Ménage à 3 Universe Comics

I only know three Germanic and one Finno-Ugric one, so... (And it's partially a lie, because I know one of the Germanics and the Finno-Ugric one VERY BADLY).

I'm probably never going to read this comic, since it doesn't sound like the kind of thing I enjoy, but the review that got linked was pretty lame. It made some good points about why the comic is trite and pandering, but all between tired "All nerds are losers who will never get laid" jabs, equally tired animé-bashing, and apparently thinking that being set in Canada makes a comic automatically bad. At least the reviewer had the good taste not to make a lame pun about the author's name. (Also, 'ménage à trois' doesn't mean 'threesome', it means a relationship between three people living together.)

I quite like reading acerbic reviews, but clichéd internet insults from 1995 don't convince me.

And Giz is still afraid to draw penises. Which is going to be a problem down the road, since this seems to be the characters only notable quality.

I haven't seen her Slip Shine work, but for the regular Ma3 that's more of an advertiser thing. She's scared them away once already.

Yeah, if she were to start drawing penises the only advertising she and Dave would be able to run on the site would be hardcore porn, probably. Which kind of limits your audience. Not everyone who enjoys the bedroom-farce-with-occasional-nudity sort of comic necessarily wants to see ads for "XXX nude hot vegetable action yes hamster spanking join now!" (There's AdBlock, of course, but not everyone uses that.)

Some comics without penises already get Slipshine ads, so I'd rather not imagine what ads a comic with actual Male Frontal Nudity would get...

I remember when Uncle Ghastly lost ads for drawing Heterosexual Intercourse In The Missionary Position For The Purpose of Recreation (between Aryan Jesus and his wife, though). If you know the subject of his comic, that's hilarious.

@Raw Power, you don't understand, the problem is she is a is a 'exotic' looking, hot woman whose only purpose (for now, anyway) is have sex. And she doesn't even 'look' Brazilian (yes, we are 'brown', but that hair is just weird). This is kind of a common negative stereotype so having the only Brazilian character being like that is bad.

However, she is so downright absurd and obviously not meant to be taken seriously that this issue doesn't exist. In fact, it is her 'weirdness' that save her.

Oh, and I was joking, anyway. Even if the character had rub me wrong(which hadn't) I would be able to just forgive it and continue reading. It is just a webcomic, nothing serious.

She's probably just some random sex partner of Matt's that we will never see again.

Technically, we were never supposed to see Matt or Dillon again. Giz and Dave like pulling from the backstory(or maybe they just hate coming up with new characters), so a reappearance wouldn't surprise me. Hell, Kiley started off as a one panel sight gag extra. Webcomic characters never know when their big break will come.

Life as a webcomic character is tough. :)

I thought she actually did the right thing, acting as a catalyst for trouble his mother had been having for a long time. Apart from that, the only thing I remember she did was mentioning who she was. So...

Exactly. A number of readers seem to have missed the fact that the mom had been unhappy in her marriage for some time because she knew her husband was cheating on her.

Nonetheless, as I said previously, the creators have addressed the general problems many have had with Zii, by giving her more of a conscience and having her follow through on her "wingman" promise to Gary. There's been less "I hate Zii" talk on the comic's forum since these developments.

(As in any fandom, there will always be those who are determined to hate the character regardless. Case in point: in Lagace's former comic, Penny And Aggie [still written by Campbell as always], there are those on the forum who continue to react to, e.g., Aggie as if it were still 2005 and she were still yelling "Worse than Hitler!" at Penny all the time.)

The mom being unhappy in her relationship was only part of the equation. And, I'll admit, that's a factor.

But I see a kid waking up one morning to find out A) his family's being broken up, B)his mom's a lesbian, and C) some random adult fucked his mom purely to spite him. And stuck around breakfast the next morning to gloat about it.

I repeat: Zii, an adult, screwed this kid's mom purely as an act of petty retribution. Then stayed for breakfast so she could literally go, "Neener neener, I fucked your mom."

AND EVERYONE ON THE FORUM WAS OK WITH THIS.

I was okay with this and never ever was trolled.

Um, not everyone on the forum was okay with it. I was, but many were not. There was major Internet Backdraft, so much so that the moderators locked a thread twice due to personal attacks from both pro- and anti-Zii readers. Not to mention a few people suggesting, without irony, that Zii should be made quadraplegic or killed for her actions.
