for themselves.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture Rack@Saiga: Andromon was an ultimate then; he first appeared in the virtual pets, where that was his level. And then the very next episode had Monzaemon, who was not just an Ultimate but a Game-Breaker of an Ultimate in the pets.

The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."They didn't actually overpower Andromon, though. They just knocked the gear out of him. And spent the whole episode running from him. I don't recall the Monzaemon ep, though.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyExactly.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Monzaemon struck me as a questionable Ultimate, like Garbagemon, Pumpkinmon or Deramon (which was made a Com Mon in 02).
He seems more like a Champion.
No, they just have their own unique level system to differentiate a bit.
Most Human spirits are somewhere from Champion to low Ultimate, Beasts spirits are stronger Ultimates, and the regular Fusion Evolutions (Not Ancient Spirit) are as strong as a Mega.
I think it even says so on the profiles what their real level is.
