You can't say no to the beauty and the beast go wrong with some Bowie.
Amen to that. Actually, random aside, but the first time I heard "Beauty and The Beast" it made me think of Balrog and Vega, for some reason. Great name for an assassin duo in some theoretical work.

I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot!Ziggy Stardust is such a great album. Easily one of my favorites.
no one will notice that I changed thisI actually didn't like Ziggy Stardust as much as some of his other albums ("Suffragette City" is one of my fav Bowie songs, though :)). It's a toss up between Station To Station and Hunky Dory for fav album for me, with Outside as the most underrated.
I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot!Hunky Dory is good too, although Life on Mars is easily my favorite song from it.
no one will notice that I changed thisTo be honest I have a hard time remembering which album has which songs, since I mostly have digital copies of things. So even though his sound varies a ton, I don't really keep track of what happened when. But I think my favorite songs would be Rock n' Roll Suicide, Starman, 1984, The Prettiest Star, Suffragette City, Starman, Diamond Dogs, Ziggy Stardust Oh You Pretty Things, Aladdin Sane, Changes, Fame, Width of a Circle, Lady Stardust, Time Will Crawl, John I'm Only Dancing, Sweet Thing, and Space Oddity.
I mean, he has a lot of songs, so.
Listening to "Station to Station" right now. Just... yes.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.I like Aladdin Sane. The whole pseudo-avant garde jazz section in the middle of the title the track is weird but pretty good nonetheless; I think Bowie's actually underrated as a sax player. "The Prettiest Star" is another nice one to listen to, but I think that it would have been a good one for him to give to Mott the Hoople, because sometimes it really seems closer to their style.
Young Americans is probably my favourite Bowie album and "Fame" is my favourite Bowie song.
He shows off his sax skills a bit more in Black Tie White Noise, if I remember right. Speaking of, "Jump They Say" is an awesome song.
I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot!I like Teenage Wildlife a lot.
David Bowie is one of those unique rock gods that both defines and refutes any genre he takes part in. He cannot be denied, nor can he be classified.
And also, just about everyone in the developed world knows who he is. Now, that is fame.
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~I'm kind of tempted to start listening to David Bowie right now, just to prove you wrong.

You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!^ 0/10. Pothole to Troll? Seriously?
Back in the day when Last.fm was free for us residents of insignificant countries, I've been listening to the 'art rock' tag station for some reason (back then I think I've just discovered metal via AiC and Fear Factory, so again, no real reason) when I have stumbled across "Warszawa".
I got incredibly moved.
Three years later, I finally gather the courage to DL Low, discover it's full of instrumentally bland hippie rock and get immensely disappointed.
"Space Oddity" and "Under Pressure" are terrific, but I don't think I'll return to Bowie anytime soon after this.

Yes, because it was a light-hearted joke rather than a serious attempt at trolling.
I really don't understand how you could make that error. If I was actually trolling...then why would I...wha...
Goddamn. Just goddamn. You are...something. Really something.
He's the personification of awesome in person, a god in human form, there are no words about how much I love him.
There's ALWAYS at least one song of his that is an Ear Worm to me, it changes whenever I get tired for a while. R Ight now I can't stop listening to Width of a Circle and his version of Wild Is The Wind.
:)@Litis: Yeah, I thought Low was pretty boring myself ("Sound and Vision" excepted). The other albums in the Berlin Trilogy are much better. If you wanna place to start, I suggest Hunky Dory or Ziggy Stardust. Or better yet, Best Of Bowie to get an overview of his career.
I just finished listening to The Man Who Sold The World recently myself, finally :) The eponymous song is my favorite there, though. Also, I really dig the more sci-fi type songs he would do on his earlier albums (the 1984-related songs on Diamond Dogs, "Saviour Machine", etc.).

I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot!*takes Bowie off of "to listen to" list*
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Slightly off topic, but "And remember to think of the bisexuals. We think of you. Naked." is probably the best little troper phrase tag thing I've yet seen. Kudos :)

:)Talking about a musician in terms of godhood is a great way to turn me (and a lot of people) off to them. I wasn't being literal, as I still plan on listening to Mr. Bowie at some point. But still, rabid fanboying is bad.
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....
So I noticed there was no David Bowie thread here, and that needed to be rectified. I just started watching Life On Mars, so I've been going through my Bowie library again lately. As of now, "Station To Station" is my favorite song by him; a bit long, but awesome.
