It's the old elevator chant identifying what's for sale on each floor of a department store.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I figured it out, but I will agree that it might need a custom title to insert some punctuation so it stops looking like a bunch of random words tossed together.
ETA: Do we actually need the "tropes" placeholder word? I know the trope specifies that the third word is "plot relevant," but I can think of instances of this trope where it was just a random gag. Perhaps it needs a slight expansion?

How about replacing "ding" by "third floor"? The name is pretty confusing unless you already know what it means, and I don't think it's all that common in real life any more.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! There is now a single proposition rename crowner here.
I figured it was worth putting together given that some still seem to have issues with the current name despite the custom title change.
"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 d"Third Floor" isn't really all that indicative either, as there are now department stores with a single floor. The only thing that really might make 'Third Floor' easier for =some= would be if they are familiar with Are You Being Served, where the elevator cant is part of the catchy Theme Song (As the show is somewhat on the same level of fame in Britain as I Love Lucy is in the states, that's probably where most people -know- this trope from in the first place).
I'm actually going to hazard that that's why Madrugada got it in one.
All that said, do we have misuse?

Want to rename a trope? Step one: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.I got the trope once I saw it, but it was actually a bit hard to look for it while working on my Rhyming Long List YKTTW.
How about something like "X Floor, Bread, Eggs and Tropes"
The sad, REAL American dichotomyNo, using "trope" as a placeholder.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. It's a stock quote; I thought we were dumping those, or something. Is there an underlying trope I'm not seeing?
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Supporting rename on the basis of Trope-as-a-placeholder.
Rhymes with "Protracted.""This Floor, Bread Eggs Milk and Gags"
The sad, REAL American dichotomySince this is numbers, it should be Nth Floor, since that is done for The Nth Doctor.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I got it easily, but then I used to watch a lot of old Looney Tunes, and I'm familiar with the page.

Any title using Bread Eggs Milk sounds like a snowclone of Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick and doesn't actually describe the trope, since those aren't things you'd buy in a department store.
Because this trope is always about usual department store items.
I've mostly seen it used to describe any kind of product in a similar way as Bread, Eggs, etc. Also, it would be easy to recognize. As I said before, I had problems finding this trope when I knew we had it and what it meant, and having to get in the mind frame of what someone else considers usual department store items isn't that much better.
The sad, REAL American dichotomy2.38:1 ratio in favor of renaming. Time to call this one and switch to an alt-title crowner.
I didn't write any of that.'gags' makes it sound like a store for kidnappers. How about This Floor For Plot Coupons ?
'gags' makes it sound like a store for kidnappers. How about This Floor For Bread And Humor?

Hmm. They're all in the red.
Any other suggestions? Or just leave the name?

The sad, REAL American dichotomyNone of those are any good. Elevator Floor Announcement?
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Ah, just give it some time and a good name will turn up. We've got some 900 other TRS issues we can look at in the mean time, we're not in a hurry on this one.

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I'm trying to bump and get the mods to close them as I come across them, as many of them tend to stall for forever.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyClose what, exactly? Active crowners that don't have a formed consensus yet? What's the point of that, anyway?
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!
Crown Description:
Previous crowner showed consensus to rename Ding Sportswear Pantyhose And Tropes.
It's time to play everyone's favorite game! That's right, it's Guess The Trope!
Guess the trope's meaning and win fabulous prizes!

This is a sinkhole.
