FWIW, we have Badass Grandpa and Cool Old Guy. Now, Badass Grandpa + Crouching Moron Hidden Badass + The Mentor is still tropable, mind.

Fair enough.
Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.bump. Who votes for a rename?. I am looking for concensus on this issue.
- Renaming rules
- A rename may be needed if:
- The title is incoherent.(check)
- The title requires knowledge of a specific series in order to be understood.(check)
- The title is named after a specific character.(check)
- The title is the same as that of an existing work of fiction. In this instance, unless the trope title is a pre-existing term, it will almost certainly be changed.

Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love. Its got my vote... do we want to get a single prop crowner going?
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!other tropers have proposed cool names. Maybe we could add them in a crowner.
Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.I ment single prop on if to rename since there is seemingly some who want to keep the name despite the evidence.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Don' worry. We can add the option "keep name" in the crowner.
Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love. That's not how it works. First you poll on the yes/no question about changing the name, then you poll for new names, assuming there's consensus for a rename. Otherwise you're splitting the "rename" vote into pieces while denying people who don't want a rename at all a chance to vote on the new name without voting against themselves in the process.

I could swear I saw something like that before. But if that's how things work around here. Thats ok with me.
I already requested a Crowner. Btw

Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.Bumped for Crowner.
Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.If a name is not working, it may be suffering from one or more of the following problems. These are guesses about why the name is not working, not rules that have to be followed:
Fallen Angel, until you prove that the name is not working, please do not add "reasons to rename" that are only appropriate after that.
They are already proven. If you are right you will win.
But don't remove the removal reasons. You are making the voting biased.
The claim that this trope isnot being "misused" is an argument that is still debatable. And yet I didn't removed it.Because I want voting to be impartial.

Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.Give a link to that proof that that the trope is broken.
With pleasure:
My Foundation is on this rules https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=365rl6gt9w6vijv1envyi76j&page=1
My motivation (argumentation) is this:
Reasons for renaming
- The title is incoherent.
- Yes the name doesn't have a relation with the trope description
- The title requires knowledge of a specific series in order to be understood.
- Yes Harry Potter
- The title is named after a specific character.
- Albus Dumbledore from Harry Potter.
My foundation is on the Trope Renaming Guidelines, that are the foundation of the one you linked to, that is a compressed version.
There, your "reasons" are only listed as reasons that you can invoke if the title is not working.
"Not working", as in provably underused or misunderstood. These are guesses about why the name is not working, not rules.
If the title would be actually incoherent, you could prove that by showing problems with how the title is used on the wiki. Until then, it is just your opinion about it.
Don't convince me.Convince the people. There is already a crowner. People are going to decide. I am not really debating. I am just presenting facts.
Click here Lots of tropes got renamed for this very reason.. Most Triumphant Example is Spikeification. Now knwon as Badass Decay
But in my opnion having a trope named after a character is a Big reason for a rename. It's better to reename now before it's too late. Like Xanatos Gambit or The Mario.
P.D Please stop editing out renaming reasons. You are making the voting biased. If you disagree with my points prove me wrong. But don't start an edit war.
Until you prove I am wrong in the discussion.Don't remove them.

Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love. Can we please stop the edit war the crowner? And let's get some objective reasons on both sides? Also there is evidence of wicks just potholeing the trope namer for the sake of potholeing it even if it has 0 to do with the trope itself... (see the first page)
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I didn't try to blank the crowner, just remove the subjective, unproven pieces like "the title is incoherent", or things like "it's named after a character", that the guidelines very clearly specify as NOT causes for a rename on their own.
That the example check found cases of gratuitous potholing, that's true, but that's just one. That one can stay for all I care.

^ They are in the guidelines read the rules again. It is the post made by the mods in the forum rules
Ok I will goive you the benefit of doubt and remove the "inchoherent" argument.
But I don't see how the others are "subjetive". This trope 'is named after a character and you know it. Albus dumbledore the Trope Namer. Its even in the description. that is not subjetive. Please stop removing it.
Those other arguments I made are valid resons for a rename please read the rules.
One more time and I am telling the mods. I warn you.

Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love. All right. You know what? You only make a fool out of yourself if you list things that are well known by everyone not to be proper renaming reasons according to the guidelines, without misuse.
That's like if you would add that "it's not in the dictionary as a word". That might be objectively true, but it's still not a proof that the title is misunderstood, just a reason why it could be misunderstood, (even if it isn't).

Don't go around telling the newbies "everyone thinks without misuse all reasons to rename are worthless and you're making a fool out of yourself listing them". It's been hard to pin down what consensus is on that matter, but I feel on pretty steady ground saying that "misuse or GTFO" is not it.
Last time we had a big discussion about the TRS guidelines the sentiment in their defense seemed to be "they're descriptive and not prescriptive", and "the beauty of our current system is that we can ultimately sort things out", and "well they're just guidelines" and "get off their case, in practice stuff does get renamed even though it doesn't live up to the guideline requirements". Not a single person, including you, claimed we should follow them to the letter and never ever listen to anyone offering any reason to rename anything that isn't broken in five different ways.
I thought we reached an agreement on this. Misuse is important, inbounds are important, our general policy is to not fix what's not broken, and you're free to point this out. But we really should not be shouting people down. If Mr. Goku's argument is weak enough, how about we trust everyone here to trope responsibly and vote it down.
Pretentious quote || In-joke from fandom you've never heard of || Shameless self-promotion || Something weird you'll habituate toUmm.. Yeah. That's what I just said too.
I feel compeleed to edit the crowner to remove the 2 out of 22 part, since I really don't think two out of twenty-two countable misuses towards the character instead of the trope, where the trope is still being used correctly when still referenced to the character, are a meaningful display of misuse. But I don't want to contribute to an edit war.
Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?I concur. Never checked the sample size to begin with, that was just there already.

Vote up for yes, down for no.
Now that you mention it. This trope is very similar to Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass and Obfuscating Stupidity
