Good riddance. The chances that I found a hilarious article were completely dwarfed by the times I stumbled upon a page filled with unfunny bigotry and forced memes. Unfortunately, this means I don't get to unleash the "Offended" page onto my friends anymore.
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat. It's a crying shame, ED was one of the few sites that made fun of everyone; this sucks.
edit:....coulda sworn this was a trope....

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."I suppose someone had to Shoot the Dog. But it's a shame.

No, shooting the dog would imply the victim was sympathetic.
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat.It seems they decided a more toned down version of the site was in order and closed the original. The backlash of course as noted in the article is just beginning.
Who watches the watchmen? Was better before, then it turned rabid.

I never had the honor to experience Encylopedia Dramatica, but I bet there were be at least one major attack on the Replacement Scrappy by the fanbase. What do you think?
word is it was a funding issue.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote? We already have a thread in New Media, and this thread is probably going to be more of the same.
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.ED is plainly a case of He Who Fights Monsters. I cheerfully shovel dirt on its grave.
I'm a skeptical squirrelI myself, shall miss it.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more! The only thing I miss was our page during the IJBM debacle.
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat.I'm pretty in the dark about all that. All I know is that one day after a long absence it disappeared.

I think it's a joke. What Port 80 (their SFW sister) is still up.
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudI think it's Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead, not Kong.
Fight smart, not fair.I'll miss editing it.
I won't say the site was all roses, but they were basically the closest thing we had to douchebaggery watchdogs simply because they didn't get intimidated. Seeing them go is kind of disheartening. If the replacement site doesn't meet that, we really have lost something important, if distasteful.
Kinda like when some new threat comes in to take down the older established one.
@Jackerel: Ditto, there have been many scares in the past, but I can't imagine a site that popular with such a loose advertising policy would actually close down. I don't think it's an actual hoax like GOG, but I'm definitely calling this as a case of Not Quite Dead.
Great, another site where I can't be negative anymore
(Still a bit bitter about the "no complaining" rule in the Video Game forum here)
The fact people used it as a bitchfest probably contributed to it. It's a trolling site, not a whinefest.
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudI meant negative in a way I can vent my frustrations by being mean.
Start going to the gym. It helps.
"You can only come to the morning through the shadows."
Relevant Article It is changed over to a new site called Oh Internet. There is of course dissent among the many original fans and participants.
Anyone else have news or relevant info?
Please Keep This On Topic and Civil.
