Relevant Article It is changed over to a new site called Oh Internet. There is of course dissent among the many original fans and participants.

Anyone else have news or relevant info?

Good riddance. The chances that I found a hilarious article were completely dwarfed by the times I stumbled upon a page filled with unfunny bigotry and forced memes. Unfortunately, this means I don't get to unleash the "Offended" page onto my friends anymore.

It's a crying shame, ED was one of the few sites that made fun of everyone; this sucks.

No, shooting the dog would imply the victim was sympathetic.

It seems they decided a more toned down version of the site was in order and closed the original. The backlash of course as noted in the article is just beginning.

Was better before, then it turned rabid.

I never had the honor to experience Encylopedia Dramatica, but I bet there were be at least one major attack on the Replacement Scrappy by the fanbase. What do you think?

I myself, shall miss it.

The only thing I miss was our page during the IJBM debacle.

I'm pretty in the dark about all that. All I know is that one day after a long absence it disappeared.

I won't say the site was all roses, but they were basically the closest thing we had to douchebaggery watchdogs simply because they didn't get intimidated. Seeing them go is kind of disheartening. If the replacement site doesn't meet that, we really have lost something important, if distasteful.

Kinda like when some new threat comes in to take down the older established one.

@Jackerel: Ditto, there have been many scares in the past, but I can't imagine a site that popular with such a loose advertising policy would actually close down. I don't think it's an actual hoax like GOG, but I'm definitely calling this as a case of Not Quite Dead.

The fact people used it as a bitchfest probably contributed to it. It's a trolling site, not a whinefest.
