I previously separated out the "Broken" tropes into their own section of the Matt Hardy page, but I'm beginning to think we should just make the entire "Broken" stable of characters their own page. There's so many tropes between them all, from the Continuity Nod / Composite Character of Jeff's previous characters (and songs), to the fact that Matt uses never breaking Kayfabe to make videos like the above, to the Scribe being the Zoidberg of the Hardy compound and potentially being a Death Note reference.

So, if I made Wrestling, Trivia, Memes, and Character pages for The Broken Hardys, would you guys help?

Also, to be sure that I'm not missing any, the characters are: #BROKEN Matt Hardy, (The Nefarious) Brother Nero, Queen Rebecca / Reby Sky, King Maxel, Senor Benjamin, Vanguard-1, The Scribe, The Seven Deities (has anyone ever recorded their names?), and the various reincarnated animals (George Washington Giraffe, Joe Frazier Kangaroo, The Spot Monkeys, the tiger... who was that again?)

Plus, moments like Aron Rex / Damien Sandow attempting to TREAT Matt could use a reference.

Let's say WWE decided to make another animated series that would basically be a modern version of Hulk Hogans Rock N Wrestling, only with better writing and actual wrestling. Who play the faces and heels of this cartoon and who would be the leaders of those two teams?

Shoot fight with heavy restrictions. Inoki wasn't allowed to grapple, he wasn't allowed to throw kicks unless one hand was touching the mat. The fight itself is fascinatingly boring. It got interesting later when it was revealed the kicks that Ali took from Inoki irreparably fucked up his leg and had a hand in ending his career.

Really, really mixed feelings about Survivor Series.

Fucking dammit, Team Smackdown should have won the Women's division match.

What are your thoughts on the main event?

Weirdly enough, I think I might actually like it better then their last match.

Apparently, this may be all be part of a long term plan to build up a third match (and a Wrestlemania match) between the two of them.

Bill is also returning for the Royal Rumble, which is a shock, as I believed his return here was a one time thing.

And it was all Lesnar's idea supposedly.

....Also, I don't know what Member Berries are, but since it's a South Park reference, I'm assuming it's tied to groins.

Main event: Honestly, I figured that Goldberg would win, and then Nakamura, Samoan Joseph, or Big Strongman would get the push from beating him.

Other matches:

  • Women's: It's clear what they're setting up going forward. It wasn't bad, and I didn't notice any big botches, I just wish some of them were used better. Also, if my favorite had to be eliminated, glad it was to Natty (in Canada).
  • Tag: Skipped it after it seemed to be really poorly booked.
  • IC: Glad with how this one went down, though the ending was a little underwhelming. Could've used a stronger move.
  • Cruisers: Feh. I don't care about THE Brian Kendrick. That finale was stupid, though, especially considering who was doing most of the work of that match.
  • Men's: Ambrose and Reigns, and the clusterfuck at the beginning, are really the only downsides to this. Reactions to Reigns were hilarious. Considering I'm a fan of Bray Wyatt, and just became a fan of Luke Harper during this storyline, I was happy with the ending. I really hope Orton doesn't turn on the Wyatts. This is the first I've ever liked him. There was a missed opportunity for that amazing team pose. Considering I'm a fan of Jericho, and to a lesser extent Owens, I was a bit disappointed with how they got eliminated.

[up][up]Adorable little grapes that invoke a sense of nostalgia.

WWE has a major thing where older guys are automatically tougher and better than the full time roster.

So according to Jericho on his hilarious podcast with Christian, the list of Jericho thing came about because he wanted to test himself to see if he could get a piece of paper over.

The reason older guys are tougher than new guys is because they actually got over, and were allowed to get over back in the day. Older guys coming back as part-timers doesn't harm newer guys in any way. They get a huge rub for being in the ring with older guys, more eyes come back to the product, and that means more people get to see the new guys.

Goldberg vs Lesnar at Survivor Series was amazing. Made me feel like a kid again... and then the cynical wrestling fan in me came out and I started picking it apart... then I realized what I was doing and just went back to digging it. Great booking, and has generated interest in the royal rumble already.

I feel the same way really.

I never expected to like the match, but it somehow worked.

The fact that is the opposite of their previous match in everyday (including length) is the best part. The only thing that stayed the same was the result.

The best part about this is that it gives Bill a chance to shake off the 12 year ring rust. If they really do have a rematch at some point, we might see a much better and longer version of their Wrestlemania match.

Lets see how this goes.

Actually, for me, the best thing about this is Brock is now human again. Kayfabe-wise, it's shown that Brock is still beatable. That means his matches can be more than just suplexes and F5s again, and more importantly, it means other wrestlers can now more believably beat him.

Funnily enough, kayfabe-wise, Goldberg is now the most powerful wrestler who's ever lived. Goldberg > Brock > Taker at Wrestlemania

Which is why I'm still curious who if anyone gets to beat him in the Rumble, if not solo. That's an ENORMOUS push. Who actually needs it? The people deserving of that push that come to mind (Balor, Nakamura, Samoan Joseph, James Ellsworth) could still go far with a smaller push. The people who would benefit most from it (Big Strongman, Baron Corbin, Kofi since it's a Rumble match and it would fit with my long term plan for New Day) don't feel entirely deserving of something that big.

maybe Goldberg vs. Taker at Wrestlemania?

A couple of other quick thoughts:

  • I like how they're building Shane back up as LEGIT in the ring. I really hope he gets his 1/3 to 1/2 share of the company and stays. Consensus is he's a great person to work for and has a much better eye for long term than anyone in his family (including Hunter).
  • Miz has successfully reinvigorated the IC title. Can he just be allowed to have this feud won already, so that he can go on a longer feud with Daniel Bryan with the two trying to out-douchebag each other? Especially if Miz can get some clean wins.
  • Really, the Cruisers should be on Smackdown if 205 Live is right after. and GIVE THEM STORYLINES, dammit. Otherwise they really are vanilla midgets.
  • Check my plan for The New Day in the comments to this video

Goldberg > Brock > Taker

Yeah, I noticed that as well. It would be hilarious if Taker and Goldberg wrestled and Taker won. That would make it some weird Pokemon-ish triangle.

I don't really think Shane should be getting back in the ring anymore. Not after what just happened at Survivor Series. He's incredible, but he's still more of a business man then an Athlete, and he's gonna hurt himself if he keeps doing that stuff.

On another note, while it's great to here he's wonderfull to work for, I'm surprised to hear he's a little better at things then Hunter, cause Hunter (alongside Dusty and I think Regal, but I'm not sure about that last one) pretty much made NXT what it is, and considering a large number of the current athletes were seeing in the ring lately came out of NXT, it's pretty good. I'm impressed to hear that someone is better then Hunter, as I believed his both being an athlete and being in bed with practically the first family of Wrestling gave him an understanding of how the business worked that would be unbeatable.

Maybe Hunter has been better since Shane left, but at the time before Shane left (and before NXT took off), quotes I'd heard said Shane was cool, and Hunter had his politicking issues.

Plus, Shane (and Stephanie) didn't actually get handed too much by Vince. Their long terms were secured, but they still had to work for it.

It was the Authors of Pain versus two enhancement talents. The spot was a powerbomb of one guy, then powerbombing the other guy onto his fallen partner. Unfortunately, it looks like their heads collided.

I saw the last chunk of Roadblock 2: End of the Line Electric Boogaloo: The Roadblockening: Take a Detour or Give Up Go Home and Try Again Tomorrow's Iron Maidens match. Of all the ways to end that match, they chose [[spoiler: the lamest. Sasha should've just held on for the two more seconds. Alternatively, they could've still had Charlotte be undefeated in pay per views without robbing Sasha of both the title and champion's advantage. If it's declared a tie, Sasha remains champion, Charlotte doesn't take a loss, and Sasha can be written as too injured to defend, thus forced to vacate, opening it up for Charlotte to take on Bayley or Nia Jax for it.

As for other Roadblock: End of the Line: Live Free or Roadblock Harder With a Vengeance matches I saw:

  • Rusev vs Big Cass What did Rusev do to have so many angles ripping into his wife's honor? Oh, he's foreign and not Samoan. Got it. The angle was stupid, the match finish was whatever. All four involved parties could be better used than this.
  • New Day vs Cesaro and Sheamus: SMART finish by the Europeans, though I'd have rather New Day retained for 500 days if possible, then lost. Also, while I loved the honorable ending, hopefully now they can be more creative on the mic. If that means returning heel, so be it.
  • Golden Boy Reigns vs Kevin Owens Look. I get it. They want to push Roman, and when he's being his naturally dickish self he's actually a decent heel. Not tweener, heel. But this angle doesn't work for me. It makes Owens look unnecessarily week, and it postpones the more interesting Jericho vs Owens potential feud. Also, what the fuck. It has been 4 months, and still no reasoning from Triple H?

On the whole, the PPV was meh. It would've been better served to not have so many PPV this year. TLC for one would've benefitted as a great show, but there was just PPV fatigue. Roadblock: End of the Line: Ask Me If I Care was a whatever show which fared even worse because of PPV overdose. The only things I cared about going in, that wouldn't have been just as fitting on a standard episode of RAW, were the Women's Iron match, and the New Day match.
