A Game of Gods: Infinities

Go To

It has been a year since the final challenge took place.

It has been a year since the traitorous creature known as Omega was exiled to a place of void an nothingness. It has been a year since an unlikely group of beings fought their way free from the clutches of their captors, the enigmatic Nomads, who had forced them to take part in a bizarre series of competitions for their own amusement. And it seemed that, for a time, the Nomad's machinations had ended, and the people of the myriad realities were free to live their lives free of divine interference.

They were wrong.

Now, a year after the final Challenge, strange new forces are beginning to conspire. Old and new beings alike will find themselves caught up in a brand new quest for survival and freedom among unlikely backdrops, a quest that will bring them to the edge of... infinity.

Hello, and welcome to the signup thread for A Game Of Gods: Infinities. First of all, thanks for taking an interest in the thread, and I hope you'll sign up for this game. As the old Forum RP hands are familiar with, all the standard rules apply- autohitting, godmodding, ghosting, metagaming, etc. are unacceptable like in any other game.

Challenges

The basic premise of the game is quite similar to last season, with a group of heroes and/or villains taking on challenges, often pitting them against heroes or villains from another universe. To begin with, we will be working through a glut of challenges leftover from the previous round, but after that people will be able to suggest and implement their own challenges.

This season, Two challenges will usually run at once. A secondary challenge will takeplace alongside the primary challenge, giving new layers something to do or an alternative to the primary challenge. This may affect what happens to your character in the long run, so choose wisely!

If you have an idea for a challenge, feel free to consult any of the GMs: Stratofarious, Troydenite and Flanker66. Remember, if nothing else, please try to keep challenges brief and manageable! 2 weeks is the maximum time a challenge should take, and please be sure that you or someone else will be able to see it through to completion.

Signups

  • Name (obvious)
  • Appearance: (Link or avatar is fine)
  • Universe: (Series they hail from, preferably a timepoint within the series as well.)
  • Personality:
  • Abilities/Powers: A list of the various things your character can do. Remember, characters should be at at 2 or under at the Super Weight scale.

Some people may recieve a PM telling them that they're allowed to play as an OC, an original character. Please don't ask if you didn't get a PM right away, you may get a chance to switch characters later on if you want.

And that's about it. We hope that you sign up and get ready for another round of cation, adventure, and drama!

The adventure begins on July 24th, so be ready for Infinities!

I was planning to play Archer (The dashing fellow in my icon). I was going to remove the Nobel Phantasms that he has copied and nerf the ones he has remaining. Also get rid of his regeneration ability and make Unlimited Blade Works more costly.

Suggest that we need a list on who's being ready for use in the next game and who's not.

  • Name: Kinoko Masha/Masha Kinoko
  • Appearance: Here
  • Universe: Though originally from a popular Touhou webcomic, this version of the character is altered to fit into canon Touhou.
  • Abilities/Powers: As a youkai, Masha is capable of superhuman regeneration(Though instant-kill, or otherwise heavily damaging attacks will kill her before she can regenerate), and possess strength fitting of an very strong, grown man. She is also capable of producing danmaku, and as a mushroom youkai most of it is mushhroom-themed. Though normally nonlethal, and simply very painful, this danmaku is capable of killing when it is allowed to by the person producing it. This danmaku includes standard magical bullets, and mushroom-shaped danmaku that can cause small explosions. Masha is also capable of growing mushrooms, though this likely isn't very useful in combat.

  • Name: Grey/ DAN-003 (spoilered due to plot reasons)
  • Appearance: Non-Megamerged and Megamerged
  • Universe: Megaman ZX Advent, just after the conclusion of the game
  • Abilities/Powers: Grey has the ability to Megamerge* using his Biometal - Model A - which grants him several special abilities.

The most basic of these is that he gains twin busters, which allow him to fire energy projectiles in a rapid fashion. They can be charged to fire a large plasma orb, which deals more damage. He can also use Homing Shot to fire lasers that can track up to 8 targets at once (which for the sake of fairness will not be unerringly accurate, and will be weaker the more lasers are fired). Giga Crush is an attack wherein Grey fires his busters at an impressive rate, although he will be left immensely vulnerable if an enemy can weave through the shots (and the attack can also be interrupted before use, as it has a fairly lengthy charge time). The armour probably also provides extra protection over his normal outfit, though probably not by much.

He can also use A-Trans, a system that allows Grey to copy limited versions of an enemy's powers. However, in order to do so he needs to acquire their Data Cores, which naturally non-mechanical foes would lack, but he won't be able to collect Data Cores unless I am specifically given the greenlight to do so, so this won't affect us. The forms are as follows*

:

  • Buckfire - In this A-Trans form, access to a series of agility attacks is unlocked, including a diving kick that can destroy certain boxes. This is the fastest for travel in the game as the player is always in a dashing motion while moving.

  • Chronoforce - In this A-Trans form, the player can move freely through water (similar to Model L), and fire icicles. His hide is completely invulnerable to all forms of offense. In addition, he possesses an electronic-disrupting technique called 'Time Bomb' that gives the sensation of slowing down time. Chronoforce is rendered immobile if not in water, but can still use Time Bomb combined with his hide makes his ability just as ideal on the ground. Chronoforce is so horribly broken that he will not be available unless the GMs can come up with a less unfair way to use him.

  • Rospark - In this A-Trans form, the player can climb ropes, shoot Rose Stingers, and use his whips to attack enemies on ground or attached to poles or electrify them with a charged attack as well as airborne enemies. On the ground, Rospark remains in an extremely slow-moving bulb form, while his true power blossoms in flower form whenever attached to a pole.

  • Argoyle & Ugoyle - In this A-Trans form, the player controls Argoyle and attacks with Ar Bombs, spherical weapons that explode after ricocheting. This form can 'infinite dash' and summon Ugoyle as a 'ghost' player that follows all over the player's movements and is invulnerable to harm. In addition, Ugoyle is not affected by terrain and can retrieve items in out-of-reach areas. There is a special monthly unlockable chip which changes the form's Ar Bombs into soccer balls. Ugoyle will be vulnerable, and if he is damaged too much then he will disappear, leaving Grey without him for a certain period of time.

  • Queenbee - In this A-Trans form, the user can fly into the air to collect items previously inaccessible. The player is also able to carry objects larger than itself, usually by pulling it from underground.

  • Hedgeshock - In this A-Trans form, the character can roll through small spaces without having to transform into their human form (very much like Sonic's spin abilities) and can cut through obstacles while doing so. She also has access to a Rakuhouha-like attack.

  • Vulturon - In this A-Trans form, the ability to stick to walls and weights to move them is available. The user is able to hover in the air until Biometal energy runs out.

  • Bifrost - In this A-Trans form, the user gains a drastic size increase. Bifrost can attack with buzz-saws that deals multiple hits. Its other attack includes Ice Fangs that fire ice shards while the mouth is completed extended, giving the user limited invulnerability with the mouth. It also has two attacks not listed in the move list screen: Tail Swing, which flings enemies away while turning the opposite direction; and crushing enemies while falling to the ground or landing on them. The form's jaws are strong enough to destroy the plasma-powered electric blocks.

  • Aeolus - As a copy of Aeolus using the Model H Biometal, this A-Trans form allows the use of the same abilities of Model HX in the first Mega Man ZX game, including Enemy Analyzing. Sorry for just outright linking to a wiki page as to the Biometal's abilities, but I can't remember them off-hand. Ditto the other Biometals. Also, Enemy Analyzing will be a concious action rather than a passive one. Ditto the other special abilities of the Biometals.

  • Atlas - As a copy of Atlas using the Model F Biometal, this A-Trans form allows the use of the same abilities of Model FX in the first Mega Man ZX game, including Buster Edit.

  • Thetis - As a copy of Thetis using the Model L Biometal, this A-Trans form allows the use of the same abilities of Model LX in the first Mega Man ZX game, including Item Searching.

  • Siarnaq - As a copy of Siarnaq using the Model P Biometal, this A-Trans form allows the use of the same abilities of Model PX in the first Mega Man ZX game, including Night Scope and attacking enemies on the touch screen.

  • Aile - Imitating Aile in the Model ZX form is available. The abilities of Model ZX from the previous Mega Man ZX game are available for use, as well as a character-specific ability for Grey that was not featured in the first ZX game. Grey's (Aile's) character-specific ability in Aile's form is 'Energy Fissure' ('Fission' in the English version), a downward stab move that spews forth rocks on impact.

When Grey isn't Megamerged, he isn't too tough despite being a Reploid and he relies on a small pistol-type buster to protect himself. This makes him extremely vulnerable in such situations. In order to help balance Megamerging, he needs to have Model A in his physical posession in order to Megamerge (and although Model A can attempt to hover back to Grey, its' success is not guaranteed), and if he loses it he will immediately revert back to his normal form. It also takes him a few moments to finish transforming, which will leave him vulnerable to any particularly cunning foe.

If you have any questions or objections, please tell me. As well, if Grey is not suitable I'll be happy to change. smile

Also, I may or may not be present for one or two days when the RP starts, so please bear that in mind.

@Flanker: Looks alright, but could you give me an abridged version?

Okay, here's the super-pared down version:

  • Grey is a Ridiculously Human Robot who can use a Transformation Trinket to turn into a much more powerful form. If he loses it he will revert back to his normal form, which is very weak and only has a pistol for offence. His transformation can also be interrupted. His normal state out of combat is non-transformed.

  • Grey can transform into a variety of different characters, all of which have different capabilities (such as having immense strength, a high speed, the ability to fly, etc.). However, they also have weaknesses (such as elemental weaknesses or just plain flaws).

  • Some of these forms will be toned down as necessary while one (Chronoforce) has been removed entirely due to its' status as completely broken.

I think that's the gist of it, but if I've missed anything I'll tell you.

  • Name: Archer AKA Heroic Spirit Emiya
  • Appearance: Link
  • Universe: Fate/Stay Night, after the Unlimited Blade Works route
  • Abilities/Powers: Archer is proficient in a few different types of magic. He is able to Reinforce objects, pushing an object to its greatest potential. He is able to use the Tracing version of Projection magic, allowing him to observe on object and then create a copy of it. This copy is always weaker then the original and is unable to be reinforced. The copy also can not last very long after creation, usually breaking down after Archer is done using it. Projection also ties into another ability of his known as Unlimited Blade Works.

Unlimited Blade Works is a sort of reality marble contained within Archer. It is a field filled with an almost infinite amount of swords or bladed weapons that he has Traced, including a few Nobel Phantasms. He is able to call forth this Reality Marble to pull himself and anyone else around into. While inside Unlimited Blade Works, Archer has full and complete control of any weapon created within. Calling this forth though uses a massive amount of Prana and is considered a last resort attack.

Archer has about three Nobel Phantasms that he is able to Project. The first and most used one is the dual blades of Kanshou and Bakuya. These two swords are connected to Archer and will return to him when thrown. Not only that they are blessed to be more effective against monsters. There is also Hrunting and Caladbold II, which are swords used as Broken Phantasms. Archer will use these as arrows for his bow, to fire off and explode for a lot of damage. Hrunting has the special affect of tracking its target so long as Archer remains aiming at them.

Since Archer is a Heroic Spirit and therefore dead, he is able to turn invisible and intangible, but must turn back in order to attack. (this bit I can easily have removed)
