Well I haven't voted to that point because I figured because I'm in the EA programm my vote maybe wouldn't count to begin with.

Arika's Race

Long before Arika's reveal, (which was the biggest and most elaborately planned plot twist of my entire R Ping career) I always joked that her "canon" race was Ambiguously Brown, and even after said reveal (Laconic version for newbies: She's a MacGuffin Girl, and not only was her initial MacGuffin form magical and already sentient, it had absorbed the soul of a human woman named Ren who initially functioned as a Split Personality post-reveal, though eventually a Split-Personality Merge occurred) I still referred to her as such because of her supernatural origins (and because she was influenced character-design wise by Princess Kida, another ambiguously brown, highly supernatural character).

However, as I'm struggling to include more racial diversity in my work, and realizing two of my P Cs are already confirmed white (Robin) or half white (Ammy as a human; only reason she isn't out-and-out Japanese is her parentage) and the other three (Nico, Umbra, and Lina) are all ambiguous but looks-wise are likely like either of the other two. So I felt it might be best to upgrade Arika from Ambiguously Brown to an actual RL race or ethnicity. Problem is: Her supernatural origins are still a factor.

So I'm asking you guys three questions:

1. Does her supernatural origins preclude her having a defined race/ethnicity?

2. If not, what races/ethnicities could she reasonably be, given her appearance?

3. If we pick one... How the hell does she find out?

I gotta go, but answers to those questions are much appreciated. I'll have some stuff to say about LGBT things related to my characters once we find a solution.

I always HC'd that Arika's initial form before her merging with Ren was inspired subtly by Izumi (herself inspired by namely Maori,Hawaiian and Okinawan cutlures). So Polynesian?

Not sure about the other stuff, though.

For the first, I could be wrong on this, but I figure since she'd have essentially been seen as a certain race or ethnicity her whole life, she probably would count as one, if I'm right on that?

I'd have to go for Polynesian as well. And, this being Hoenn, I'd imagine that the climate is very similar to most Polynesian countries in RL, I'd imagine there's probably a few Polynesian immigrants around who might ask Arika what island she's from.

OK, everybody's going with Polynesian so far, and I like Dune and Crow's suggestions for why... Anyone else, though?

Alright then, that seems to be that; despite her supernatural origins Arika is Polynesian, and knows already due to everyone viewing her as such all her life, including herself. I'll try to mention it in-RP somehow, but for now it's going straight to the wiki.

Pokesona Plot Applications

To be fair, I'm going to add two extra "rules" to the application:
1) All Unique Personas of Characters in all the Persona games are off limits to be used as a basis for Unique Personas/ Pokesonas in the Pokesona Plot. This is to ensure I don't have to reject multiple applications because multiple people want to use Arsene, Izangi, Orpheus, Sukuna-Hikona, or any other Persona that one of the major characters used in the Persona games.

2) If too many PCs end up with the same Arcana I will ask people to change their PC's Arcana to something else If they can't justify their reasoning with a strong IRP reason.

Pokesona Plot Time Frame

The time frame I'm currently looking at to do the Pokesona Plot is "some time next year". I'm going to look to Bitter and the others involved in the Sinnoh-2 plot and subsequent plots for help picking a good time to do this.

OK, now time for that LGBTQ+ thing. (Sorry this post is so late; I almost had it done way earlier but it got wiped and I had to write the whole thing over.)

Shocking news! Several of Umbra's characters are queer!

OK, this is just some initial Word of Gay as to the sexualities of a few of my RP characters. One's been heavily implied a couple of times before, one's been Word of Gay'd already and subtly been hinted at RP, the rest are newly revealed as of this post, but I hope to explicitly confirm all of them in-RP somehow (even if only in a small way and/or post-retirement due to endgame schedule already being packed.)

But anyway...

• RP!Umbra, after 600 years of guilt and shame suppressing such feelings and hectic shenanigans afterwards preventing them from resurfacing (a coincidently accurate, if exaggerated parallel to my experiences with my own sexuality) is rediscovering and realizing he's bisexual, triggered by him accidentally getting cuddled and kissed by Human!Chrome. I'm not entirely sure where to go with it since I haven't mentioned it in a while, but I have a silly idea of how it affected him pre-600-year exile, and at the very least will be doing a few posts confirming and addressing it.

• Robin, as already confirmed way back in this thread, is also bisexual. This admittedly contradicts things implied by the game mechanics of the strategy RPG whose universe he hails from (he and his female counterpart can hook up with almost any other character in the game... Of the opposite sex), but considering said mechanics primarily work that way for the purpose of glorious eugenics, I feel fine headcanoning he was secretly bi the whole time. Or this particular Robin happened to be. Whatever. I'm not quite sure how to outright confirm it in-RP, though, aside from one idea tying into the possible silly thing with Umbra.

• Seishirou and Fuuma are, yet again, bisexual, due to being named after and loosely inspired by characters whose creators apply Everyone Is Bi to all their work. Fuuma's briefly had a stint with another, female Flygon in both the AU and OU (Leading to the birth of his daughter Spectrum in both), but whether the "main" Fuuma (the one originally from the AU; ditto with the "main" Seishirou) will end up with a male or female, if anyone, is still up in the air. Seishirou, however, is definitely ending up with a male, though I have to work out exact details.

• Sam is the odd one out; due to an aspect of the character he's based on, as well as wanting to incorporate a very under-acknowledged part of the sexuality spectrum, he's asexual, and likely wholly aromantic too. And he's very much legitimately so; he's not just disintrested in sex and likely romance because he's more concerned with petty crime - even if he had a totally different personality he'd still be asexual.

But that's it, at least for now. Thoughts on any of this?
