The image it used has the same picture as Hilariously Abusive Childhood. Could we change the picture? Maybe with something more harsh.

Current fangirl target: Dunno, but most likely Danny Jacob.

[up][up] How about using a picture of Fate being whipped by her mother? That would definitely be harsh and obviously not Played for Laughs

I have one thing to say...yikes O_O

That poor girl. :(

I hate doing this (because those images are pretty much exactly what I think we need for this trope image...horrifying but not off on the squicky deep end.)

But...sorry, I'm going to play devil's advocate for a moment...how are those two related?-they don't look really anything alike.

(I figured I'd play devil's advocate first before someone else says it-because I know somebody was probably going to say that).

[up] ah...

The only reason I asked this, because I know without a doubt, somebody will pop in saying that they should look more related-or it could be just some random sicko not related to the kid beating them up because they find it fun.

[up] The caption could deal with the issue of it not being clear that they're related.

It would be ideal, though, to have an image in which the caption didn't have to do that.

That image is acceptable if we can't find one, though.

[up]I was going to, it would probably be most ideal-but not required.

I mean we should keep an eye out for that. But so far we have a good start because those images....*cringes*

The poor girl.

This is Mimi-don't let her cuteness fool you-she's got spunk.

It's been more than a month and it doesn't seem as though anything better has been found yet. Maybe we could try something like this?

She neither looks nor acts like that girl's mother.

It's the third image that Raso posted earlier. While the subtitle doesn't outright say that the two are related, it could be (and is meant to be) interpreted that way, and I wrote the caption to add further clarification.

[up] The only problem I have with that pic is that it doesn't make clear that it's Fate's mom doing the lashing...are there any shots of them together that would establish that relationship?

[up] There are a few scenes of them together when she's stuck in a Lotus-Eater Machine near the end of season 2, or the family photo of the two of them(well of the girl she's a clone of) shown in the OP of season 3, and a couple episodes in season 1.

[up]That's what was said before, but it doesn't seem as though anything better has been found. It's been a while since I watched anything Nanoha related, but from what I can remember I don't think that there are any screencaps that can be taken that simultaneously portray both Precia's abuse and the biological relation between her and Fate. Like doineedaname said, however, some screencaps that merely establish their relationship as mother and daughter can be taken.

So, for now we have at least two options. We could either take one of the mother-daughter screencaps and place it on top of the screencap of Precia whipping Fate, or we could just take the whipping screencap and add a caption that lets readers know that they're mother and daughter. I posted an example of what we could do for the second option a few posts back (with screwed up coding, but we can easily fix that if we end up using it).

Goofy just got scary.

I tried this for Hilariously Abusive Childhood, but that got shot down pretty quickly.

Well, I already pulled the image from Hilariously Abusive Childhood. That means that the argument should probably be changed.

[up] I'd go for "current image shows too little contrast to Hilariously Abusive Childhood".

On other news, I ended up here wanting to suggest the Goofy Time image. I support that, it really gets the point across and also gets bonus points from being an immediately recognisable scene (parent comes to child's room to beat them). Plus it's artistic (if not for the crude bubbles) and super creepy.
