Well, there's nothing in the text that would imply that is the case, so I'd have to say, no, the Geas won't give you access to anything you could not normally use.
As for Geasa stacking, again, there is nothing to imply that they don't stack, so I have to assume they do. (Note, however, that Purview Geasa are much harder to come by than Boon ones, as the latter can be taken more or less at will by Tuatha Scions, while the former must be laid by a god.)
My title is no longer sticking out of its box, but I couldn't think of anything better to put here.Well, for the "Giving access to" thing, I was talking more about the Hero's Geas (Enech **) thing.
Anyface, me and a couple friends MIGHT be organizing a Scion game online soon. Would anyone be interested?
My name is Cu Chulainn. Beside the raging sea I am left to moan. Sorrow I am, for I brought down my only son.I'd be interested.
"You have more than enough potential. So tell me what is the one wish that would make your soul gem shine." -Mitt Romney, probablyScion is the confirmed game.
Any more takers? Especially one that would be willing to be Storyteller?
My name is Cu Chulainn. Beside the raging sea I am left to moan. Sorrow I am, for I brought down my only son.Bump. We're still looking for players. Any takers at all? COME AT ME BROS.
My name is Cu Chulainn. Beside the raging sea I am left to moan. Sorrow I am, for I brought down my only son.So what do you guys think of Scion's combat system? My group was playing it and though we loved the world building, we weren't enthused with the combat system. The general consensus was that it was unbalanced. It was either you kill shit really easily if it's a lower level that you, or if it's higher than you, it'll just stomp you flat.
Granted, my party only had two people focused heavily on the physical and one guy had almost no physical attributes at all, but I wanted to get other peoples thoughts.
Imagine Rakan applying Calling Your Attacks to doing paperwork.~Anarchy Rakan for the hell of it COMMISSION THIS BRIDGE!~EHKI admit that something of a higher level than you can stomp the sweet fuck out of a gimpy party; however, if you're fighting things too strong or too weak, that it up with your Storyteller. After all, in most games, you ARE expected to be fighting things of a roughly equal leve to yourself.
My name is Cu Chulainn. Beside the raging sea I am left to moan. Sorrow I am, for I brought down my only son.Or is the issue more that "horde of lessers" is trivial to beat, and "one big nasty" is almost impossible?
The Slavic gods need an official stat block and fluff. They've even mentioned one in one of the in-book sample adventures (Svarog, I think), so White Wolf is obviously aware of them.
The Native American gods need stats too, come to think of it.
Well, it's obvious they're statting up more pantheons, however slow the process may be.
My name is Cu Chulainn. Beside the raging sea I am left to moan. Sorrow I am, for I brought down my only son.True, given the release of the Yazata. I'd imagine that the most time-consuming part is designing and playtesting the pantheon-specific purview.
I think, like all combat systems, it's only as good as the GM using it.
One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderSo, I want to make sure I've got this correct; for running a game centered on a Cosmic Chess Game, this is the system that would best facilitate that, right?
The comics equivalent of PTSD.It's certainly a good system for it, I don't know if I'd say it's the best. However, if you're playing long enough, then the characters can work their way up to being the chess players instead of the chess pieces.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswI thought I'd give the thread a bump, since I spotted a couple of other Scion players in the other threads and the game needs some more love.
What kinds of campaigns do folks have going? Has anyone actually managed to ascend their P Cs all the way to godhood?
Also generally curious to see what the pantheons other groups are running. For example, the one I'm in currently has scions of Dionysus, Artemus, Tyr, Lakshmi, and Legba.
I don't have a group right now, because lolsouthernohio.
There need to be more mythology and/or tabletop gaming nerds in this place.
Hm, I was thinking. At some point in the future, and with the original creator's permission, one could run a game like Aut Omniaaut Nihil with the Scion system, just tweak some flavour.

Mura: -flips the bird to veterinary science with one hand and Euclidean geometry with the other-Hey ho. Breaking out the old books because I'm going to fan-stat the Wiccan god and goddess. Who wants to see the results?
Mura: -flips the bird to veterinary science with one hand and Euclidean geometry with the other-Never hurts to have more pantheons, in my view. Working on a Native American Pantheon, and am debating if I should add it to the White Wolf Wiki fan section when I'm done.
Question for those who have played Scion, and actually made it to godhood: I'm curious as to how your Storyteller handled it. I mean, those are some pretty massive dice pools when you get all those Epic Attributes running.
Our Storyteller was struggling a bit, and while I think he's finally come up with an eloquent solution, I'm still wondering about a) campaigns that made it that far and b) others' godly characters at that state.
So, having just moved back and talking to some of my old gaming buddies from years ago, one of them is quite a fan of Scion, to the point of recommending the campaign idea I had should use Scion instead of Aberrant. Now, I'm not hugely familiar with Scion; I like the concept enough for what it is. But Scion, at least in the Hero stage, puts a rather large emphasis on the point that without their particular relics, the heroes lose all of their boons/followers/guides, and that's not something that would fly with the campaign idea I had. What's a good way to work around it so that they aren't restricted on their power uses short of cutting relics out of the game?
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswYou could make relics something near irremovable, like a tattoo or somethin'.
Or, you know, you could just ignore that tiny little rule altogether. It's your game, play it how you want to.
One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderIf they lose a relic, they only lose any Purviews and bonuses attached to that specific item. Epic Attributes and Boons don't require relics, and followers/creatures/guides aren't lost unless they're summoned by/attached to a relic for some reason. My character's supernatural bloodhound operated completely on his own, for example.
Along with Deathonabun's quite valid suggestion, you could also modify it so a character keeps their powers if their relic is removed, but only for so long afterward, like twenty-four hours. Once they've been separated that long, they lose their powers until they get reunited with the item. It could add a nice ticking clock to a scenario.
Might be of interest, they are kickstarting two supplements, Dragon which allows you to play as descendants of Dragons and Masks of the Mythos that introduces a pantheon based on the Cthulhu Mythos
Working on cleaning up List of Shows That Need SummaryWhat are people's impressions of 2nd edition Scion? I haven't had the time to do more than a skim of the first two books.
I'm enjoying my characters lot in life.
High dexterity and charisma, specializing in stealth and socializing.
Combat is actually not too bad for me either. The last fight we got in I hid under the cape of our rather large meatshield and used Shadow Refuse, then starting shouting out Overt Orders.
We ended the combat with said meatshield doing a gigantic swing of his sword and me rolling underneath it and stabbing the guy in the side for a coordinated assault. As it was a surprise, he had no dodge.
We...uh...cut his upper torso into three separate pieces.
Fun times.
