What he said.
To say that the Kirby characters weren't chosen more than anyone else... yeah. Although, he has a point there too. I think they could've told it better.
My main issue is still with how slow the gameplay was, and how boring the SSE overall was. If the characters aren't going to say anything, then the story is somewhat lost, making the whole point of a story mode... pointless.
But let's drop the subject since I think we've made it clear what the flaws were.
Quest 64 threadYeah, we're starting to derail the topic.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The Madnobody who has ever played Starcraft would ever play Starcraft 2 because the ability to select multiple buildings makes it far too easy.
Yeah, lets drop the subject, but only after Hyrdronix gets the last word, as long as no one else is debating the last word wins.
Don't take that personally, but the smash sequels games all have enough hype and backlash you can likely get an accurate idea of what the games are actually like just by guessing what the reality is by contrasting the conflicting claims.
What other games have similarly amusing or frustrating divides? I remember when Final Fantasy VII was hyped as a life changing experience, the only piece of fiction you would ever need to experience. Now its changed to a life changing experience that must be avoided at all costs if you want to keep whatever happiness in this life you have left.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackI only said to drop it because the person got the answers he/she asked for. And it was off-topic. Me only posting to say "drop it" is even more off-topic.
Anyway, I think FFVII does really get an unfair overall hype. It ain't the holy grail, but people saying to avoid it? I think every game deserves a chance to be played before judged. Even some of the less savory ones. And I don't get why people say it's a bad game. Okay, the only thing we can acknowledge is that it's regular 3D graphics didn't look very good. A lot of the other stuff is definately YMMV. I myself didn't really enjoy the start of it, and really should've played more.
Quest 64 threadI personally think people are forgetting that it's a PS1 game. And thus too many judge that game by the standards of today's games.
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."Agreed, but it should also be noted that VII is not as revolutionary as most fans believe, in terms of both story and gameplay. Distilled down to its most basic elements, the story of VII is very similar to that of Final Fantasy VI.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadSo I'm guessing none?
I'd make a joke about Halo, but I've seen how people use their sick days to set up camp outside of stores the day those are released. Those games don't need hype.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackYou guys tried to make sense of the Subspace Emissary plot?
-headscratch-
So...basically like how it happened then?
The gameplay was casualized, taking out many advanced techs(dropping Z/L Stance was by far the biggest problem, while the rest are more or less picky), and it could've used some polished. Where as... it had a buttload of Trophies, Stickers(which many are useless), Masterpieces. As for SSE, it's a Story mode. So why is the story hard to understand? If we can't make sense of it, it's not a good story. That's what we meant. And even if the game is still pretty good, is still has overall more Quantity than Quality.
If E.T. well... was better, yeah.(can't really say much of this one) Although when people say it's downright unplayable...
Quest 64 threadLA Noire would be an action packed game that's basically GTA in the 60's...and would have more fights in it.
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."Everything except the GTA in the 60s part. I didn't get that from the advertisements or hear that from anyone ever.
I dunno, I guess if GTA: Vice City lived up to the hype I might've liked it?

Really? That's ALL I heard about it...
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."Nope that wouldn't be the last word.
Okay, story makes no sense? Valid. Maybe. Bad guys are stealing the world, try to stop them. How does that story not make sense? A lot of Brawl complaints go this way. The AI is horrible? Its better than Melee's AI. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. The last game's AI would walk into your fully charged moves every single time, only being saved by its inhuman shielding.
Advance techniques? I'm going to love when the next game makes it impossible to pull off chain grabs on Final Destination. It will start with rejoicing over the loss of tripping then "no, Dedede is ruined!" I wonder, maybe kill every tourney tactic's value in Brawl and reintroduce some of Melee's, how would that go down? Dancing Blade is advanced enough for me.
Assuming there is another Smash Bros Game, how do you think it will be hyped? Or will they do like Metroid Prime 3 and do the bare minimum to acknowledge its existence?
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackCall Of Duty is the worst thing ever despite having tonnes of players for it :<
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gud
Hey, at least Reptile wasn't The Woobie this time around. He's been the designated Butt-Monkey since at least MK4. And hey, he survived the game. Besides, why would you expect him to get a chapter? He's a villain. An antivillain, but still. The only non-heroic characters who received a chapter was the neutral Scorpion and Cyrax, who was given the Heel–Face Door-Slam treatment via roboticization.
As for Smoke, he just witnessed his best friend get captured by the Lin Kuei, who were going to subjugate him to their will. Yeah, he was pretty Leeroy Jenkins-ish, but Smoke was influenced by Kitana's relationship with Jade, which he most likely perceived to be the same as his own with Sub-Zero.
IMO, this all sounds more like personal grievances than flaws with the actual storytelling.
