Today's episode of Puella Magi Madoka Magica may count for some. Psychologically more than physically.
nishishishi~ Nii-nii no baka... .__.The scene where the kids beat a puppy to death in Elfen Lied...
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."The scene where Guts gets up on a crumbled tower in Berserk, only to look down and see the sign of the sacrifice covering the whole of the human encampments (thousands of people) at the foot of the tower. Then the image zooms out, and we see the tower has crumbled into a hand-shape behind Guts.
"That said, as I've mentioned before, apart from the helmet, he's not exactly bad looking, if a bit...blood-drenched." - juancarlosHigurashi: USO DA, the fingernail scene (I can still hear that music in my mind, the scene when Satoko is horribly tortured and in Kai, when Takano shoots everyone.
Most of the scary stuff in Higurashi is gradual, though... it's not really moments. Off-Model and Narm somewhat alleviates it, but not by much...
ERROR: Signature not loadedUzumaki, so it gets pretty narmy there for a while, then HOLY SHIT, the babies, just HOLY SHIT. That entire part catapulted it from creepy mystery adventure into horror.
The thing about making witty signature lines is that it first needs to actually be witty.Kyuubey EATING HIS OWN CORPSE in Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serial^ Yeah, that's about the only thing in the entire series that unnerved me. And I was able to read through the Matsuribayashi-hen manga without batting an eyelid.

The entirety of Franken Fran almost counts as a Crowning Moment Of Horror.
But Chapter 2 is probably the most horrifying of all.
Yeah, babies. Also, the grey scene in Serial Experiments Lain.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Yeah, the baby one is pretty much up there at the top of the list of most horrifying chapters in Franken Fran.

I'm honestly a bit scared to read past the first chapter of Franken Fran from just hearing later chapters, but especially that one.
As for my, The interrogation scene from episode 8 of Noir. The fact that you can't see anything and just hear gunshots and screaming makes it worse. It's not even that by itself, but that fact your imagination of what's happening is compounded by the fact that it's torturing a man my making him him listen to you torture his family. That's one of the coldest things you can possibly do. *shudders*

Imagine Rakan applying Calling Your Attacks to doing paperwork.~Anarchy Rakan for the hell of it COMMISSION THIS BRIDGE!~EHKThe first episode of an anime I watched was Night of the Chimera's Cry, and...yeah. I haven't been disturbed by all that much in anime but that freaked me out.
End of Evangelion. Just... End of Evangelion.
I haven't seen End of Evangelion (yet - too much homework to do) but from the series itself when Gendo uses the dummy plug in Eva One to rip Eva Four apart - while Shinji is trapped insideEva One, screaming at it to stop. When you remember that because of the sync, Shinji felt every moment of that... it's like Fridge Horror on top of something that's already High Octane Nightmare Fuel.

Don't you try anything, you baked good you.endless eight olololololol Probably the scene from Higurashi when Satoko was being tortured in Meakashi-hen.
The amputational beginning of Texhnolyze, as well as its Everybody Dies Grand Finale.
Speaking of amputations, the Elric's human transmutation in Full Metal Alchemist.
I wish you had spoilered that. I hadn't seen that yet (Texhonlyze I mean).

Generally, A&M, compared to any live action visual media, is harder to scare people. Nevertheless, sometimes things are just scary. What is the moments when you read/watch them and go OMGWTF?
Me: Higurashi manga. I didn't realy think the anime to be scary because of all that Off-Model and Narm but the manga...oh god. Also, remember that scene in Fullmetal Alchemist where Shou trasmutes his daughter and the dog? THAT is the first time when I realized that manga can be scary too.
