I'm just a little worried, since the character I've been planning is nonhuman. It probably won't be too big of a deal, though.

[up]I wouldn't worry too much about your character being an alien and most being humans.

Instead, you should worry about how the species of your character fits the setting, much like I worry about how the technology of my cyborg's implants and prosthetics fits it. The science is hard enough, from my limited knowledge as a first year Biology student, but I don't know if it fits the tech level.

EDIT: Anoerith post coming tomorrow. Sorry for making you people wait.

I'm iffy about the Planetfall setting. Not that I won't participate if it is the chosen setting, but I'm not a tremendous fan of Hard Sci-Fi. It's not a bad setting, but not entirely my cup of tea.

[up]:Well, it is not exactly mine either, but maybe you can find some aspect of it you like and build a character around it? That is what I did with transhumanism, which is something that fascinates me, despite some other hard sci-fi tropes not interesting me much.

Honestly, I don't think it sounds like a very 'hard' SF setting at all. It doesn't sound much more so than mine, at any rate, and I would never in a million years consider that hard SF. Though on the other hand I've never cared much about the distinctions to begin with, since they aren't all that related to quality.

I'm not sure if I'd classify the setting as "hard sci-fi". I mean, Gault probably knows it best, since he made it, but from his description it sounded more like Science Fantasy but with the fantasy parts heavily downplayed and explained with science and technology. Kind of like the inverse of Dungeon Punk.

But that's not really a bad thing. It certainly sounds a lot more interesting than a normal hard sci-fi setting would be, to me at least, and also much better for a campaign setting. Although genre labels don't really matter that much in the end.

[up]Well, I agree it sounds semi-hard rather than full hard sci-fi. From the limited descriptions, I'd place it somewhere near Mass Effect, or maybe a little harder.

Gault, et al.; as my still painfully delayed Frontier post will attest, I don't think I can afford to add an RPG to my schedule. Apologies.

I would start a thread for the discussion of the RPG, if I knew the right subforum.

Yeah, I haven't wanted to be the first one to mention it because of how slow I was to post in recent weeks, plus the fact that I've been a pest about posting before - but I am concerned that the CDTs are suffering because of this unrelated thing drawing away attention. There's been very few posts in the last few days, and all the conversation here is about it.

Of course, I know people also have finals and stuff, so it's not just the RPG.

I really don't think that's the case. People are just busy dealing with real life stuff right now. And I'm waiting on Snowy Foxes in Dream, anyway.

[up][up] Like I said, we can use Roll20 for discussing it after we figure out who's GMing and that person creates the campaign on the website. We can also work on character sheets after that, since they're built into the virtual tabletop.

Summer semester is coming up so I've been getting ready for that, and I'm still trying to work on my book, so yeah.

And I'm waiting for ET, but I may have to meme her again to get her to post.

Waiting on Electronic-Tragedy or Tehpillowstar before continuing, though I may go ahead with adding another character if my idle time persists. Just want to make sure they don't end up in the wrong spot.

By the way, Wolf, are Kaitlyn, Kris and James going to get any closer or are you waiting for Rip or Hazel to notice them in the distance?

Still working on my short fiction class admission sample. Though honestly at this point I don't even know how much I want to get in anymore. I just hope they're just looking for general writing competence instead of strength with short stories specifically because developing my skills in that area is the reason why I was interested in the class in the first place.

As I said on the previous page, I've had finals, and the end of the semester has just been tiring me out in general. I thought I was just going to have one pressing obligation this weekend, but then I came home and found out that I have to critique my sister's five-page paper, which is due tomorrow, and I have to bake cookies, also for some event my sister's ended up with. So there goes starting any posts or going to bed early.

I'd also have to agree with Nrj that I'm getting a little tired of having my CDT-related posts buried under RPG chatter, especially since the site devs still haven't fixed the issue with popping you to the last page of the thread even if the last post you saw in the thread was on a previous page. I don't really care that there's a lot of people interested in the RPG, since it's up to you guys what you choose to do with your time, I'd just like to keep this place on-topic. And this RPG chatter is different from us posting mini-updates about our lives, or me saying it was my birthday last weekend, because we don't typically spend the majority of multiple consecutive pages holding conversations about our lives or wishing each other happy birthday.

As for a dedicated thread, I might recommend Troper Covens, since the Tabletop RPGs subforum seems to be about works in the medium in general, rather than a meeting place for a roleplaying group.

[up][up] Like I said, we can use Roll20 to continue the discussion. I just thought it would be a good idea to make sure we're fine with Gault running it before it's created.

Minor nitpick electronic-tragedy, but Davey is supposed to be sitting alongside Irina rather than across from her. We've got 3 chairs on either side of the table, Irina and Samuel sat together, as did Amy and Maya. Connie took the open chair next to Amy and Maya, leaving the last to Davey.

I'll post as early as I can tomorrow. Too drowsy now. It'd be better to just rest...

I (and, as far as I can gather, nrjxll) seem to be waiting on ladytanuki to post in order to progress with the trip towards the mountains - I want to know what Nemaforte thinks before I have Gwion tie up the afflicted students and unceremoniously dump them off the back of the wagon tongue
