...I don't know why, but that amuses me.
As for the actual Vincent is Heather's boyfriend thing: I'm... oddly neutral about that. Something tells me it's a case of Executives demanding a love subplot to get the film to appeal to women *. Not sure why I get that feeling.

I think most of the appeal of originalflavor!Vincent/Heather came from the whole older, slightly skeevy but "heeeey, I'm on your side!" guy/dark vengeance heroine. sooo...not exactly the same dynamic.
ophelia, you're breaking my heartLo and behold.
FUCKING NURSES AGAIN!?
There's was a second clip shown at Comic-Con and tbqh it sounds much more interesting:
[...] The first sequence shows heroine Heather Mason (Adelaide Clemens) trying to escape the evil clutches of what can only be described as an evil, hideous, mannequin-spider. That is to say, it's a spider composed of the arms, legs and living faces of mannequins that looks like it could be the pet of Pan's Labyrinth's Pale Man.
edit: Hang on, that sounds quite a bit like Scarlet, doesn't it?

At least they're creepy, and not quite as overexposed as pyramid whore.
On one hand, I'm like, "Oh god, they're gonna take a cue from Homecoming?" But on the other, Scarlet was one of the few impressive parts of that game. Why isn't there a You Tube link to that clip then, too?
The first clip was kinda creepy. The dialog was a bit shaky, though. Why does Vincent know where Heather's dad is? And/or how does Heather know that he knows?
Well, at least there's something we can agree on.
He also said this:
OOOH.
Apparently, their selection of clips was limited because of the kids wandering around during Comic-Con. Darn kids!

I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyThe nurses are a staple of the series.

#IceBearForPresidentIt looks pretty good. I've been following the director's blog on this film and he seems really dedicated to making this good.
As for the clip with the nurses it was pretty creepy and the shot of the bed falling over and the camera following impressed me a little.
Though I probably need to see the first film just to have some first hand experience (*cough*never played the games*cough*)
I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can.I like that part, too.
I definitely think you should watch the first movie before seeing this. If it's like the games, then your experience of watching one will be enriched by the other, hopefully.
Sigh... I wonder when we're gonna get a trailer.
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencySo I guess everyone has a repressed sexual drive? :P
Spooky.Oh, who doesn't.
I imagine you could justify it by Heather being Sharon/Alessa from the first one so technically they would be "projected" the same way, if the movies actuallly use that logic at all (as the games do).
If memory serves, though, a while ago there were actually some blurry screens of something resembling a certain pyramid-helmed fiend...
^^ You have no idea.
^ I wouldn't doubt it. Pyramid Head is practically the mascot of the franchise and gets shoehorned everywhere, ties to James be damned.

#IceBearForPresidentTrailer!
And yup, Mr. Pyramid is there, swinging swords at your face in full 3D, *sigh*.
Not entirely sure what to make of it, though, it looks very clichéd... and violent, which isn't exactly SH done well but we'll see.
edit: YouTube link.

Looks good. Not seeing it in 3D, but I'll definitely go see it as I quite like the first one.
Between that trailer and the director describing the rating as "really hard R" I'm honestly worried it's going to turn out something more like a Saw-sequel. I have no idea of the nature of Bassett's previous work, he hasn't made any predilection towards gore evident, has he?
The last film he made is Solomon Kane, I haven't seen it but I'm pretty sure it's violent and may have gore.
As for the trailer, looks pretty good. I'll see it.

I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can.I was told Solomon Kane was quite gory and I saw Wilderness, which was plenty gory.

I just saw the trailer. It looks kind of exciting. Some of the noises were scary. Some things I noticed:
- The Seal of Metatron! Hopefully it won't be a "rusty old piece of junk" in this movie.
- The Halo of the Sun, The Order's religious symbol.
- Dahlia is still wandering around Silent Hill, but seems to have mellowed a bit.
So, what I think the plot is, is that Heather is the only one who can defeat the demon that's still ravaging Silent Hill, and someone kidnapped her dad, Harry Mason, to coerce her into going there. Because... things. I can't tell if it's the Order themselves (probably not, since they worship demons) or The Brethren (probably also unlikely, since Alessa killed 'em all reeeal good at the end of the first movie.
Damn. I KNOW this movie won't be available at our local theater, so it's gonna be a long three or so months of dodging spoilers on TV Tropes and Tumblr until this sucker comes out on DVD. >.>
Re: Gore, I read some of Basset's interviews, and he said that this movie isn't torture porn like Saw. I'll trust him on that; to be honest, I don't mind a little gore anyway. Silent Hill 3 had some bloody parts where it looked like walls were bleeding, and they were traumatizing. I didn't see anything like that in the trailer...
And can I just say how adorable Sean Bean looks in glasses? I guess he's more like the Shattered Memories Harry in this movie. It also emphasizes that he's aged in the six years between the movies.
Is there a tropes page for this movie yet? And if not, we would have to index it under the Film namespace, right?

I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyI can't bear horror movies, but Sean Bean is adorable and amazing and I'm hoping against hope that he doesn't die horribly like in EVERYTHING ELSE. I mean, I know it's a Silent Hill film, but Sean Bean!

...Was Pyramid Head operating a fairground ride at one point in that trailer?
Indeed. Because Pyramid Head is secretly a Shiba Inu and the mastermind of both movies.
That spider-creature was definitely Scarlet-inspired, though, if somewhat embellished (I counted three heads).
That spider-scorpion-mannequin-doll-thingy looks like someone decided to design what would happen if Scarlet had a baby with a Siam.
Also, and this is perhaps my biggest issue by far... where is Robbie the Rabbit!?
If there's one thing the movies does right it is the transition to the Otherworld. I greatly prefer how everything just sort of melts into a steel and mesh world instead of just phasing into one.
#IceBearForPresidentI do love how the real world sort of flakes off to show the Otherworld beneath. Like Silent Hill has some horrible dry skin.
I know, right?! The thing is, if you've played all the SH games, you've already lived through Harry dying twice. I don't think my heart could bear a third time.
What's nice is that in these movies, Harry used to be Chris. Now, it's kind of hard to see in the first movie, but Chris didn't love Sharon as much as his wife Rose did. (The biggest implication of this is when he goes to rainy Silent Hill in the real world, and only mentions that Rose went to Silent Hill to the cops — not Sharon.) But in this movie, he seems to care much more for Heather than he ever did for Sharon — and if Heather is somehow a reincarnation of Sharon, then that's really sweet, in a way.
Harry will wind up in a situation kind of like Alex's dad in Homecoming
I also love how much Douglas resembles his original ingame counterpart. His face is different, he doesn't look as old or quite as big of a guy as him, but somehow, he looks ALMOST EXACTLY LIKE HIM. It's awesome.
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting Agency
I take the movies as being in a different universe from the games so I'm not really hurt or upset or anything about this.
