This is the thread for discussion of The Order of the Stick plot, characters, etc. We have a separate thread for discussing game rules and mechanics. Excessive rules discussions here may be thumped as off-topic.

OOTS is much less of a gag comic than SF or Homestuck. Plus walk in and get killed off is the easiest way, while Rich already says that they're sticking around for longer than the minimum.
"Sticking around longer" doesn't need she won't die though. Thanh is dead, for one thing. My guess is though that she won't die, but I'm not that certain about that either.
The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.Also, like, one of the characters is literally a memorial to an actual guy who died, so killing him would at the very least be in poor taste.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."He said in the post that he slotted them into roles that he had already planned to exist, so they're probably not gonna get killed off as a joke.
She was, as far as I can recall, the only character to recognize Durkula as a vampire, so she cant be entirely dumb. If she's of relatively advanced level, that also speaks to some sort of capacity to take care of oneself. At the very least, Durkula should be extremely wary.
The priests of Hodor were the only ones who didn't recognize him as a vampire, and that's only because they were wearing blindfolds.
What matters in this life is much more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too. - F. Rogers.Hey, I know about Favoured Souls! Neat!
And man... this is not going to end well, is it?
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Is that an actual class? It sounds kind of like bad fan fiction.
Probably not.
We've known - or at least been able to infer - since the prequel books that Durkon bringing death and destruction on his kin was going to be a major plot element of this book. It just remains to be seen if it's going to be the A plot or the B plot - the other one, of course, being Xykon.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Yeah. I know it from Neverwinter Nights 2.
Mechanically, it's basically the Sorcerer to Cleric's Wizard.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."This is going to result in a lot of dead bodies, ain't it?
Doubtless he's planning to get Hel legitimacy by having a cleric at the Godsmoot, and thence able to get her own living clerics and worshipers.
Or just kill the clerics of the other gods. Whichever.
Or is that too simple?

That description can cover a solid portion of D&D expansion books.
Man, seeing Roy get played so thoroughly is kinda painful. Can't wait for the other shoe to drop. Thank God for the faster update schedule.

Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.God. Fucking hexblades, man.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."What is the update schedule? I've not seen a noticeable one on the main page.
Official update schedule: New comics shall appear when they do, and not before.
That's been pretty frequent of late, but don't get used to it.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Pathfinder replaced Favored Soul with Oracle, and gave the class a lot more originality and balance. (Curses, Mysteries, Etc).
Basically yeah- Favored Souls/Oracles are spontaneous Casters that learn far fewer spells but don't need to prepare them- instead they can cast a limited number of spells per each level and anything on their list.
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"Two good punchlines today! XD
First, I take it that panels eleven and twelve are a reference to Veldrina's (Doylist) origin.
Second, the final "I'm a vampire line".
As to plot, I'm enjoying the unfolding of Durkula's plan—and I'm glad that it hasn't been dragged out. Perhaps it's the frequent updates, but this particular section feels as though it's progressing at an enjoyable pace.

My Games & WritingI wonder why I never heard of Favored Souls before. They sound like an interesting class. So if Veldrana can cast 7th level spells I'm guessing that means she's roughly equal in level to the Order.
@L Mage- Interesting. I had thought that Veldrana's Favored Soul deal sounded a lot like the Oracle (of Nergal). Why does she get so many more perks though?

Funny thing is, I like magic knights and spellblade type characters way more than regular squishy wizard characters.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Fun Fact: 5th Edition actually makes the Favored Soul into a Sorcerer sub-class. Bottom of this article

After years of reading other webcomics, especially Sluggy Freelance, I'm used to wrtiers subjecting winners of cameo contests to brutally over the top yet darkly humorous deaths when they do appear in the story. So I fear for our elf spellcaster...
