Man does this need changing. I don't have any ideas, though.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdOk yes this could really use some a rename and maybe a little expanding for side scenes like Final Fantasy X with choices affect who is involved in the Blitz Ace move or who's monolog you get when riding to Shiva's temple.
Edit: maybe not on the expanding.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!This is unquestionably the worst title I have ever seen still in existence (some renamed tropes were worse). Rename it.
Ignore me.

It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdYeaah....this should be Grinding Your Intimacy Skill or something. Having it go with Level-Up at Intimacy 5 still might not be bad.
The last sentence describes the trope as "when the game forces a Tenchi Solution" so I made "The Tenchi Solution as a gameplay mechanic" as the Laconic entry. The entire description should be re-written to expand on that instead of the nattering, whining mess it is now. Essentially, the trope is when it's advantageous, in gameplay terms, to be involved in multiple relationships instead of one committed one. Therefore, we should be deciding the answers to two questions: 1) Should the trope allow non-game entries or just put them in Tenchi Solution? 2) Should "trust" relationships count or just "intimacy" relationships? For example, should Mass Effect count since you need to gain everyone's loyalty in order to achieve the best ending but can only be involved in one intimate relationship?
"Thorough preparation must lead to success. Neglect nothing."
My thoughts: Exclusively a videogame trope, unless invoked by some character, of course. But thats fairly unlikely.
Should only consider "romantic" relationships. Mass Effect would not count, since you don't get an extra bonus for romancing a character that you wouldn't get just by having their loyalty.
No I think it should be relationships in general.
Persona 3's Social links are also a great example of that since you complete their Dating Sim style arc you gain the most powerful persona of that Arcana but when you get them all in one run you get the ultimate persona. Only 5 or so S-links are romantic.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!^ If that turns out to be the case, I amend my suggestion to Grinding Your Social Skill.
...on second thought, wouldn't that title also apply to reputation/favor points with factions? We have, that, right?

Thats such a fantastic name I'll withdraw my position and agree with Raso.
Yeah, there are a lot of examples of it just being relationships in general in video games. Not just romantic ones. It's actually more common with platonic relationships.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWe have Relationship Values but stuff like World Of Warcraft reputations are a very very borderline example of it.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I like Grinding Your Social Skill, although the Double Entendre-ness of Grinding Your Intimacy Skill can't be understated.
As the guy who created this trope, absolutley in favor of a rename.
She's sun and rain. She's fire and ice. A little crazy, but it's nice.Relationships Are Useful, Relationships Equal Rewards, or maybe Video Game Relationship Bonus (maybe just shortened to Relationship Bonus)?

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.A month later and still no progress. This may be among the worst names on the site... why doesn't anyone seem to care?
I like the grinding ones myself. Should we start a crowner?

Yes, especially with the trope creator on board.
Just a drive-by "let's get a crowner" post, don't mind me.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.I made a single proposition rename crowner here. Feel free to edit it and point out any mistakes that I may have made in the process of putting it together.
Personally, I think that Mambo Intimacy 5 should be renamed because I think it is not very indicative of what the trope is about at all.
Still, I like the part of the trope about Katamari Damacy so I hope that is kept no matter what we do with the trope.

Crown Description:
So yeah. Its a videogame trope. Who knew?
Basic idea is that in a game where the Main Character can form relationships with one or more other characters and gets some sort of bonus, it is beneficial to try to have as many relationships as possible.
20 Wicks, 120 inbounds, could probably use better population, though it hits the main ones I could think of.
But the name...the name is terrible. Named for a song with no relationship to videogames, and an exceptionally obscure Tabletop RPG (notably not a Videogame).
Suggestions?
