I'm in support of the idea, because it feels like a natural extension of her character arc and opens up a lot of possibilities for the future. I'm not sure I have anything more substantial to say beyond that, though, sorry. ^^;

I'm done here.

I didn't say anything previously because I figured that was a decision for the "plot makers" or long time members and not someone like me. But (especially due to recent events), I've actually got some thoughts now.

My major concern when it comes to being a Frontier Brain (and this applies to basically any sort of title, except maybe being a hall-of-famer or having [X] number of badges) is the possibility of turning inter-player battles into a contests of people whipping out their character's resumes to determine who is going to win a battle rather than encouraging a habit of the players/authors discussing what result(s) would be most interesting for both of their characters or just agreeing to RP it out and see what happens, Frankly, I've already seen "my accomplishments mean you can't win" scenarios happen a few times in the RP (fortunately it's been rare).
And I might be a little guilty of it as well when it comes to battles involving pokeforms, If so, I'm working on that

From what I understand this is supposed to be a RP where even a little Sandshrew can win against a fully evolved mega mon if it's clever, lucky and (maybe) cute enough. We don't determine battles by "levels" and "EXP", likewise experiences/accomplishments should be a factor, but not the be-all and end-all of inter-player interactions.

Now with that mini-rant over... Thoughts on Sarah actually becoming a Frontier Brain:

I don't know where I stand on that yet. The fact she's not replacing any canon NPC's positions helps... But I'm VERY murky on how the Brains operate in the first place, and I'm not quite sure if I'm comfortable with, say, Sarah getting her own Battle [X] facility in the frontier and her own custom badge/emblem/(I forget what they're called).

On the other hand, if anyone were to ever challenge the Hoenn Frontier, the possibility of having Sarah be a replacement for one of the battle does sound potentially interesting. But from what I can tell she can kind of already do that?

I guess for the time being I'd like a bit more information on how Frontier-Brain!Sarah would theoretically affect the rest of the Frontier.

Hrm, admittedly hard for me to judge since I haven't been ACTIVELY following that plot and parts of me leaning yes and parts leaning no. Leaning more 'no' though due to Ellen already havig decent influence on a canon organization. Plus everything Blitz said.

The second half of Blitz's post says most everything I want to. I'm curious as to what you intend to call her establishment and what gimmick her battles would have, though.

Tastes better on the way back down.

"My accomplishments mean you can't win"

Understandable, I've admittedly been subject to this issue before, but I do want to make a point to show that the Battle Frontier isn't supposed to operate in terms of levels even in-game — they're entirely based on skill, considering one mode limits the max level to 50 and the other adjusts your opponents to be no stronger than your own highest level Pokemon. I'm gonna try my best to have Sarah's abilities reflect this.

Battle Facilities

At first, she wouldn't even have a Battle Facility of her own; even beyond coming up with a gimmick, buildings like these take a lot of time and a lot of resources. Instead, at least at first, I was considering having Sarah become a part-time co-Brain of the Battle Palace, and the rest of the time she'd be a "wandering" Frontier Brain — instead of having a gauntlet of trainers to fight, challengers would have to seek her out and face her wherever she happens to be, no matter the location. I think it would work out well with her being a J-Teamer.

Nepotism, ho!

Ellen's existence is admittedly something I hadn't considered, although Sarah's whole arc has been more or less based on her making a name for herself despite, rather than because of, her mother's status as a former Champion. And Ellen actually doesn't do much in regards to the current League anyway — partly because she likes keeping the "how in the world is she back we have her official death record right here" thing going, and having to deal with League officials other than keeping secrets with the Gym Leaders, E4, and Champions could easily put a damper on that.

[up] Good points, though two of your major characters have major ties to influential canon organizations is still kinda making me wary.

Though, third, option... Sarah setting up her own Battle Frontier for other P Cs to be Brains with her? :P

Accomplishments

Glad to hear you already had intentions of keeping an eye on that sort of thing smile

Facilities

Hmmm... I can probably be okay with the Co/sub-Brain of the Palace thing, It's pretty much an extension of what she's already doing.

And the "Wandering Frontier Brain" thing actually sound like an interesting idea. It lets her do J-team stuff and still occasionally do Frontier stuff, and might open up some interesting plots/interactions without tying Sarah to Hoenn permanently. Maybe if it was presented IRP/in-universe as sort of a side/extra challenge for bragging rights and not a new requirement for finishing the Hoenn Frontier challenges... I might be okay with that too.

Or take Umbra's suggestion and draft some PCs into making a "bonus frontier" organization :p

-is shot for being overly silly in an important-ish discussion-

Nepotisim

I honestly forget about Ellen other than she's dead and sorta back, So no real opinion there at the moment

Facilities

The "extra challenge" idea sounds good to me. I'm not so fond of the "Sarah organizes a separate Battle Frontier" thing, mostly because Sarah is not the sort of person to organize things. In general. Plus, I dunno how many people would actually be interested in that, considering for a really long time I was convinced I was the only person who particularly cared about the Battle Frontier in the first place.

Nepotism

Umbra: Is that "wary" a "be very, very careful" sort of wary, or a "don't want to risk it" wary?

I was kidding about the "Bonus Frontier" bit. But seriously, I imagine actually trying to make something like that would, for various reasons, be a LOT of trouble, probably more than it's worth. But the idea amused me.

Wanted to make a little ark (ar ar ar) about my character later, so here is some more infos about his family.

Phaz was born in Hoenn, from a Hoennian father and a Kalosian mother. As such, he speaks fluently Hoennian (wich i assume for the lolz that it is Australian) and Kalosian (wich is Gratuitous French). Phaz also has a bigger sis, which is going to be important in some way.

Phaz's sister is named Amelie. She is two years older than him (so 19), and is also a lil' bit taller (about 1.86m, scratching some centimeters from Phaz's 1.84m). She has long dark green dyed hair with a large bang covering her right eye, and brown eyes. Despite the age difference, she looks like she could've been Phaz's twin sister. Her personnality is more of the opposite of Phaz though: she is quite shy, calculating some of what could happen, but she reveal being as hammy as Phaz when she battles someone. She also went to Sinnoh, albeit for different reasons (explore the country and "collect some memories", as she says.). She has two Pokemons: a Garchomp named Aaron and a Porygon named Thales.

Phaz's arc just gonna be him losing someone he loves and slowly spiraling into the dark realms of depression... Or something. I don't really know, i will improvise.

First off: Just a note. IIRC Kanto/Johto/Hoenn/Sinnoh are generally assumed to in-universe equivalent to parts of Japan, so they might have different dialects or whatever but the same language. You'd have to ask people who do a lot more research into ethnicity, culture, and that sort of stuff for more specific information about that though.

As for why everyone speaks [English] instead of [Japanese]? Convenience, I guess.

May have more thoughts on the sister thing later....

EDIT: Okay, I re-read your post a couple of times to try and make sure I'm not reading too far into things. But from the information given... I'm not thrilled with the idea. At all

Introducing a sister is fine and all, but it honestly sounds like she's just getting introduced so Phaz can lose her and then get depressed. And yeah, the RP isn't ALL sunshine and roses, there's not much to keep really bad things from happening to characters besides what WAAPTers are willing to write for. But that sounds like it's going to go straight into dark territory with no apparent plan for returning to some level of normalcy. And dark just for dark/edgy sake really doesn't mesh well.

Basically, right now I'd recommend just about any plot that doesn't involve "losing a loved one" and "Dark realms of depression" -Especially if you plan get there by introducing a relative so they can die during the RP, PLEASE tell me that's a paranoid misinterpretation

Frankly ? I have no idea of what i should do. The deepest realms of depression thingie was just for something to fill, but i've still got time to think of this. The end arc will surely be totally different. As for Phaz's sis, it's just for the sake of having something to start the arc.

For the moment i focus on Ark's character arc and after maybe i'll do Gardenia. Then i will start Phaz's arc.

Hm, well the way your other post was phrased raised a bunch of red flags for me. Though the fact I'm still debating how one of my characters is going to handle some things I've got planned with other people and trying to make sure everything fits might have contributed to that

In any case, I don't have any problems with Amelie as stated so far.

Re: Region and Language, Hoenn's based on the Western Part of Japan's main island, plus a few more west of that like Okinawa. Can't say much culture-wise, though

And I go with the characters from the first four canon regions speaking Japanese when Translation Convention isn't being applied and conversations, depending on the characters, could be a mix of Japanese, English, French, or other languages, but I have weird language head canons

My version of the Pokémon world is something of a weird Alternate History, the logic being that the presence of superpowered murderbeasts would have a pretty huge effect on historical events. Thus, I can explain things like English-speakers with the power of imagination~

My favourite specific theory: the Poké-British Empire swept in and conquered Ransei in the wake of a civil war far more devastating and less conclusive than the real-life Sengoku Period, dividing it into four separate English-speaking colonies (guess what their names would be). The colonies are now four independent countries with a heavily mixed cultural background, somewhat akin to the USA. "Native Ranseians" still exist in large numbers, as does their language, but they aren't the majority.

Tastes better on the way back down.

Oh, random franchise-wide note: if you haven't heard already they're giving away free Mortality/Vitality Trio members to all Gen. 6 games this month via the Nintendo Network.

Zygarde's a bit tricky; in the US it actually ends after today, so if you want one get it now while you still can; however it's a perfectly normal Zygarde so you won't lose out on much if you miss it aside from the fact the Gamefreak Spy apparently now has interest in the Yangverse too and apparently saw Loki's AFD cameo. In Europe though the distribution goes until the 26th, so you guys still have plenty of time to get a Loki/Envygarde of your own.

More notable on the US end is the Xerneas and Yveltal distributions, which give out Shiny ones! This is the only legitimate way to get them Shiny, so nab 'em while you can. Xerneas goes from May 11 to 17, Yveltal from May 20 to 26. No word on PAL release aside frome some serial codes in Spain.
