Needs fixing?: Refuge In Audacity

True, but the total number of votes is small enough that I'm not sure what the etiquette would be in a trope reworking this major.

Calling crowner in favor of redefining to "A character takes refuge in audacity".

It looks like the definition was changed. Is there anything left to do here?

The way I interpreted it was that Refuge in Audacity was basically when things are (In-Universe) over the top rude or offensive all the time. Think Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt.

Crosses the Line Twice, to me, was one joke that is so offensive it stops being offensive, even funny. Like one joke from Dragon Ballz Abridged.

To me they're not mutually exclusive, but Crosses the Line Twice is basically one joke (or an episode) that flips the bird to political correctness. Refuge in Audacity is when the entire work flipping the bird at everything all the time. So Dragon Ball Z Abridged Crosses the Line Twice all the time, and falls into Refuge in Audacity since most of their jokes cross the line twice.

That's how I saw it.

I see it more as Refuge in Audacity doesn't necessarily come out funny; you're just impressed at how ballsy...um, whatever it is...is. Crossing the Line Twice is specifically when something is intentionally over-the-top horrible/offensive with the intension of being funny.

We're past debating the definition at this point. The crowner has been called to be non-YMMV. The definition as it stands is not about being offensive at all but being so over the top no one believes it happened.

Right. We've settled the definition. All that's left is cleaning wicks. What this really needs is the little work-pending asterisk thingie. (Never mind, I was looking at the wrong thing. This already has the asterisk.)

Before I can help here, I need to know a bit more about what "Refuge In Audacity" is supposed to mean now (and recover from the aftereffects of the Memetic Outfit effort)

Okay, the description's been revised so that it's about characters using Refuge in Audacity to get away with stuff, not any story that Crosses the Line Twice. And I've just gone through all the trope's examples list and got rid of all the examples that didn't match that definition.

Can we officially get this thread declared resolved?

The wicks need fixing.

For the sake of starting on the wickerwork, I've gone through the Y and Z wicks.

No, see, I've already done Z thru R (and some of Q). At least I've taken care of the wicks where Refuge in Audacity was part of a work's trope list; if it's Pot Holed or otherwise not part of an alphabetical list, there's really no way to find it short of reading through the entire page. With roughly 3000 wicks, that would take just shy of forever.
