Davis also wore his goggles briefly during a sandstorm, IIRC.
Yes, but that's not the point. These guys didn't predict the use they were going to do with with goggles until this time. They have no in-universe reason to be using it from the beginning, they are just wearing goggles because Taichi did it.
To be frank, I kinda got the impression that Takato slapped on the goggles cause he thought they looked cool.
In the dub, it's a far more blatant nod to Taichi since the previous seasons were an in-universe T.V. series.
One Strip! One Strip!x2
Incorrect. From a meta perspective they wore goggles to make all the leaders share common traits. In series only Davis wore them to take after Tai while in the dub Takato wore them to take after Yolie. We can just assume the others wore them for fashion in the other seasons.
Well season six retconned things so that Adventure and Zero Two were an anime in Tamer's universe in the Japanese version as well.

Yeah. I remember that comment he made during the crossover.
As much as I hate Young Hunters (and as much as I'm force to acknowledge that Xros Wars as a whole didn't do the franchise any favours if all those talks of poor ratings is anything to go on) I'm willing to let that go because it doesn't harm anything.
I recall that Adventure being a series in the backstory of Tamers was something they were going to do, but the idea was dropped wasn't it?
One Strip! One Strip!I don't know. From what I hear it wasn't in the original Japanese backstory for Tamers and the dub added that in. Then Xros Wars came along and retconned it so that it applied to the Japanese version as well.
Yeah, in the original Tamers, Digimon was a franchise but there was no reference to Digimon Adventure specifically. There wasn't anything that confirmed there wasn't Digimon Adventure either but it would have been a leap in logic to just assume it existed. (It was twice confirmed not to exist in C-Mon/V-tamer, where Digimon is also a franchise and could have existed in D-Cyber or Next but no one ever tries to connect those to Adventure or anything else)
edit:speaking of D-Cyber, where did the Digimon dictionary get off calling Samudramon a Greymon subspecies? It was always part of the Ryudamon line and always was a natural X antibody carrier, which no Greymon has been. Is it because they have a vaguely similar helmet?
But yes, Taichi's goggles did not just have function that just so happened to come in handy. They were given to him specifically for that function and had meant something to him long before monsters had. It wouldn't even be so annoying if nearly every lead did not have goggles as well. It's even in the video games now.

Meta is not an in-universe reason for doing something. What I really want is the protagonist to have a reason behind using the goggles, that's all. Personally, this trait annoys more me a lot because it reinforces First Installment Wins in certain parts of the fandom. It was okay when Takato did it, but nowadays it seems the writers themselves are trying to emulate Tai or something like that.

Those were two separate points. That said there really doesn't need to be any justification for why they all wear goggles. It's a shared trait to set them apart as leaders. That's really a good enough reason.
I'm gonna pull YMMV on that, it just bugs me. I think it needs something beyond meta to justify it, but that's just me.

It could just be that they are wearing goggles because they want to. Goggles are a fashion statement in some cultures and hey, they look kinda cool so why not wear one? Sure, the meta reason is because it's basically to represent the leader, but they might as well be wearing those because they want to just like some people wear cosmetic glasses despite having perfectly normal sight, they don't need to have a function. It does come in use for Takuya a few times in Frontier if I remember right at least.
The problem with it being fashion statement is that we never see anyone else other than the protagonists using goggles, it is always just the main character. Never a secondary character, never a CoTW, never their parents, not even a passerby, if that's just for fashion this is one heck of a coincidence. By this logic what prevents a villain from appearing wearing goggles one day? Now I think about it that's a good idea for a Wrong Genre Savvy Anti-Villain, though. At this point they should play with the concept a little bit.
So a new season was announced to be airing in Spring 2015 today. However I bet you nobody expected this:
I was only expecting a new season in the next year. There is not even 3 years since Xros Wars ended in Japan.
I am excited by the way. An Adventure 3 wouldn't exactly be my personal choice for a sequel, but a new installment is always welcome. Hoping for them to fix the mess known as 02 and finally deal with the plot points left hanging.
And they are not following from the dreaded epilogue, but from Taichi's high-school days. HOORAY!! The only way for this to be complete is to pull a retcon on that epilogue.

Well presumably it will be set between then end of 02 and the epilogue. So by evolving they probably mean that the Adventure universe will get more expanded upon.
Adventure bombed the last time they put on reruns in Japan yet TOEI is still beating that horse.
Well, Xros Wars was a step in the right direction in my opinion, final arc aside (and even that could have been good if they just made it an actual new season and didn't involve a bunch of established characters who got in the way of fleshing out Gumdramon and didn't have another idiot human lead) It gave us the first tactical lead since I don't know when and gave us not one but three and a tactical antagonist. I know it wasn't sliced bread #2 but it was a step. It treated all the monsters as individuals with their own histories and motivations, they weren't just names that hung around the protagonists and shot fireballs. None of them actually had names but it was a step.
So Xros Wars will never get that kick awesome movie I imagined and I can live with that. Taichi and Zero will probably remain buried in the depths of the franchise, the unused and underdeveloped monsters from C-mon and V-tamer will probably remain unused and underdeveloped and I can bear that. By why Adventure? Why not the Wonder Swan? Why not Tamers? (why not give us new characters in a new spin on the concept?) Wasn't the PSP game enough Adventure for the rest of the decade? Maybe they'll be some interesting new monsters that change my mind, otherwise, I'll pass.

"Why Adventure?" because its what made digimon popular everywhere that wasnt japan.
Evolve has no real meaning. It's just a word that sounds good. Also, digimons evolve, remember?
It's called publicity, man. It's more about creating catchphrases than actually something that make sense.
Hum, but we didn't saw anything yet. So I have nothing to say about this, don't matter how secretly hyped I am.

What is anime? Anime is...only a weeaboo way of saying animation, really.Personally, I don't think Xros Wars was that good. While they did a wonderful job giving actual fleshed out personalities for the Digimon partners it came at the cost of the human protagonists being seriously lacking in quality. Taiki is a mix of Purity Sue and Canon Sue, Nene is a Faux Action Girl who keeps getting kinapped and Kiriha did worse decisions than Matt did in the Cherrymon episode. And the main villain is the typical overpowered boss who choses to just sit in a throne and do nothing until the end and whose motivations, despite claims of idealism, is actually just turn the world into a living hell, my least favorite type of villain. And I feel I am the only one who can appreciate Akari and Zenjirou as characters. Xros Wars started good, but it couldn't give a good resolution to half of its characters and got gradually worse as it went on, just see what they did to Lilithmon, Hunters is just the logical extreme of this downfall.
On the other hand the manga adaptation, despite the continuity errors, fixes most of these mistakes. The Bagra Commanders are always a credible threat, there are no Death Generals or Mervamon, and Bagramon is more sympathetic there. This one, I recommend.

So....how exactly can the Adventure evolve if they are just going back to an old story?
Well this is best Digimon news in a long, long time.
Adventure 3? Wow, never thought I'd see the day. Dare I hope they finally get to Dragomon?
To all the Digidestined in the world.
15 years after that summer vacation.
No Toei, no ;-;
You can't just put that song on. Put those scenes. That damn whistle. That's just not fair.
My nostalgia is hurting a lot. Cry if you lifted your imaginary Digidevice ;_;/°

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.
I'm pretty sure Takuya actually used his goggles for at least something in Frontier, even if it was minor.
But hey, Marcus doesn't wear goggles, that's something I guess.
