Street Fighter Discussion Topic Turbo!

I'm learning the ropes of Street Fighter and 2D fighters in general with V. I lucked out because this was the easy game for babies, but it's still hard for me.

I made a lot of progress compared to where I started off. Still not good, and I still lose all the time to the highest level A.I. (No substitute for real players but I'm not buying PS Plus), but I kind of get it now. I learned how to input buffer, I can link awfully and confirm into EX/Super decently, and I learned that charge characters are the opposite of fun.

The ultimate goal is to get good enough to practice with USF 4 Gen, because Gen is the best.

I feel like the only one who likes/is not bothered at all by the look of the new Puzzle Fighter game. Everywhere I look has complaints all over the place. I think it looks fine, but I'd want to see actual game footage to judge further.

RE: All-New Puzzle Fighter:

Serious talk, the 3D artwork does admittedly look like it'll take some getting used to. Maybe if we bring it up enough times, Capcom will relent and throw in classic 2D character artworks via an update. Though in any case, we should reserve actual judgment for this until we see gameplay.

In other news, Street Fighter II is getting a new SNES cartridge release!!

Points:

• Costs $100.
• Comes with an instruction booklet, embossed box, and "retro in-pack surprises."
• There'll only be 5,500 of these bad boys with 4,500 in snazzy red-colored cartridges and the remaining 1,000 in glow-in-the-dark green; the different colors will be distributed randomly to customers.

Can't tell for sure if the cartridge will actually work on any SNES or it's just for show. (If it's the former, then color me surprised/impressed.)

Disregard that last part, turns out it'll work on NTSC SNES consoles just fine. It's also sold out! Whomp whomp!

For SFV, any more stuff for Capcom to release via DLC, or is that it once the last Season 2 DLC character is out?

Well, there's been the rumours/leaks of Super Street Fighter V, starring Sagat, Oro, Sakura, Q, Necro and C.Viper. This would be a free update for the balance and mode changes mind you. Data leaks have given it more credibility, as people found data for a Variable System, where you can choose between two V-Triggers or Critical Arts (So you can choose say, V-Trigger 2 with CA 1).

Other than that, it'd likely just be more costumes and stages before Season 3/Super is announced.

I wonder then if we'll finally get an adult redesign for Sakura like they gave Karin.

Hopefully, the still in uniform thing is silly at this point.

Which is why I kinda doubt she'll be changed much. IIRC, the In-Universe reason for her wearing her school outfit was because she considered it appropriate for fighting. For some reason. If anything she'll probably sport the same look except more modernized or something (like Karin).

She'll have some sort of tennis outfit with the same color scheme.

I want Sakura to have a variation on the tracksuit she wore in her SSFIV ending as her new default costume.

Also is there a reason the Super Famicom Classic gets Super SFII and we just get regular SFII Turbo? I know Turbo was way more popular over here, but Super man. More characters.

Street Fighter V Arcade Edition confirmed

Most importantly: Free upgrade for people who already own SFV.

Choose from two V-triggers per character. Who's gonna play Urien without Aegis Reflector though.

People who buy the box of SFV Arcade Edition will get update, all characters and modes. Existing owners will be just getting the update and new modes.

There's a character popularity poll going on at Capcom's website right now. It ends on November 5th, and the results will be revealed mid-January. People are making a lot of assumptions as to what the poll would result in, but I think this is just a typical popularity poll that Japan seems to like doing on occasion.

For some reason there's a bunch of characters I've never seen before in the line-up, a lot of them coming from that upcoming Arika fighting game that I've seen a bit of. Weird.

So, how is the interest for SFV? A few days ago, I linked to the trailer for Zeku and no one replied.

Still the western FGC's favorite game, but I don't think a lot of casual people are playing it any more.

How about Easter FGC

People seemed to be as interested as Zeku as they have been in any of the new characters (aside from Abigail, who people seemed to have warmed up to only after they were able to play him), although it seems to be a mix of "stance system looks cool and versatile" (Old!Zeku has good range while Young!Zeku has better close combat options) and "how does Strider fit into this"^note Everything seems to point to Zeku becoming the founder of the Strider clan, bridging the two series together (for the first time). driving the interest. I think the announcement of the Arcade Edition overshadowed him though (well, that, and apparently a lot of people knew he was coming. Guess he got leaked earlier), and I'm not sure how many non-pro players are putting off SFV until AE releases to try him, especially if they hadn't already gotten a character pass before the announcement.

I'm kind of interested in him, but I think I'll end up sticking with Menat in the end. Gotta get a feel for him first.

Also are the battle costumes unlockable or do they need to be bought with actual money?

Yeah! I've been waiting for this!

Includes Street Fighter, five versions of Street Fighter II (the original, Championship Edition, Hyper Fighting, The New Challengers, and Turbo,) all three Street Fighter Alpha games, and all three versions of Street Fighter III.

Hyper Fighting, Turbo, Alpha 3, and Third Strike will also have online play, and there's other goodies too! It's coming to PS4, Xbox One, the Switch, and PC.

That looks neat.

Anyone else at least mildly psyched that not only will this be on the Switch, but it's coming alongside the PS4, Xbox One, and Steam versions and not afterwards?

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers must have really packed a punch, eh?

Really hoping Alpha 3 and 3rd Strike have their console versions included otherwise it'll probably feel like Darkstalkers Resurrection all over again. Not having Hyper SF 2 is kinda weird too.

Hell Alhpa 3 Upper had an arcade release so if this version doesn't have Dee Jay, Guile et al its gonna seem a bit lacklustre to casual players.

To be fair they were crappy looking, out of place ports of their Super SF II sprites that really clashed with the newer Alpha sprites. I honestly prefer versions without them since it makes the game look more professional and less like someone's Mugen.
