Except that's not what the trope is about.
I think it is on-point, though perhaps hitting the trope at an angle. The guy is basically anti-casual-gaming, but in this case his version of "hardcore gaming" is presumably "form a real rock band."
I think a larger problem is that the cartoon won't scale down to 350 pixels well.
Jet-a-Reeno!I oppose any image that has the words "Stop Having Fun" in it.
"Stop Having Fun" Guys is about skilled/compettitive gamers looking down on those don't play the same way they do.
Now it's sufering from decay and is applied to any kind of party pooper and this image supports that drifted defintion more than ours.
I really think we can do better.
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianWell, I'd like the article to have an image, but not necessarily that one. So what would you suggest? I'm sure we can find an image somewhere of "leet" people looking down on others.
...Perhaps Dr. Frink and his colored-ball-toy that he won't let the children play with?
That doesn't show a tournament player looking down on casual players for playing differently, that shows tournament rules. One is not the other.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Even worse. That's just how people play in tournements.
That implies all compettive players are "Stop Having Fun" Guys.
Something we also need to avoid.
You nailed most of my post.

Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianNot to mention that it probably wouldn't make much sense to somebody who has never played Smash Brothers.
For self-effacing humor reasons, how about a pic of the Image Picking Discussion and Trope Repair Shop buttons at the top of this very page? You can't find a greater concentration of people who are convinced that this wiki can only be contributed to in "the right way" and that other people should stop having fun "the wrong way" than in this type of thread.

^ You haven't read the trope page, have you?
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Not what the trope is; not even related to what the trope is.

Infinite Tree: an experimental storyPlus people using this trope like that is why the page is locked.

Pretty sure that's not what the trope is either.
-sigh-
Sometimes I wonder if people read trope pages at all.

Infinite Tree: an experimental storyBump...I'm voting no pic.
Actually that is what the trope is.
I'm not so sure. That phrase and the video that spawned it seem to imply that people are playing the game wrong because they only use a few settings, not mentioning much of an eletist attitude. It even said the moral of the video was "tourneytards don't deserve brawl", which carries some Unfortunate Implications against competitive players.
I don't want an image that lumps generic competitive players with "Stop Having Fun" Guys.
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianIt should be easy to find a SHFG pic in any halfway-decent Two Gamers on a Couch comic, or possibly Largo from Mega Tokyo.
Never mind, I didn't read the page.
"Not what the trope is; not even related to what the trope is."
I disagree; I'll admit it's not a perfect analogy, but it's clearly related. The trope is fundamentally about people who are convinced that there is only one "right" way to play a game (or to enjoy some other media), and that people who are there to have fun but who do it "wrong" should go home.
Or to quote the page: "In the end, what makes a Stop Having Fun Guy isn't the rule-setting; it's the attitude. While regular competitive/tournament players simply like playing to win, the Stop Having Fun Guy believes that this is the only right way to play the game."
And that's essentially what a lot of the Image Picking and Trope Discussion threads are about, if you want to be snarky. A nicer way of putting it is that we're trying to make the wiki more consistent and presentable, but some of this does come at the expense of the wiki's casual feel.
(Then again, suggesting it as a bit of self-deprecation for the wiki may have stepped on the toes of people who are taking it a bit more seriously and given offense. If so, my bad.)
Since that suggestion sank like a lead balloon, I withdraw it.
Yes but to be fair, the reason that image was chosen was because a very high percentage of tournament players are in fact SHFG. Which is funny because they are often (but not always) unskilled outside of their favored settings.
The xkcd comic gets my vote. It's pretty much how the SHFG are anyway.
{Off-topic. Please stay on the topic of this thread, which is the page image for "Stop Having Fun" Guys. — Madrugada}

In the end, nothing matters, or mattered. So endulge yourself now, your legacy means nothing when humans are extinct.Has anyone found a "gamers on a couch" webcomic lampshading? I really think that's what we need.
First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things. How about this one from Sequential Art?
The page "Stop Having Fun" Guys doesn't have an image (and it's locked so I can't just go and add one). I think it'd be nice to display the Trope Namer, http://xkcd.com/359/ on that page.
