Darn, I was hoping that this thread would be about Silent Hill or something else with an Antichrist archetype.

[lol] at that Kotick dig several posts above this one.

Point conceded.

And how would PARIAH be charismatic? He's a baby.

Er, in the shape of a baby.

Vanitas from Birth By Sleep could possibly qualify. Quite literally made of evil, pragmatic, ruthless, damn near impossible to kill, he gains control of the Key to open the series' equivalent of the Kingdom of Heaven so that he can destroy the Universe (under orders, but he made no signs he was going to obey them) and he is quite literally a dark version of Sora, the series' resident Messiah and Jesus Archetype.

And how could you all forget Kane? He's been blown up by an Ion Cannon, stabbed with a spear, blown up with an Ion Cannon again and lived to talk about it. And let's not forget that he inspires fanatic devotion, even after he was betrayed BY HIS OWN FORCES!

WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT IN THIS THREAD.

I mean if there is a specific trope being discussed, maybe just let's read the examples list aloud and call it a day, if not then what the shit.

I thought we were talking about possible examples of the antichrist in video games.

[up] I think we are.

Another example would be Goldman from House Of The Dead series. A much more better example will be the Mysterious Man.

But how is it possible? He is a dirty commie, hates the American way, and is so obviously blaspheming the One Lord Almighty! That MUST be the Antichrist! Let's go and shoot him to death!

It seems that the OP is trying to look for video game villains that might be the Antichrist. Not that it makes much sense, but...

Shouldn't we all be talking about false teachers if we're talking about the Antichrist? After all, thats what it was before crazies got their hands on the word.

Christian Theology Lesson Time!

The term "Antichrist" has two meanings in Christian theology:

  • 1: A general concept of the "Spirit of the Antichrist" which refers to teachings which deny Christ's teachings.
  • 2: A dictatorial world leader who, by some interpretations of Revelation, will emerge in the end times and lead a violently anti-Christian regime, coming to power after miraculously surviving an unsurvivable wound. <- probably what the OP was thinking of.

I assume this thread is about none other than that old classic Antichrist, and how it was actually a metaphor for how video games are evil, or something. I guess.

No, I doubt Death Note Fan is a troll, just...how do I put it politely these days?

They seem to have this really weird obsession with villains. Always asking if a work contains Complete Monster types or Non-Action Big Bad types and the like and posting weird theories that don't quite make sense and ignoring other posters points completely.

So it's just best to smile, nod and ignore.

Well, there's a video game based on the Left Behind series...

That's the best example I can think of.

How about the real Alex Mercer from Prototype?

Name means "savior of man"? Check. Being persuasive? Check. Having a desire to end the world? Check.
