I am not the shooter kind of person, Gaiut. Although if you wish to play Atlas Reactor, I'd be willing.

ps: BTW, it is a pity that the TRPG is, as far as anyone is concerned, dead. And so is the game I tried to start with my friends from college sad.

@Killer Clowns, that's no obstacle. The open beta only runs from 23rd to the 27th, so it shouldn't take time away from diving into a TRPG.

Anyone else? Snowy maybe, if you're not too busy with studies?

@ladytanuki: I find it interesting that in the setting the Bardic Sisters are from writing a spell is casting it. I wonder were did you get the idea from, since in the setting my characters are from a similar phenomenon exists, despite the ways their magic works being as far as I know completely different.

^^^ Ahhhhh, sorry, don't think I'm gonna have time. I think I've already mentioned that the way my workload across all courses was spread out this semester made February unreasonably terrible while every other month is fairly okay in comparison. I'm still salty about it. On the other hand, at least it's almost over.

Is it??? I haven't checked in on it in a while but that's only because I basically finished my character sheet already. :x

It isn't. The system is actually highly complete, and I intended to run a game for us before a bunch if folks got busy again. This keeps happening. We almost start and then people have real life issues to deal with. I asked about changing the format from a live game to play-by-post in order to accommodate people's schedules, but not many people seemed to like that. I still think it's the better option given how often this problem recurs.

So, first wine today.

It was one of Mike's Hard Lemonade flavors (in this case black cherry) and it was actually really good! It tasted more like a soda than wine.

I'm still gonna be a little busy until Saturday or Sunday so I won't be able to post a lot, so Castle group, you guys can like skip over The Boys until I get back!

EDIT: [up] Hah, that's not real wine! Mike's Hard Lemonade is like fruit juice compared to it! (And I'm pretty sure it's actually based off of beer.) Come back to me when you've had A Glass of Chianti. ...Nah, I shouldn't be so hard on you like that if it's your first drink, especially with me being nearly eight years older than you. (Am I really almost 29?! The years just fly by...)

[up][up][up][up][up][up] ([nja]) I didn't really get the whole spell-writing thing from anywhere - like many other ideas I have, I just derived it from other aspects of the universe. Basically the logic comes from figuring incantations can be in written form, such that the same intent one puts into speaking an incantation can be used to write those same words. Plus, in Latori (the language of Orenya), the ordering of words and use of specific suffixes attached to them is what distinguishes incantations from ordinary speechnote , so when an incantation is written down, pretty much anyone can tell it's an incantation by looking at it. Basically it's like using sigils in spellwork, though in this case the sigils are actual letters - which would make sense on a planet populated by Witch Species with a culture that revolves around the use of magic. Of course, a side effect of this is that when one writes a sentence in that language and words it too "powerfully", it can have a lasting magical effect on whatever it's written on - though such an effect can be easily removed by simply erasing the writing.

As a bonus, the pencil thing Gliosem used as a writing implement doesn't use any physical dye - instead it functions more like a magic wand, using a very specific form of transfiguration to change the color of the surface. Which means one can write on practically anything.

Scheduling TRPGs is always difficult. It's just hard to get people to be around at the same time for a few hours.

I'm pretty sure there's websites that can help us organize a schedule without needing to have like a whole back-and-forth of people suggesting times and then saying that they won't work. Can't recall any names at the moment.

[up]THIS. This is the reason why I've never played DnD, and only got as far as the signup form in a couple of other TRPGs.

I'm sure we'd be able to find a time where everyone were free, my main concern is that life would throw a curveball at us often enough to disrupt the game. Running it as a play-by-post has the advantage of decoupling the game from any set timetable. We all just contribute to it whenever we have the time, like the CD Ts. It also has the benefit of being somewhat familiar to us in that respect.

Several of us are in different timezones. It just seems like a more practical solution to me. Even if we did all get together at a set time, if memory serves we'd be talking to one-another through text anyway as opposed to over voice.

I've never been into tabletop RPGs, or tabletop games in general. I know there's a lot of writing that goes into crafting stories for the players to participate in, but from what I can tell, from trying to watch a Youtuber I like play in a TRPG campaign, the star of the show is the players verbally coming up with stuff in real-time. Being a writer, I'd rather just write what my characters would do, in prose. So if you guys did it play-by-post, I might consider attempting it at some point where I don't have school, just work.

And not to diminish the talk about the TRPG, but I think I finally figured out why Dream II has been feeling kind of 'off' to me compared to Dream I. In Dream I, most of the Cast Herds moved around semi-frequently. Even if they stayed in the same building or general area, they'd walk from room to room, or they'd look around and keep finding new stuff, even in locations that 'belonged' to a character, like Vince's greenhouse. Most of the groups I've been in tend to just stay in one place. (I also remember in those days, we didn't do location tags.) Except I don't know if that's a consequence of me and the people I write with having less time and energy to devote to CDTs, or if enforcing location tags sort of made moving from place to place into a full-on event, or if it's a symptom of a broader shift in how we roll around here, or what.

I've noticed characters have become a lot more stationary as well, but I'm not sure what accounts for it even on my end (since I've said before that I don't like it) let alone in general.

[up][up] A bunch if us CDT folk have been talking about getting together and playing a tabletop RPG, so a while ago me and a few other people decided to do it. The mechanics are basically complete, we're just embroiled in scheduling issues that are proving somewhat intractable.

7 hours 'til I have to bite the bullet. Haven't slept yet. No movie, but I don't think I'm going to be in a great state of mind for posting. There's got to be a better way to present this calculus 2 stuff. It's bonkers to remember all of this.

I don't think there is a good way to present Calc II to students who were not already mathematically attuned going into the class. The topics don't have much to do with each other, so there isn't really the same sense of progression as there was in Calc I. I took the class from an asshole professor in eight weeks and got a D. That summer was the freakin' worst.

@Nrj: I keep wanting to say it's a consequence of who I tend to end up writing with, because there are some Cast Herds that keep moving and doing stuff other than talking. It's not a universal problem. Although the fact that we've enforced location tags doesn't seem to have helped. I do think location tags and lists of who you're with in every post have made changing location or moving from group to group seem like a bigger deal than it should be.

I used to run some WFRP campaigns way back in school. We weren't exactly the most serious gaming group ever, but I have a lot of fun memories from that time.

Sorry for not posting already, I've gotten carried away reading With This Ring these past few days. I'll probably post for The Midnight Stitcher first, though I wanted to confirm if my slow pace is a problem. Like, I'm not entirely sure if I'll have to scrap doing the Vision scenes for Patches & Armory Knight for example.

I tried to start a TRPG with some friends from college, but it never took off, as they never put much effort on it.

Maybe I should ambush them armed with empty characters sheets and say Entertain me.

Or dedicate myself further to occultism so I can place a geas on them that will have horrible consequences if broken. But if I actually had magical abilities and did that it would be wrong, and it is just not my style either way.
