No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

Would Stens or AK-47s be a better Autogun base for an anti-Imperial rebel army?

Halper's Law: as the length of an online discussion of minority groups increases, the probability of "SJW" or variations being used = 1.Heldrakes are a really useful investment for basically any Chaos Marine army. Chaos native anti-air is a) basically nonexistent and b) what there is, isn't very good (either horribly overpriced or just "buy thing with lots of shots, use spray and pray"). Heldrakes help shore up that particular weakness by flying around ripping enemy aircraft out of the sky.
You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.Any specific number? 'cause iirc, Heldrakes aren't exactly cheap, and as of right now I'd be looking at around 260 dollars worth of models with the Maelstrom of Gore and Start Collecting: Chaos Space Marines sets.
Also, I'll need to see if my FLGS has a copy of the Codex: Chaos Space Marines and Codex: Khorne Daemonkin. If not, I'll just ask for the owner to order them for me next time he does the orders.

On a different note...
I'd say Stens, personally. AK's being the Requisite Bad Guy Gun is kind of old hat.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.
Well, they aren't quite bad guys (though neither are they good guys), I was mainly thinking of the AK-47's popularity amongst rebel groups (which they are, as I previously mentioned).

Check what your local metagame is like. If everyone has flyers, you'll be wanting a Heldrake, two if you want the Terror Pack formation. If people have been avoiding it, you can give them time.
You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.I already know that its expensive as fuck That's why I liked the Horus Heresy box sets.
And okay, that makes sense. Heldrakes are an important purchase for the army, got it. Anything else or I can just wing it?
I do know one of the people plays Nids, and there's someone with Iron Warriors
Speaking of the hobby, I need to go out and buy myself some METAL BOXES in the near future. Foot infantry gets easily gunned down this edition.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies. The Eldar are getting a High Gothic name: The Aeldari
Knowledge is Power, Guard it Wellsound cool, I bet the devolpers of Ao S are kicking thsemselves for no coming with that name
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I've no problem with it other than te fact that I think it is a little Warcrafty, but that could be because I have been playing a lot of World of Warcraft lately.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellBut wasn't "Eldar" already a GW trademark??
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."I believe so and as they say on the page Elder will still be used, just as Sisters of Battle, Space Marines etc are still used.

Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellTechnically GW did come up with that first. The elves in AOS are known as "aelves" already.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Actually, GW borrowed the name from Tolkien, as "eldar" was the ancestral name for the elves.

I thought I had seen it elsewhere but I couldn't remember where.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellYeah, it's Quenya, derived from the word meaning "star".
You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents. So wait... what's the point of the new name for the Eldar then?
It could be an attempt to indicate a greater faction, in the same way that "Armies of the Imperium" only really gained mechanical relevance recently.
Or it might just be that their lawyers have slipped their chains and are running around attacking passers-by and handing down ill-considered rename instructions again. It's hard to say for sure.
You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.Let's hope it's the former and not the latter then
You know, I have been wondering... How did GW avoid having the Tolkien Estate slap them with a copyright infringement lawsuit over the use of the name "Eldar"? Blizzard had to coin the term "Treant" as a solution for not being able to use "Ent" as a name for Warcraft's Expy of Tolkien's Plant Person race.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Probably because GW's lawyers are scarier than the Tolkien Estate's.
Also: Blizzard didn't coin the term Treant, that was Gary Gygax and TSR in D&D 1st Edition.
Yeah, I didn't mean that GW had come up with the term, just that "Aeldar" was something that had basically already been implemented with AOS.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.
Huh... that's kind of stupid imo, but whatever
But yeah. Anything else you'd recommend for a Khornate warband aside from what I've already mentioned?note
