I spent a lot of time stuck on the very first boss battle in Mario And Luigi Superstar Saga because I either didn't remember or couldn't be arsed to do the "Press A/B when Mario/Luigi hit the enemy to do more damage" trick.
Eventually I wised up, though, and Superstar Saga is now the childhood game for me.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."At least you realized it on your first playthrough. It took me several tries through the game to realize I had to master solo jumping techniques. All this time I thought the Hammer was simply superior.
I used to delete save files on various games that my brothers played. I have no idea why I did it. I guess I just kinda... did. I don't think the save files were filled up either... but my brothers must've been very angry to see all their hard work putting hours into a video game, suddenly gone.

I only did that when my brother clearly wasn't going to finish the game or even remember or care about it. In a few rare cases, I simply completed that file's playthrough.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300I confused Clockwork Knight with Clock Tower.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I confused Drawn to Life with Drawn Together. Yeesh, that's a mistake you don't want to make.
pearlina brainrot affects millions of people worldwide. if you or a loved one are suffering from pearlina brainrot, call 1-800-GAY-NERDSIn The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, I was downright OCD about keeping my hearts full always, even before I got the Master Sword and therefore could shoot sword beams at full hearts (which, itself, is another dumb thing - on more recent playthroughs of the GBA remake, I realized how badly overrated they are). I also kept using Faeries-in-bottles for healing instead of potions later on - in Ganon's Tower, you don't get as much mileage out of seven hearts as you might think.
It took me years to beat the first dungeon in A Link to the Past.
The Protomen enhanced my life.It took me several, several years to beat Meta Knight's Revenge in the original Kirby Super Star. Yes, on the SNES. Instead, I would play Dyna Blade over and over again.
I used to play my games without reading a word of the story. And I loved JRPGS nonetheless, which meant I often had to go around checking every corner and "talking" with every one to find out where I needed to go or to trigger what I needed to trigger.
I am still surprised how much I could understand of Chrono Trigger's story back then.
When I was little I called the Nintendo Help Line to ask them to make a Kirby cartoon. I even sang a song.
The Protomen enhanced my life. And hey, look where that went. XD
I'm the guy who knows how to make games but doesn't. 3DS FC: 2878-9776-7579When I was a tiny child, I got a used gameboy color and a copy of Final Fantasy Legend 3. (Yeah, yeah, I know it's a Saga game.) I couldn't ever figure out how to get off the starting island. However, the dude before me had a save file from just before endgame, with a really strong party. So Iinstead of ever actually beating the game, I just cruised around and explored the already-saved towns.
"The world ends with you. If you want to enjoy life, expand your world. You gotta push your horizons out as far as they'll go."Man, there's a game I never thought I'd see brought up!
I spent hours on a really hard Sequence Break to get into the wrecked ship in Super Metriod because I missed the grapple beam.
When I first played the Pokémon Trading Card Game for Game Boy Color, i thought you had to do the Clubs in the order the Red/Blue games' Gyms were in, so I took my Charmander and Friends deck straight to the Rock Club and Water Club first.
The Protomen enhanced my life. Not making much of an attempt to dodge the traffic in Test Drive 4, or at least not as much as I do in racing games these days. On some occasions I'd go out of my way to hit them...
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotMy very first time raising Chao in Sonic Adventure 2 (for the Dreamcast), I didn't want to raise them with anyone but Rouge for some reason—I think it was because she was the only female playable character. So when the time came to raise a Hero Chao, well... let's just say the poor little guy had a very hard life...
On a semi-related note, after dying in Cannon's Core and seeing Amy's intro text, I got really excited because I thought she would be playable. (I hadn't played the original Sonic Adventure but I knew about it, and was sad when she wasn't playable in SA 2. I eventually did play SA 1, but later.)
The Protomen enhanced my life. When I played Mario Kart 64 at the age of 7, I would race off the course. On purpose.
Also, in the first and second Paper Mario games, the only thing I would level up was HP. I still survived the final bosses, though.

"Thanks for the lesson. But I don't need you to tell me who I am."I used to jiggle the "Power" switch on my dad's Atari 2600 to see what kinds of weird things would happen. Through some weird programming quirk (and several minutes of trial and error, I was able to get the ship in Space Invaders to shoot two bullets at once, instead of just one.
I hope you get tiny bits of eggshell in all your omelettes for the rest of your life!Call me crazy, but I did the exact same thing on the exact same game the one time I played it when I was six. I didn't know what I was supposed to do other than drive! I did eventually figure out what I was supposed to do though...right before I had to stop playing. (It wasn't my N64.)
I also made the Starter/Cut mistake in the Pokemon Red And Blue remake.

"I shall not be foolish again, my dear Gwendolyn!"Bomberman NES: The first time I played it (when I was 9 or 10) I had NO CLUE how to progress, trying everything from blowing up every block in the level, getting rid of all the enemies (and wondering why the level didn't end when I did), and even blowing up the exit door multiple times thinking it would open.note I am not kidding when I say I didn't figure out how to even get past the first level until this past fall. (I have since beat the game.)
Also, when playing Zoo Sim games when I was little (such as Zoo Tycoon and a similar (if slightly buggy) game called Zoo Empire) if I got bored with a zoo, I would fence off the exit while there were still visitors at the zoo, delete all the fences that contained my animals, and watch as pandemonium ensued.

My one death in my latest OoT run was to my friends getting killed by a Deku Scrub because they didn't know how to hold R.
