General Sonic The Hedgehog thread

Anyone else think it's cool Metal's always had a steampunk design? He still looks good even in his first appearance.

Metal is not steampunk in the slightest. For christ sake everybody these days just love tossing that word around to describe things that totally aren't.

Steampunk is very Victorian with steam and gears. Metal Sonic has always had a distinctly sci-fi appearance. lern2steampunk.

Anyway, I think Metal Amy would be able to use the hem of her dress to shoot laser hoops, or use it as a razor hoop thing.

Metal Sonic's sleek, aircraft-like hull structure is much more in line with Eggman's aim to capture Sonic's speed in a machine than the clumsy, rivet-studded Mechanical Sonics.

You know what I just remembered? That old Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The one where Knuckles has the cowboy hat. If I remember correctly it was really stupid but also really fun.

Ah, the Sonic OVA. It was silly but good.

Thought about posting this in response to calling Metal "steampunk" before but didn't...posting it anyway because it's an awesome song.

Speaking of Metal Mario, it's really silly playing Classic Mode in Brawl, reaching a "Metal Sonic" stage, and not seeing Metal Sonic, but instead seeing Sonic literally made of metal.

Not to mention that Sonic's palette swaps aren't that good.

I'd rather have been able to play as Original Character Donut Steel than Sonic with a vaguely different shade of blue, tbh. It'd have been a lot easier to discern in the middle of a fray.

The OVA was pretty good, like a higher budget Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog episode.

I hated Sonic's palettes, too. I mean, they had no qualms about giving Daisy's palette to Peach, so why not give Sonic the palettes of other characters?

But I want to play as Blonic you guys.

Play as Blails instead. He's incredibly broken.

Well, I can't play as Bluckles. He always just breaks down and insists that he's the real Knuckles.

Of course, you could always play as Blaze, or Blaze.

Or Sonichu (is shot).

Because he was a last-minute addition? They probably couldn't do it with what little time they had.

Speaking of Smash Bros., I kinda hope Shadow is in the next one simply because the way he fights is awesome and I don't think any other Smash Bros. character fights like him.

Of course, I'd also love to see Blaze but I get the feeling that she'd end up being a bit too similar to Lucario.

I don't think any other Sonic character will make it into SSB, since I'm pretty sure Sakurai's team and Namco are unwilling to bring in more than one character per company. Heck, since Hideki Kamiya really wants Bayonetta in SSB, she has a good chance of replacing Sonic.

Suda 51 was also toying with the idea of Travis making it in. Doesn't make him any more likely.

Besides, while retaining the third-party limit is all fine and good, I can't come up with any credible reason as to why they would decide against bringing Sonic back in. (That said, other characters from the series is obviously quite the stretch.)

Bayonetta replacing Sonic, Sega's mascot? Eh, that seems unlikely.

I think Sega just needs to make another Sonic fighting game using Super Mario Bros. Z as a reference.

Considering Nintendo picked up Bayonetta 2 in an effort to win over the mature crowd (and backfiring by winning their ire instead), it's more likely than you think.
