Maybe after his star fades he'll go indie. That's what Hanson did—now granted I don't know if Hanson's recent music is any good or not, but they had the same level of popularity coupled with Hate Dom that Beiber has, and at roughly the same age.

Words cast into the uncaring void of the internet.

Well we all expect them to go and when they do we berate them.

Like that slut machine Miley Cyrus and her drug taking, pole dancing ways.

^TBH I don't think Miley has actually ever had sex. I think some of the questionable stuff she does is just to get away from the whole Hannah Montana image. It's stupid but no more than a teenager getting in over her head.

Like I've said in previous threads, if Justin Bieber doesn't end up washed out and on drugs or something, he'll probably end up like Mary Kate And Ashley Olsen. They were not the best actresses, but they have made so much money with merchandise that they never have to work again.

Thread Hop.

Mass produced pop is not a threat to musical creativity. Through the history of pop music, you've had harmless fluff side by side with the cutting edge avant garde. Nostalgia Filter gives us Nothing but Hits that have been Vindicated by History. Similarly, music today, thirty years from now, will be remembered by the bright spots, and the insanely popular crap is only remembered by those who lived then.

the statement above is false

Jeth has a point.

Does anyone remember any of the rock quartets, other than The Beatles and a few other bands?

No, not really.

The Who, the Kinks and maybe the Spencer Davis Group are probably the only ones most people remember.

The Rolling Stones, the Animals and the Yardbirds were all quintets anyway.

I love pop music. Light, catchy, simple tunes that I get listen to on Youtube for free. ;p

All of the "serious" and more "substanced" music seldom catches me as much. And when I'm listening to music I don't really like to think about it. Which is why when I can I'll totally disregard lyrics.

And as for Idols...well, it shows that anyone putting themselves out there can be someone.

I'd actually completely forgotten this thread existed. Let's keep it that way.

I like both there are times where I want a powerful punk song about the working class, or ballad about man's struggle against machines but other times I just want a song that has quick beat and not much meaning to ponder over.

I kinda hate myself for saying that but it's true, Swallow catchy music has it's place, as does powerful underground beats and riffs.

I don't think that artifical pop idols are any worse than Vocaloids, and other intentionally fake musicians. It's the same thing, except that here, they use real meat as the raw material to form the idols, instead of just digital data.

I mean, music can exist without the performer being a True Artist, if only their vocal chords are used as an instrument, or not even that, just their body as a decoration.

I love necros. I don't see why people mind them.

I like pop idols. Most of them are fluff, but some can pump out some great music.
